I don't know if they still do it or not, but years ago it was illegal to use live bait in some of the St. Louis City lakes during certain times of the year. You would go down there and everyone would be throwing spinner baits.
I get up at 4:00 AM, load up the car and I am over at my buddy's house by 5:00 AM. Move my stuff into his truck, drive the 12 or so miles to the lake, and we're on the water by 6:15 AM if all goes well.
The next trolling motor I get will be a Minn Kota. I currently have a Motor Guide now. Without running into something under the water, I have had problems with the prop falling off. I have also had to have the switch replaced several times.
I have had good luck fishing weightless flukes in moss and weeds. I just bring them across the tops of the moss in little short jerks, and then let them fall into holes.
Put on the sunblock before you head out of the house. By the time you reach the lake and get the boat in the water, the sunblock has worn off your hands.
