  1. I use an old Mitchell 308 on a 6' med. action rod, occasionally. I hate fishing in cover with light tackle.
  2. I don't have any spots around here, and smallies are 1-1/2 to 2 hours away. Largemouth it is.
  3. Years ago there use to be a place over by the airport called Village Inn Pizza. Everything was made by hand by a chef. That was the best pizza that I ever had. Unfortunately that place closed down in the late 80's I guess it was.
  4. One of the best shows ever!
  5. I don't think he put soap in the machine.
  6. This year it has been a blue / black jig.
  7. I have used that method before and it really works .
  8. Went out Friday morning, and it wasn't too bad. Mainly a little light drizzle for about the first hour of fishing. After that it did everything from a slow soaking rain to raining cats and dogs. We didn't have a pump in the boat so we were scooping the water about every 1/2 hour or so. We boated 6 small LM in six hours, and then said enough. Checked the tackle bag this afternoon and it had finally dried out.
  9. IMO fishing in the winter is like fishing in the summer. You have to find them and get a pattern going.
  10. I use a lot of Booyah and Strike King jigs. This time of year I will add a Zoom Super Chunk as a trailer.
  11. I know how you feel. I think that I am on a first name basis with some of these dinks.
  12. Pig Sticker
  13. Y'all forgot to mention my favorite "its over yonder".
  14. Night and early morning I like to throw a black jitterbug. After the sun comes I switch over to a green frog. If it gets cloudy I will start to throw a chrome popper.
  15. Looks like you had a blast down there!
  16. Great fishing, especially when there is some type of vegetation growing out of it.
  17. So when the kid grows up and becomes a serial killer we'll know who to blame.
  18. The only time I don't get out is if the water is iced over.
  19. Last winter I had shoulder surgery and didn't get out until March. This year I'm getting out if the water isn't hard.
  20. I have worked at the same place, and done the same thing for over 25 years now. I have had I guess around 10 bosses in that time. Some of them have been good, and some of them were back stabbers. It never took me long to figure out which type of boss I was working for. Point is that just because he is not giving you a "good job" all of the time does not mean he does not think you're doing a good job. It may just be the way he was taught to manage.
  21. It really gets you when they tell you to stay in the car. They don't need to be walked to class anymore.
  22. Years ago when you bought a new product from a manufacturer you bought it because you had dealt with that company before and you knew what you were buying. Today with all the big companies trying to cut costs you never know what you are going to get. For me, brand loyalty is dead. I look around on the internet to see what others have to say before I make a purchase. If people are going to give the next Shimano line a good review I will buy one, but I will not buy one just because it is a Shimano.
  23. Jig and pig. I would drop it straight down next to one of those trees that are still standing.
  24. Rain suit, sunblock, extra hat, and knife. That's about it.
