  1. After it has been dark for a while I fish on top with a Jitterbug, and on the bottom with a jig and Texas rig. Jitterbug is always black, and I start off the bottom baits with black and go from there.
  2. At least you managed to keep the skunk away.
  3. I've done it both ways and hardly slept at all either way. Now that I have gotten older I look for a ramp near a hotel.
  4. I've torn up trolling motors hitting logs in ponds. I can't imagine hitting a heavy object running at top speed.
  5. I use a small sharpener I got from Amazon for about $4.
  6. I'm going to be fishing around submerged vegetation until it starts to die off. Then I'll either look for wood or deeper vegetation that is around well defined structure.
  7. Most weeks I only get out on the weekends. If it's too windy for a boat then I fish off the bank. Thunderstorms don't tend to stick around more than 1 to 1-1/2 hours so I will wait them out. The only thing that keeps me home is hard water.
  8. I fish in a pretty pressured lake so it's fairly common for boats to go around each other. What really burns me is when a boat runs right through the area I am fishing in.
  9. I just start mixing and matching rods and reels until I hit a combo that feels right to me. If it feels good when casting then I leave them paired.
  10. I loosen my drag on all the reels. I don't want to snag the line on something and break the rod, or lose a guide.
  11. I'd see if I could return the gift certificate for cash.
  12. The bass in the water I fish don't really head up into creek channels, but they do start to move around more.
  13. That was cool.
  14. Look on the bright side. Maybe they will have some good eats.
  15. I have a 24 oz. mug that I fill up at work probably 2 or 3 times a day. When I get home until the time I go to bed I have 3 or 4 16 oz. stadium mugs of water. In between, I will have a glass of milk, and maybe some tea.
  16. Oh wow, that is great to hear!
  17. First thing I change up is my retrieve. Sometimes the bass won't go after a jig being hopped, but they will go after a jig that is dragged. After that I'll change the depth, bait, and color.
  18. My skill level depends on how the bass are biting on the day of the trip.
  19. I'm not too worried about what the rod looks like as long as it does its job. I do wipe them down after a trip to get the muck off.
  20. Most of the time I start off with a craw or a creature bait to get a feel for how thick the mat is. I'll fish that on with a double weight if I'm having trouble getting through the mat, Usually a bullet weight in front of a barrel weight.
  21. For a 4" Senko I use a 2/0 EWG hook. For 5" and up I use a 3/0 EWG hook.
  22. I have pitched a black jig with a black trailer and not caught squat until I removed the black trailer and put on a blue one. Sometimes they like the color, but the bait needs to be modified before the bass will hit it. Most of the time, I have to change the profile. I just keep changing until I find what the bass are biting.
  23. I like a few of today's artists, but mostly I listen to classic rock from the '60s and '70s.
  24. Zoom Mag 2 in watermelon red, black grape, or tequila sunrise. I like a heavy weight when I can get away with it to keep the bait down close to the bottom. Deep for me is between 15 and 20 fow.
  25. I catch more with watermelon or black/blue jigs. I would rate my pb&j success right up there with straight brown, it's non-existent.
