  1. I'd go with @papajoe222 suggestion with the lighter wire hooks. You might also try taking up some slack and letting the fish have the bait a couple of seconds longer before setting the hook.
  2. I like to fish with light, compact, jigs. Around 1/8, or at most 3/16 size. I'll put on a trailer like a UV speed craw, or a cut down Rage Craw. Something big enough so that if the jig starts to sink in the vegetation the trailer will catch it.
  3. This is the one bait I have fished with on a regular basis that I have no confidence in. The only fish I have ever caught on this bait is one skinny dink bass.
  4. I think my catches are about half and half. It doesn't matter if I'm in a boat or walking the bank, if I start seeing sunfish swimming out in the open and catching them, then I change locations.
  5. I will fish the t-rig or jig on a tight line unless the bite it very light. If the bass are just barely hitting the bait I'll keep the line tight until I feel that first tick. It is usually only one tick and very light, so when I feel it I'll drop the rod a bit to put some slack in the line. Then I'll wait a few seconds to see if the bass is going to pick it up and run with it. I don't want that fish to sense any resistance.
  6. Welcome to the forums.
  7. As another angler that has used BPS reels in the past, I would buy the Shimano.
  8. Oh I thought this was about the spawn.
  9. I've been using an SLX 150. It works good with 1/4 ounce baits.
  10. I used those green extremes from back in early 90's. I went through 3 of them, each one went back to the store because of problems. One of the reasons I'm leery of house brands today.
  11. Their high end rods are pretty good for bottom contact baits, but the lower end rods I only use for moving baits like crankbaits, and spinnerbaits.
  12. Tubes. I have some in my tackle bag, but I always seem the grab the creatures or craws.
  13. Most of the time I fish a 3/8, 1/4, and 1/8 ounce jig. The weight depends on the wind and how thick the vegetation is. The heavier the vegetation the lighter the jig. As for as colors go, I let the light level determine that. Most of the time I'm using green pumpkin, black / blue, and black jigs. I will try to match the trailer to the skirt, but I don't want an exact match. I like a little contrast in the mix. I'll keep the sizes the same but either change out the trailer or hook it differently after about half an hour or so.
  14. 1. Don't hook your fishing partner. 2. Don't hook yourself.
  15. 1/2 ounce Cordell Super Spot in chrome / blue back or a 1/2 ounce Cordell Super Spot in copper craw.
  16. Between 4-1/2 and 6 pounds. That's a healthy looking bass.
  17. Hope you have a quick recovery. My mom had shingles back when I was a teenager. She said it was the worst pain ever.
  18. I can think of one more. The bass can't see you through the muddy water so you can get a little closer to the cover they are hiding in.

    Welcome to the forums.
  20. It always seems like hunters and anglers are the ones finding human remains.
  21. I think it would be interesting to see how their top baits compare to our top baits for the same bodies of water.
  22. Well I needed a fire craw trailer to go with the vibrating jig, and the swim jig was in the bargain bin. What could I do?
