  1. I'll take a picture and then add text to the pic so I can remember the time, bait and conditions. When I get home I use the picture to update my fishing log. Afterward, the picture gets deleted unless the bass was a hawg.
  2. You had a cool trip! Great write up too.
  3. I'll fish them year round, but in the summer I will be fishing them deep most of the time. 10' down or more.
  4. If the bottom doesn't have too many snags you could try a small jig and craw. I like a 1/8 oz. size for pressured water.
  5. Nothing, but if the bass are short striking, I'll add a trailer hook.
  6. I used to have a problem with jigs, but then I read that you retrieve them the same way as a Texas rigged bait. The determining factor for me is how thick is the cover I'm fishing. If the cover is patchy then I use a jig.
  7. I can sum up my summer with one word, grass. The bass have either been in the coontail, or around it. The larger bass have been down toward the bottom, with the smaller ones up near the surface. They haven't been chasing, but if you can get the crankbait close enough they will jump out to ambush it.
  8. That's easy. Either weightless or on a split shot rig. The bass around here see a ton of wacky rigs, and Texas rigs. They don't see a lot of split shot rigs with a plastic worm on the end.
  9. A jig, plastic worm, and a senko type bait. These three baits seem to work in a variety of different bodies of water regardless of the conditions.
  10. Weightless. If I fish with a weight and that exposed hook I tend to get snagged a lot.
  11. I'll try a Zoom finesse worm or a 6" Creme Scoundrel either weightless or on a split shot rig depending on the wind. If the cover is more on the patchy side I will fish with a 1/8 ounce jig, or a Texas rigged UV speedcraw. If I can get a moving bait through the cover then I'll try a small wakebait or a small floating minnow. If all else fails I will put on a 3" BPS Stik-O on a split shot rig.
  12. Nice catching! I've had three spinnerbaits break on me over the years. I lost the fish on the first one, the second broke as I was casting it out, and the third one broke above the R so I got the fish, but lost the blades.
  13. A lot of the ponds I fish have water striders in them. If the water striders are just sitting there, then most likely there aren't any fish around. If they are cutting up and going in circles then most likely there are sunfish or minnows around, and that means bass are close by.
  14. Glad to hear Lynn's coming home. Thoughts and prayers sent.
  15. Mine is landing the bass. When the bass is in the boat or up on the bank it means I have put the puzzle together correctly, at least for that one fish.
  16. Congratulations! Good looking pup!
  17. 4" Zoom Finesse Worm - Watermelon , Grape 6" Creme Scoundrel Worm - Watermelon, Grape Zoom UV Speedcraw - Green Pumpkin, Watermelon Red, Black Red Flake Zoom Fluke - White Pearl Senko - Junebug, Green Pumpkin.
  18. A little late but Happy Birthday!
  19. I have a Buck Ranger that was a gift from my brother in law, and a Buck 110 that was my dads. My everyday knife that I use for everything is a Master.
  20. Hope you're feeling better. Do what the doctors tell you, take it easy, and you'll be back out on the water in no time.
  21. Daiwa CT100H and a Shimano SLX-150 is what I use for crankbaits. CT100H for baits around 3/8 and heavier, while I use the SLX-150 for lighter baits.
  22. I haven't tried anything new this season. Plastic worms rigged weightless, wacky, or with a split shot have been my best baits so far this year.
  23. That bass really wanted that bait.
