  1. X2 Went in today and picked up some stuff for 50% off clearance price. Get it while you can!
  2. I am one of the ones that said that earlier in the thread. But everyone is different, and that is what works fine for me. You just need to play around with everything until you find what works best for you. What works for someone else may not work very well for you.
  3. Talked to a guy at dicks today that said everything will go to 50% off the clearance items on the 15th
  4. Instead of turning your tension off I would just turn your magnets to like 6 or 7
  5. Set it to where your lure drops on it own but not real fast. Tighten it up all the way then go click by click from there
  6. This sounds like it could be it.. Sometimes if I back lash a tiny bit I won't pull it out thinking I can just cast it out. Better be sure just to pull the line out and not ignore it lol. Thanks for the help!
  7. I've had the most success with two breaks engaged and two that aren't on my lews TP, and have my magnets around 3 or 4, then adjust your tension knob from there based off of what your throwing. But of course everyone is different
  8. Lol well obviously but I'm not sure how to word it. The line wrapped around the spool is breaking.. Not the line in the rod.
  9. Twice this sumer I have had line break the line around my spool. First time was with line that I had strung up since last summer so I figured that it was just old. Today I had 15 lb trilene fluorocarbon break around my spool after being on for two days. Both of these happened on two different reels and two different kinds of line. Could this be a user error or could it be that I had old line on the first and some defective fluorocarbon the second time? I have never had this happen to me before these two.
  10. Another vote for the veritas. Just got the 6'9" microguide and I love it
  11. There is another lews TP in the flea market for $125
  12. You could do a lot of things with this setup as you have a reel with a very versatile gear ratio and a rod with a versatile power. The only thing you really couldn't do well is throw crank baits. You want reel with a slower line retrieve to do that. It can be done just not as easily.
  13. I'm sure she can't care for that price lol! I just picked up a lews tournament pro from the flea market to put on it. That's gonna make for a pretty sweet combo
  14. Just picked up a 6'9" MH fast action micro guide veritas rod off of one of the buy.com stores. With this particular store you get free shipping on orders over $50. I am a tight wad so I was pumped when I found this deal. They have the winch models for $62! Here is the link http://redsgear.store.buy.com/c/all/123-0.html?phrase=Veritas
  15. Im about to get a veritas and was seeing how true the rod power is on these. I have read some places that a MH feels more like a H and so on. Also, anybody like the micro guides over the regular rods?
  16. 6.4.1 is for sure the most versatile
  17. If you are only looking for a reel under $100 then that is the best purchase you can make for $80. I just got the same one except in a 6.4.1. ratio and I like it alot, but I think my next buy is going to be the tournament speed spool.
  18. Just search lews on here and you will find a bunch of information. There is a TON more good things said about them then bad
  19. I have not owned the TP but everyone has said great things about it. You can pick one up off eBay for around $160. I have the $99 speed spool and I believe it's the best real you can buy in that price range.
  20. May have to get the tournament speed spool.. Seems like not many people have the MG
  21. You could get a veritas and use the extra money on other stuff
  22. Im looking to add a new casting setup as I only have one right now. Right now I have a 7 ft medium heavy fast action st croix mojo bass rod and the $99 lews speed spool in a 6.4.1. ratio. I fish alot of soft plastics and top water baits which I feel like this seup covers for the most part. Im needing help decideng what action my next rod should be and the ratio of my reel. I also fish swim baits, rat l traps, jigs, and some crank baits. I have decided the pole im getting will be a veritas and im getting a lews reel to put on it. Im just needing help deciding what will cover other areas that im missing with my current setup. Thanks, Shaun
  23. Does anybody else have experience with the MG or tournament speed spool? I was messing around with both of them at cabelas today and liked their feel. Don't have the money for the TP and there are MG's and tourney speed spools on ebay for good prices.
  24. I just purchased my first lews reel which was the $99 speed spool the other day. After reading some very good reviews on the whole lews line I figured I would give this one a shot. So far I have been blown away by it, for it being towards the bottom of their line of reels. Paired it up with my 7 ft st croix mojo bass rod and I can cast the thing a mile. I believe I will be getting the tournament pro in the near future.
  25. Hey gang, Im new to the forum and came across it looking for spots to fish in or around the joco area. Im from Wichita but play baseball at Johnson County so am unfamiliar with the area fishing wise. Im really just needing some of you to point me in the right direction to catch some bass. I don't have my boat up here so that limits me on what I can do. We have tried a couple parks in the area but have had no luck really. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
