  1. Congrats Live_2_Fish!!!! Same thing happens in all my tourney pools every year. I am deadly in the 1st and 2nd round. I usually jump out to a pretty big lead. Then it seems like from the Sweet 16 on I go no where and everybody else starts catching me. Same thing happened last year in the BR pool. I believe it was Matt_Fly that caught me last year. Congrats again, looking forward next years
  2. For sure. I know it's only one game, but Meche was very impressive. Maybe Dayton Moore was on to something. On the way home from fishing I listened to a radio interview of why they gave him the big contract, etc, etc, etc. He sold me even before the game. Now after the game I am completely sold.
  3. What a day so far!!!! Went out this morning and absolutely wore them out on a Rat-l-trap. The thumb is raw!!!! Third cast of the day I landed a nice chuncky 4 lber and for about the first two hours I bet I didn't go 10 cast without a bite. I also caught about a 6 lbs catfish that I was sure was the new state record bass before I saw it. Big disappointment. Got home in time to see the bottom of the first. 1-1 in the bottom of the 2nd with the Royals threatening. Then we got the B-ball game tonight. What a day
  4. First off, forgive me Shimano Posse, for I have sinned. I bought my first non Shimano reel in quite a few years. After switching over all my old Curados to the newer 100 size ones and a Scorpion MG, my 200B5 I had left for cranking felt awkward. I wanted to stay with Shimano, but they don't offer a lower gear ratio 100 size reel in the under $150 range. I would have to go up to a Chronarch and I just can't justify spending that kind of $$$ on a technique specific reel at the moment. So I did some research and I settled on a Team Daiwa Advantage 150P. So far so good. The only problem I see is the line capacity. If I load it up with 10 lbs line, it will hold probably close to 200 yards . I don't need that and that's wasting a lot of line when at the most I will only use the first 75 yards or so. I know I could use some backing, but I just don't like that much line on there period. I see the Super tuned version has a bit shallower spool and it will probably hold somewhere around 150 yards. That's getting a little better. Is that compatible?? Any other shallower aftermarket spools that will fit it that don't cost an arm and a leg?? Thanks
  5. I fished these ALOT 2 and 3 years ago. For whatever reason I haven't fished them much in the past year. I really liked the Grasshopper Green. I think it's one of the all time best colors. I will try to fish them more this year.
  6. Ever tried a "power drop shot"?? I forgot who challenged me to this in the member challenge last season, but I think it would be a good technique in Florida. Tie a plastic bait of your choice (I eventually found that I like Zoom Trick Worms the best) about 6-10 inches (quite a bit shorter that a traditional drop shot) above a fairly big weight, 1/2 - 1 oz. It's great to pitch into holes in the grass along the edges. I also experimented using jigs as the bottom weight. Afterall, two baits are better than one .... right??
  7. You know, must of the time people just say this when you get a good chuckle out of the post, but this time it was the absolute truth.
  8. Opening day has to be one of the best days of the year. First off, I usually take the day off rather that be from school, work, or both . It's usually warm enough to go fishing so I do that in the morning. Forecast is looking good for Monday. High in the low 80's. Yipee, but it looks like the wind will start to become troublesome around noon. No problem. That will give me enough time to get home to get ready for the Royals game. Open up the windows, let the spring breeze blow in, sip on some iced tea while I watch the game. Ahhhh life is good. Then to top it off, the NCAA B-ball championship is that night. Looking forward to Monday.
  9. Drop my first cast straight down (barely in the water), that way I don't catch a fish on the first cast of the day ..... aka The Kiss of Death
  10. Funny looking bass, long one though ;D
  11. Hawg_Hunter, KU, Dirk, Avid, etc etc etc........you dig? Digging up change out of the couches weekly. ;D
  12. That was my plan too. High winds and rain just about the whole week. Made it out once Hopefully you will have better luck than I did.
  13. Finally finished it. I had to leave again at the part you were trying to turn the head of the t/m by hand. As the man himself would say
  14. I just made it past the first 5 lines or so and I am laughing too hard to read the rest. I will have to come back to it. ;D ;D ;D Scissors ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
  15. Congrats on being the 66th best team in the nation ;D ;D ;D j/k
  16. Kansas you can print them out right away. Missouri you print out a proof of purchase and the real license comes in the mail
  17. Crap!!! Payday is tomorrow. I was gonna pull the trigger.
  18. Very nice. Size is all relative. Congrats!!!!!!!
  19. You got it. Sorry to hear about the loss.
  20. I do this as well, but I do it once a year. I also just feed it from one reel to the other. You must look funny wrapping fishing line around your house. ;D ;D I will fish a whole season, then flip the line and fish another season. So I am basically getting two years out of that 100 yards or so. But I also don't use my braid set-up that often.
  21. Simplify your choices. Color is not as important as action. I have limited myself to basically two colors for plastics for the past couple years on an experiment. Green (dark) and Black. The muddier the water the more I lean towards black. The clearer the water the more I lean towards green. The experiment has been a success and all I carry now are basically those two colors with a few other seasonal colors thrown in the mix.
