  1. I am a Shimano guy, but the Advantage is the best reel for the money I have ever used.
  2. Found a clump of them the other day in my yard as well ......dead. I am guessing it was cats. Very small puncture wounds. I have a dog, but I don't think a 100 lbs lab would have been as "neat".
  3. That was awesome!!!! Very entertaining Looks like good times
  4. I have recently got a TDA 150P and a TDA 153HST(super tuned) ... for what it's worth I can't tell a difference between the two. I do however like the looks/finish and the line capcity better on the super-tuned.
  5. Instructions for at the pump
  6. I could be wrong, but I was under the impression that Luck "E" Strike was a BPS exclusive brand
  7. All in what you are used to. I touch mine when I first get the reel and then never touch them again .... 3 in 3 out I just got my first 2 Daiwa reels and it took me a while to "get it down" as well.
  8. Not what you were expecting huh? ;D ;D
  9. OK, KU. The chart. We want it. NOW> It's based on a series of extensive scientific tests that I will not get into. I could right a book about it and I don't want to bore you with that scientific mumble jumble ....... thermodynamics, cytokinesis, passive transport, active transport, mitosis, meiosis, yadda, yadda, yadda (All the Biology terms I can remember off the top of my head. Don't ask me what some of them mean ;D :) So here it is ....... Based on my experiences of "You never know" and 'You snooze you lose"
  10. That was an awesome race
  11. Very Nice!!!!! What lake? I went out to Lone Star this morning. Chocolate milk!!!!! Caught a bunch of dinks on a variety of baits at a variety of depths. Couldn't find a quality bite. Still fun though after the two week lay off. Nice Kansas hawg
  12. Thre chart never fails
  13. Currently Booyah. I own and use quite a few different brands, but the majority of them are Booyahs. I am also going to dabble with making my own soon.
  14. That's exactly where I was/am. I bought one back in high school to"get off the shore". I bought the boat, my dad bought the trolling motor. 10+ years and still going strong. I bought a Jon last year and fixed it up, but still preferred my 2 man boat. It was just less worrisome in bad weather (wind and cold water). So soon as I graduate from college (one more semester), get a job and my finances straight, I would like to buy something like a Bass Tracker and then eventually graduate up to a bigger glass boat.
  15. So we ALL should be driving cheap economy cars, living in trailers, fishing with Zebco 33's, etc, etc. I guess when it comes down to it, unless you are fishing for food, we don't NEED to fish. Just a waste of money no matter how cheap your equipment is. IMO a person has no business telling someone that their high dollar equipment is dumb, stupid, un-needed, etc, etc. And vice versa These threads get old.
  16. My buddy uses all spinning gear and all braid. I don't know if it's just him or what, but I noticed his braid doesn't seem to lay tightly on the spool. I don't know if that is your case, but I culd definitely see how it would effect capacity on my buddy's reels.
  17. Pshhhh ... Home made baby ;D
  18. Good stuff. The KU "Season Opener" will be headed to a fishing forum near you in the near future ..... hopefully. It's been tough getting footage so far. Seems like this prespwan it was always too windy to set the tripod up when I was solo. I am scared now from what happened last year. And secondly .....my camera man SUCKS. I had some good bed fishing footage ... I thought. My buddy is kind of getting into this video idea and he actually had this brilliant idea. We would find some bedders worthy of fishing for and then we would take turns fishing for them. Who ever wasn't fishing was dropped off on shore to video tape. We had one fantastic day a few weeks ago. Although I was doing most of the catching I thought we had a ton of footage. I get home and it's all CRAP. Seems like he always aimed the camera about 2 ft too high. All you can see is water splashing and then all the zooming in and out will give you a headache. Of about 6 or 7 bedders over 4 lbs, only two of the videos were usable and only portions of them at that.
  19. I am not going to lie, I look at those charts, but it never decides whether I am goig or not. This chart has never let me down
  20. Sorry SOB. This dog fighting thing has put me over the edge
  21. I have one rigged at all times during the summer. I fish them a lot on deep off shore structure. Seems like the hotter the better. I have yet to catch a monster on them for as much as I throw them, but lots of 4-5 lbs bass. I am personally a fan of YUM 10" Ribbontails - Tequila Sunrise, any dark green, and any black color. A few years ago I went prefishing with my dad and one of his work buddies on Truman. That's where I first fell in love with big worms ....... and got the confidence to throw them. Between the 3 of us, we had 20+ lbs in the boat in about 15-20 casts He blanked the next day :
  22. Sounds badly over-populated
  23. Different strokes for different folks. Switching to baitcasters exclusively has probably been the single best thing I have done for me. I just plan and simple feel more comfortable in all aspects of fishing with a baitcaster in hand. About weightless plastics ... they really aren't weightless. You just aren't adding extra weight. I don't know the numbers, but I estimate a 5" Senko weighs around 1/4 oz. I also occasionally throw 1/8 oz jigs, but once again when you add the trailer your approaching that 1/4 oz mark. Those are the lightest baits I throw. Sure casting into the wind is a little more difficult, but with practice it becomes much easier. For me it's worth it. And as bshaner said, if the wind gets bad enough I can't do it with a baitcaster, I doubt that "weightless" bait would even be effective. Handling light line?? Got my 50 MG spooled up with 6 lbs test
