  1. try a screen protector from the follwing company: http://www.shieldzone.com/ I have heard that they not only save you from further scratches but that it some what hides existing ones. I have one on my GPS and couldnt be happier. Check out the demo page. this stuff is really tough.
  2. try this post. it was very extensive http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1137692024/0
  3. turns out the MG motors have MK-spaced mounting holes. BUT, you have to take a plate off the front of base to find them.. once you mount the base you secure the plate with supplied screws. So, if you are switching tm, DO NOT DRILL NEW HOLES. It is not needed
  4. i'm no artist but something like this??
  5. Hooks n' Ladder??? create some kind of logo that incorporates hooks/flames/ladders
  6. what about cinder blocks? i have 5-7 blocks i thought about dropping and marking with my gps. do these work well?
  7. noodlin as i was told growing up in the south (Texas) is when you fish with your hands, usually for catfish. i've seen it, but never have done it
  8. i use an Outdoor Research wide brimmed Seattle Sombrero hat. Gortex lining. I use this fishing and backpacking. http://www.altrec.com/outdoors/outdoorresearch/hats/brimmedhats/ covers your neck and does not not interfere with a backpack; for those of you who pack.
  9. I do jokingly name mine after my wife, because its tempermental too. That's funny. Is it now named after your ex-wife? Fishous? I like the play on words. Low Budget Hookers is a classic. I almost named my second boat "Boat-dacious II" but if you saw this boat you would soon realize there is only one Boat-dacious!
  10. I have had two boats. my old 14 ft v-hull was just that, real old. Had an old 1969 9.5 johnson (nick-named "ole reliable). This boat's name was "Boat-dacious" My new to me, but 20 year old boat is named "Hook Em'" and will soon have the pic you see on my posts stuck on the transom. Curious, does anyone name their boats anymore? And if so are there any unique names out there? We had a post late last year where you posted a pic of your boat, but no names. So...? names?
  11. that sounds like a lot of work and a huge headache. keep looking. i was able to find a 15'4" 1986 skeeter with a 75hp, fish/depth finder, TM, trailer, etc for $2500. it's just like the one in this post http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1121303946 except a mariner 75hp. nothing special but it gets 40mph with just me. KEEP LOOKING
  12. mattfly has a link in an above post. it's a great program.
  13. they donate them to parks and wildlife. they pair them with pure florida strain males. that should make rattletrap happy. i have been lucky enough to live in 2 of the three best fishing states (florida and texas) but i doubt i will ever find my way to california...too expensive.
  14. Clermont. Home lake would be John's Lake.
  15. I currently have a hand control with a Big Foot but will be installing my new foot control soon. I am sure I will love the foot control. Too many times I'm trying to position the boat (especially more so in windy conditions) when i should be casting. Also have had to perform a little two step on the deck trying to land a fish and keep the boat from running into docks, etc with the hand control. Foot seems to be the only way. Why else would everyone on the circuit be using them?
  16. It was and still is a bit remote. it was a great place to grow up (speaking as a dad now) with the low crime, great climate. but the sand storms and constant wind got real old. not to mention the stock yard smell after a rain, aided by southern winds. And on top of that Lubbock is dry. you cant buy (except in restaurants) an ounce of liquor or beer in the entire city. And it will always be that way. once i graduated i left. But im still proud of where im from, especially the Texas part. interesting point....lubbock city water is piped down all the way from amarillo.
  17. I confirmed you can do this with some ProMariner chargers and the manual looks idential to the BPS chargers as well. Makes sense since PM makes the BPS chargers. But you'll need to confirm with your exact manufacturer's manual if it is not a PM or BPS charger here is a snipet from ProMariner manual regarding installation of an extra bank. "Note: When only using one battery connect output 1, output 2, and output 3 red wiresto the positive side of the battery, and connect the black or yellow ground wires to the negative side of the battery. Not recommended for ProTournament300 or 300Quad. If only two batteries are used connect the unused output cable as instructed above to either one of the two batteries.Always connect each charger output to a single 12V battery even if the batteries are wired series for 24V or 36V." you can also read the entire manual at: http://72.14.203.104/search?q=cache:7FviEN1nHc8J:pmariner.com/download.php%3Ffile%3DPT_Manual.pdf+owners+manual+promariner+on+board+charger&hl=en&gl=us&ct=clnk&cd=1 upper right, page 7.
  18. i was born and raised in Lubbock Texas and back then (born in 69) there was nothing for fishing. Buffalo Lake was the only "large" body of water and was/still is a bit nasty. Some day I'll get back to Lubbock (Happiness is Lubbock Texas in my rearview mirror....Mac Davis) and hit this lake.
  19. I'm almost positive your 3 bank will work with just two batteries. i just installed a two bank for two batteries and if i remember correctly there were instructions on how to set it up for one less battery than banks on charger. If someone else doesnt beat me to it I'll re-read my owner's manual and get back to you.
  20. im replacing my MK with a new MG. what do i use to fill the holes from the old motor mount?
  21. all i use is a lock that fits in the coupler as if it was a ball. electronics are stored in the garage.
  22. try rubbing compound, then go back with a wax. i have done the former and plan to do the later.
  23. I too have launched the way described and as Flatfish stated it is quick. I believe an e-mailer sent a question about single-person launch into BassCenter several months ago and they described a launch just like Flatfish's. There is no reason to "launch" or "throw" a boat off the trailer, just drive it in till it floats. The only wrong way is one that takes too long.
  24. i had a 14 foot v-hull with a 9.9 and it pushed it around great. I think the appealing thing with a motor below 10hp is it can be run by anyone of any age above 12 or so. this could be a selling point when you ever get around to selling it. With fuel and two adults, sometimes three it worked just fine. the price seems a bit high, unless that motor is a real new model. I sold my 14 with pedestal seats, 28lbs TM, 9.9hp and trailer for 1000.
  25. forgot to mention... the vista, legend and any other garmin unit at this price or less uses a patch style atenna. the 60 and 76 series use a quad helix antenna. they both are equally as accurate when you have a clear sky and no obstructions (like on the water). But once you head into the woods or any type of canopy the quad helix excels. AND another important difference is the patch ant. units need to be held parallel to the ground (for most accurate readings) while the quad helix units can be held anyway you want. this might sound trivial but when you have it sitting in a marine mount on your boat you want to be able to look at the screen with the same orientation you would look at a computer screen; not having to hover over a screen and looking down at the unit as you would if it was parallel with ground/sky. good luck and feel free to PM if you want more info about the 60 series.
