  1. Cart7 - could you give specifics about the whereabouts of a good area for spots? I'd love to take my ulta-lite and catch a mess of those fightin' SOB's.
  2. I've never fished it, but here is a copy and paste of someone's remarks from this forum about the area from another thread: When it warms up I'll walk down and see if there is any interest in a Wiggle Wart.
  3. Yeah, probably less than 2 miles away. I fish a lot of live bait (shiners) and get them at Denny Dennis. The weird thing is that they are closed on Sundays (and Mondays). So, if I fish on Sunday and want to use live bait, I have to go to a pay lake at Hwy 21 & 141 to get shiners. Heading to Bass Pro Shop in St Charles tomorrow to prepare for my trip to Stick Marsh next week 8-) I'm bored today and it's 15 degrees outside, so i made a map
  4. I live in Fenton, Mo - a suburb of St Louis. Most of the fishing I do are subdivision ponds where a buddy lives in Pevely, and at Lake of the Ozarks where my Mother and her husband have a place.
  5. I have it too. I think i got it when I renewed with Bassmaster several years ago. It's a very interesting read!
  6. I guess it's possible the 6lber was caught and released and was resting before heading home or maybe decided to hang around for a while. At Lake of the Ozarks, my stepfather routinley catches large fish on all parts of the lake and releases them at his dock at the end of the day. We've always wondered how many stay around...
  7. Save all the big ones for me, George! By the way, I can't speakly highly enough about George and Scott and their operation. This will be the third time I have used them on Stick Marsh and have been more than pleased with their services. I have had bad guide experiences in the past, but George and Scott at Imagination Guide Service are by far the best I have ever used. I think every serious bass fisherman deserves a shot at the Marsh, and these guys will put you on fish! See ya next month, Christian
  8. I went away to college at SEMO in Cape and fished Lake Girardeau 2 or 3 times a week for a while. The biggest non-Florida bass I ever caught was caught there from the bank on a power worm. I was by myself and had no camera :'( . I will be heading down to Stick Marsh next month for my 3rd annual big bass festivus with a buddy of mine. We absolutely love it there and since that's where we spend our money, that would have to be my vote. We only go for a couple days and only shiner fish, but those 2 days are the best fishing of the year usually (hopefully). I 'm getting excited right now just thinking about it and it's still 5 weeks away
  9. I fish a couple of farm ponds that belong to my buddy's family here in Missouri. Last year, on a couple of occasions, we would catch bluegill and then use them as bait for largemouth. It was very effective for catching bass, particularly larger fish, but I felt awkward about using a gamefish as bait. I think this would be illegal on a public lake, right? This is privavte property so it's not a question of legality, but intead a question of fishing ethics. What's your take?
  10. I started the thread, but I don't really have a good one, I guess that's good, as I wouldn't sleep for a month if I lost a monster. Here's the closest I have: My father and I were fall fishing at the Lake of the Ozarks. We found a main lake point by PB#2 that was stacked with fish. Fish 10 feet to the left or right of the point and nothing. On the point, however, fish after fish. We would fish, catch about 6 or so, leave and come back periodically and catch some more. We were throwing wiggle warts and my dad hooks into one that obviously has some serious pull. Then the line broke. My dad always takes this sorta thing mcuh better than I. He re-tied and we continued to fish. Then i saw a line floating/moving in the water. Sure enough, we grabbed it and reeled it in by hand and it is still to this day the biggest spotted/kentucky I have ever seen in person.
  11. Ok, let's here some stories of the one that never made it in the boat (or to the bank) and broke your heart.
  12. I can't get the videos to work, all I hear is sound. My defualt browser is Netscape, but I tried with IE, too????
  13. I used to live in Florida (Tampa and Ft Myers). While in Tampa I golfed at a place right by my townhouse (Westchase Golf Club for any locals). Anyway, while golfing I would occasionally see the same fisherman reeling in one after another at the driving range lake. I spoke with him and found out he was a friend of a person who ran it, but that they didn't give permission to anyone else > Well, It was Christmas day 2003 and all my family is in Missouri and the golf course was closed, so I gave it a shot. What a day! Nothing over 5, but tons of 'em and they all looked like footballs and all on my favorite bait: Wiggle Wart! The thing that's cool about Florida, other than the weather, is all the water/ponds/lakes EVERYWHERE. I was so busy working I didn't get a chance to try 1/1000th of the place I would have liked to.
  14. I have a different technique that I use. I Texas rig it, hookwise, but use a small slip-shot about 10 inches above the top of the bait. I like to fish brushpiles at Lake of the Ozarks this way and it has replaced where I in the past used a traditional Texas-rigged plastic worm or lizard. The only time I use a Senko without a weight is either in very shallow water, or in and around weeds/vegetation.
