  1. They don't produce well enough for me to use them more..
  2. I only downsize when I switch to a different species of fish. Don't really use huge lures to where I would downsize..
  3. 6'10MLXF and 6lb line. Really though it depends on the user
  4. Sounds quick, I've seen boaters take 2 to 3 times as long launching. I swear I seen a guy answer his phone in the middle of a launch and take aa extra 15 minutes . I ran into a guy who took forever leaving, I burned through a 1/4 tank of gas driving around waiting for this guy. I've even seen a kayak couple arguing at the ramp loading up their yak (or lack loading)
  5. Ditch the spirex and sedona, they are ok reels but a double handle could be more of an annoyance and the sedona can wear out quicker. The sahara and symetre are nice reels, I wouldn't go under the sahara line based off quality and smoothness. You will notice a small upgrade with the symetre over the sahara which I think is worth it. But since you are asking for it as an xmas present go for something even better in the line, a stradic fj 2500. They can even be found on ebay for around $140.
  6. The HF might be too stout, when I checked out the inshores (tidemaster/avids) they seemed a step heavier, look at the AI80MHF first
  7. My wife is a fan of those, shame they work better in the spring time and haven't faired well this fall-winter in our area.
  8. It's better than a skunk!
  9. Go on. I'm enjoying this thread
  10. Wife caught a mirror carp in our area, pretty rare
  11. It's not eva or a split handle, why are you switching your interest to a avid? I'm not a fan of eva, but I like the neoprene rage handle
  12. Depends what your dealing with now. Is your electronics that out of date? or You getting blown around to where you need a shallow anchor. what's more important to you

So the answer is mainly 'twinkles in their fathers eye'
  14. When all else fails: heavy equipment operator/earth mover
  15. I don't stop, if one spot is frozen I'll go somewhere else
  16. Like the bottom package pictured? I think they are older bags, I found a bunch of them on close out
  17. Look on the bright side, you can use them as bait
  18. Why is that? Recently been to a bps catalog outlet and they had like 40 of those marked at $99
  19. Fluro makes your wallet lighter
  20. I couldn't help you in size but when I went out looking for rings I ending up buying the big bags at cabelas in numerous sizes that way I'm set for anything, it was worth it since I ran into a big collection of cranks/jerks a little later down the road. I never ran into a problem with the house brand rings not have I ever heard anyone complain about any bad rings on a structural standpoint.
  21. Thanks for the vid
  22. It's like you don't want it, it's just not necessary to have a very sensitive rod because of moving bait and strike.
