  2. I will be happy enough to run the boat on open water.
  3. I'd start taking panels off and play with your throttle, see if you notice where it's sticking. Of course with the engine off and at home on the trailer
  4. 1. How do you know you casted further if you don't have another rod to compare to? The moderate action gives a better load on the rod when throwing baits, it doesn't hurt it. 2. Cranking on the bottom sends off a lot of feedback even if you're using lifeless rod. 3. Snap casting, whipping the bait with the rod in the beginning of the cast can create overrun, it's a sign you aren't using the right combination. You can get around it if you 'fan cast' but when you do that you are being gentile so you can get something out of wrong match up. A good example is when I throw 1/8oz jig/grub on a heavy rod, it is not easy but is manageable.
  5. You mean all the other jerkbaits or just the 110 knock_offs?
  6. My assessment is that what is commonly thrown around for deep cranking setups do work and work very well, enough to the point where it doesn't need to be questioned to use pool cue_like power.
  7. MBC70MHM graphite, it'll handle the ratings on the rod and a little bit more. I still use 2 of these and won't let them go.
  8. Very nice stick for the price imo
  9. When it comes down to it our area is more focused on hunting, then a little trout fishing. I would bet 5% would regard to fishing in general. About the Shad history story, you can find that anywhere, even on plaques along river trails I don't think spending $10 to look at new real tree camo patterns, the latest arrows or a tree stand is worth my time.
  10. I was thinking about it
  11. Larger spool diameter will fix the coiling from the tight winding, which means your line isn't optimal. I actually like using 1000 over the 500 size because I have more options on types of line and I don't need to caress the line with a conditioner. You could also be using too thick of a line. So either: 1.Use a bigger reel Or 2. Use a better line
  12. In the video his flippin stick looks wimpy when he casts. That rod is also almost 8 feet long so there is a lot more bend.
  13. The rod should still be moderate. You can use braid for lighter line and deeper results but using a fast action rod and braid is ridiculous
  14. Or life
  15. Ball head. If you can't catch'em on that you're either fishing an empty hole or you should hang up the rod
  16. Trout streams are still flowing
  17. Anything i use on bass
  18. You darn right should have, this is bass resource not bass speculation!
  19. You'll have to take care of any boat, if you leave it neglected then decide to run off to the ramp and use it then it's not for you.
  20. You got lead weights in your 51? Those excelsior are listed at 7.9oz. Most of my 51e's weight in at 6.95oz. I really liked the size of those 100 but it would've been better if they were just a lad bit lighter.
  21. When I heard old school I think cane pole and live bait. Nothing surprising or secretive there. Fishing isn't about going out and getting a huge fish right away, if that's what your looking for you're missing the whole point, you might be better off going to the local market and buying your finned friends. Extracting the info from more experienced anglers can only do so much anyways since every location and time of day can change the outcome. Best advice is the read here, search the forums for thing that'll interest you, when you have a specific question it'll be answered.
  22. It's awesome, get the HG model for a faster gear. Or not.
  23. It's middle geared so all you really need is to speed up or slow down a little. I use them for all my techniques and haven't found a reason to spend anything to upgrade the ratios for such a small margin of retrieval
