  1. For that shallow I just use a pair of water shoes and walk right in
  2. I was thinking that or cutting up some shim-stock to place in the gap
  3. What you do is an extension what you own. What you choose to have makes who you are.
  4. Whenever I shore fish a new area I throw on a cheap 1/8 to 1/2oz jig with a grub and cast around to get the feel of the bottom, it's gives a better detail so I know what I can throw and not lose anything
  5. I had that stuff once, thought it was a bad batch since it tasted horrible but it's just the flavor. Noting beats the taste of the old listerine pee yellow color though
  6. When they aren't hittin, is a good time to try out something new
  7. I don't replace a hook until it breaks
  8. Don't cheapen out on a baitcaster, it will most likely ruin your experence with it and you'll be like the countless for sale ads that say 'I'm selling this baitcasting combo I used once and couldnt get it' that are all over craigslist and the like.
  9. On most of my lower end -$100 shimano spinning reels (sienna, sahara, sedona) there's a gap (.021) in the grip on the handle. It looks to be arbor pressed in so how can I close the gap to where no side to side movement when I'm retrieving? I got some ideas but I'm wondering if there's a know solution for this
  10. You lost me on that one
  11. I've yet to bite the bullit and buy some, next time I'm out I'll get a few spools
  12. I'm curious, do the veritas have the same action as the vendettas fast action, it's a bit underrated and feel more like a extra fast
  13. Sure is a biggin, congrats
  14. ah-ha, my wife says that with her setup
  15. In one instance when you weren't fishing? Yesterday I was done fishing and driving back the path and decided to stop below the bridge to look into the water, saw some guy throwing in and well we started talking and he told me he was starting to get more serious into bass fishing this year. I spend over a half hour helping him out with the techniques he wanted to use and explain the types of old and new tackle he had in his new box, what locations to try and what to look for in the water to determine a better outcome. Seems like the time flied by, but I know it was the longest time I've ever talked to anyone about fishing without fishing.
  16. A good day you catch 2 small ones.. 7" and an 8" smallie, I was out in the water for the other so no photo
  17. The door swings both ways, for every guy with lower end gear that says that, there's a guy with higher end gear that things less about the other guys.
  18. It depends on what you want to do (technique) and if you want to retie on a similar setup, you dont need a 100 combos to fish though...
  19. For me, I prefer the middle ground. The intermediate level is good enough to be lighter/sensative/stronger/feels better in your hands than the most of the cheaper end equipment. It's tougher for me though since I have to use different tools to make me more comfortable to fish. It ain't easy being disabled, one heavy or rough feeling setup can wear me out faster holding it and disrupt my focus on what's going on with my line. I have a cheapo quantum UL rod that I can't use anymore due to the handle bothering me, the contour just doesn't deliver the comfort to hold long in my hand. So every time i go out to look at new gear I have to play with in store more than anyone just so I can enjoy my time on the water better. Some times it feel like the selection gets smaller, for example st croix's new legend tournament handles, they are uncomfortable to me but I'm sure people like them.
  20. That's one healthy looking football, you make it look easy.
  21. 3/0 to 5/0 hooks.. Every package comes with instructions
  22. Well since he fishes for fun too, the point of buying high end gear returning an investment, doesn't matter since he's enjoying them outside the 'job' aspect
  23. Total 180 here, but I've bent jig hooks to get my lures out from being stuck, with no nicks in the line on 6lb It truly is a love/hate line
