That would be the economic turndown. Before they were top notch, now they dropped the ball by not keeping the shelves stocked on items that are hot or how they dropped their lifetime warranties, even their in-house service. I can't walk around that store without being asked about getting their credit card less than 3 times. I admit though it's lesser of all evils when it comes to box stores

Full cork or an exposed rear is mainly preference. Having a split grip is seen more as a pro rod since the rear is exposed for sensativity, though sensativity is where you hold your setup. There is a huge difference between the mojo and avid though.

Don't really know your kids, or at least whats said about them outside this thread, but how they fish plays a huge role on what they are using. I really can't see them jumping up to baitcasting until they use and get use to specific techniques with spinning gear. I would recommend the typical ugly stik combo and work away from sit fishing and try a variety of baits first.

Ended up driving around hitting up shops today and decided to go to cabelas, first thing I always do is look in the bargain cave. Bam! brand new legend tournament 6'8"MF sitting there for $120. Someone bought it and returned it, nothing wrong but some dirt on the cork. Warranty wasn't even registered. Looks like I get to try out that NSI resin. Price was forgiving on my wallet
