  1. Exactly, we kill every one of them that we catch and I hope everyone does the same
  2. Yeah my friend and I were fishing a few days ago and he caught an 8 pounder on a chartreuse senko. I feel like when we are trying to catch them we don't and when we don't try to catch them we do. Another question...do you guys kill all the bowfin you catch?
  3. Can you have bigger than a 9.9 on Chick?
  4. I was thinking 9 to 9 and a half. I weighed it with a pretty crappy scale and it said 9 pounds 6 ounces, but I wasn't sure if the scale was accurate or not.
  5. I know a lot of beginners ask this but I am not a beginner ha I caught this bass 2 years ago and I weighed it on a pretty crappy scale. The scale said 9.6 but I put the length and girth into three different weight calculators and one said 11.1, one said 10.125, and another said 9.38. What do you guys think? Length-25 inches, girth-18 inches.
  6. Thanks!
  7. I've been wanting to fish swim baits for a while and I got some Shadilicious 5 inch I think. I bought some swim bait hooks but when I rig it the bait swims sideways or spins. What size hook is appropriate for a 5 inch swim bait?
  8. Once she catches more fish that are picture worthy I guess I could do that. But trust me I'm lucky ha
  9. Alright so sooner or later she is going to make me tell all of you this...she beat me today. 3 to 1. Although mine amounted to all 3 of her bass she still beat me with quantity. What do you guys think...quality or quantity?
  10. Sounds exactly like me. If I'm not doing so well with bass, or catching little one pounders, I love catching a nice big bowfin.
  11. Haha yeah I'm not quite sure how I ended up with such a perfect one. Thanks!
  12. See thats the thing she is gorgeous and likes to do everything I do. Sounds like the perfect girl for me...she looks so natural twitching a senko, its a pretty amazing sight ha
  13. I know this is a bass forum and I'm an experienced bass fisherman, but I was wondering if anyone had tips for bowfin. I'm going to a lake today that is full of them and I can usually pull one or two out with artificials. I mostly get them on crankbaits or zoom trick worms weighted. When the bass aren't hitting they put up a fun fight. Any tips?
  14. So I have been dating this beautiful girl for 7 months, she likes to adventure and try new things. So I decided to take her fishing about a month ago. She learned how to use my baitcasters her first day and was working a crankbait all day. A couple days later we went again and she couldn't seem to put all the aspects together but everytime a fish would run with my senko I would give the rod to her, she would set it, fight it and even take it off the hook. The next time we went she came with me in my kayaks and she caught a nice little bass before I did. I ended up beating her in our little competition 7 fish to 4 fish. But the past few times she has come with me I can see she is getting a lot better and more into it. She works an artificial worm like she has been fishing for years. Some pictures of her with her fish...she might catch up to me eventually.
  15. I have a technique that is deadly for me. I usually fish from a kayak or a boat so I line myself up parallel to the bank. I fish a gary yamamoto senko, usually june bug color, weightless on a 3/0 hook. Let it sink to the bottom and give it a fast pull and let it sink back down. They'll hit it on the downfall and your line will start running. I usually cast about 3-5 feet from the bank. I do really well with this technique early spring through summer
  16. 9 pounds 6 ounces on top water plug. Mid day in the summer about 3 or four feet off the bank. Destroyed it
  17. Hmm thats funny that you say that about the lake by CNU because I'm attending there next year. Any other good fishing up there?

  19. I used to use mepps spinners all the time and catch a ton of nice crappies. They get big in the small ponds, they average like 1.5 pounds in the one I fish.
  20. Even when the bottom is sandy and pretty flat? I use jigs a ton when I go to smith mountain lake or wisconsin because its rocky, but I've never really pulled one out here. And I have craw trailers, but again there aren't crawfish in the lake or area. Do you still suggest it?
  21. Any good fishing in norfolk?
  22. Thanks man, I'll go to dicks soon and pick some up!
  23. Thanks for the tips, I'll try some new techniques and let you guys know if I land any.
  24. This is true too, I watch my line so I know exactly when the fish even taps the lizard or worm. I watch my line go out for about 2 or 3 seconds and set it straight up. I haven't really hooked a bass in the stomach or throat in quite a while with this strategy.
  25. I read an article in a B.A.S.S Master magazine that said to cute around 20 inches of line and leave the hook, it will eventually swallow the whole thing and the hook will rust out. I've been doing this in the lakes I fish frequently and not once seen a dead bass on the surface. However, the one or two times I have just used pliers and tried to force the hook out of the throat or stomach I leave a dead fish at the lake. Not a good idea, I would leave 20 or so inches of line and throw the fish back.
