  1. spending the week with some friends on grenada lake mainly chasing croppie. in my reading up on the water i found out it has smallmouth. i would love to catch one as i have never even been on a lake with them before. does anyone have any info on how to get a hook in one i would greatly appreciate it. if had to guess the finness techniques i use on spots and largemouth would be a good start, but im lost as far as what structure and cover to target.
  2. the house my family lived in when i was born had a pond and some of my earliest memories are fishing. my moms dad had a pond in his back yard and we would use cane poles for brim, and my other grandad had a friend with a catfish pond we would frequent. at about 7 my dad started working at a tree nursery with several nice bass ponds and its been on like Donkey Kong
  3. you could clip on 2 spinnerbait blades.
  4. having millions and millions of fry introduced to the lake is not the best thing for it. do some research on recruitment in ponds and the efforts needed to fight it so your pond stays healthy. it takes 10lbs of food to grow 1 bass 1lb. so if the spawn is interrupted think how much more forage is available for the big fish.
  5. in that price range shop outboards then look at the hull its on. aluminum is easy to work on so if you find a outboard in great shape on a panfisher or some other nor bass format you can easily mod it to fit your needs.
  6. normal price of bps pq plus free rod http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-Pro-Qualifier-Tournament-Rod-and-Reel-Baitcast-Combos/product/1210200646593/ -$10 compared to reel alone. so free rod and $10 http://www.basspro.com/Quantum-KVD-Signature-Series-Reel/Accurist-Rod-Baitcast-Combos/product/1211100657003/
  7. is your practice plug possibly spinning on the grass as you reel it in? might put a snap swivel on the plug. i wouldn't put it to far up the line as that makes casting harder.. and i wouldnt put one on for real fishing.
  8. i like the small tuna pouches. i eat them straight on big cheez-its. usually have a poweraid or 2 on ice.
  9. also got a spike, doe and a button buck thinking it was a doe. but the freezer is looking good.
  10. i was going under the assumption you were keeping you charger plugged in all the time and thats why it was eating electricity. since i cant see a short charge spiking a power bill. so i thought a battery tender would be better.
  11. my main charger bonked so i tried to use my trickle maintenance charger to bring my battery back after a draw down. it took a week and it is a 2amp output. every solar charger ive ever seen is measured in fractions of a amp with big top of the line ones kicking out a whopping 1 amp. so i figure your talking minimum 2weeks for a full charge if your charger was in the sun 24/7, and zero effect while on the water. i would simply go with a battery tender. you can buy alot of electricity for the cost of a onboard system.
  12. get yourself a good non-disclosure agreement and have anyone dealing with your product sign it. what i have gathered researching a few ideas i had interest in patenting, including talking to a man who went through the whole process. when all is said and done a patent cost about $20,000. a patent is only a strong as the money behind it. if a corporation wants your product they will do what they want and when you try to stop them they will drag you through court till you have nothing left to spend. there are many people out to take advantage of would be patent filers.
  13. bass eat things that are up to half their body length so those fry are going to be on the menu for quite awhile. if you can see them they can see you.camo or at the very least earth tones will help with spooking some. polarized sunglasses will help you see in the water better. make you first few cast while standing way back from the waters edge.
  14. i have friends with a pond that is mainly smaller bass. i use a 1/0 hook it seems to hook up more in the front of the mouth around the lips more. when i first started i was used 2/0 and 3/0 like on the lake and it seem there was more trauma to the face region. ewg hooks seem to come through the face more might try the O'Shaugnessy Worm Hook
  15. when you cleaned it was it male or female. 4lbs is around max for a male so it could have been old/sick and simply ate something that required so much energy it finished him off.
  16. i used rustoleum primer and paint. used 3 of their camo colors and did digital camo. 3 years of hard use it still looks good.
  17. if you stand the boat and trailer on end it only takes up about 4 sq ft. got something in the yard you could prop it on. how do you have room for a boat but no trailer, would a simple folding tongue fix the problem
  18. my experience fish out of very stained water are much lighter in color than bass out of normal water. so i guess deep shade triggers their skin like dirty water.
  19. bass and striper have a firmer meat than catfish. it is close to many saltwater fish. i love to blacken it like redfish very tasty.
  20. the Louisiana bayou is crawfish country. think they have a lot of rocks and clear water?
  21. 75hp 2stroke. i never heard anyone say i wish i had a slower motor. it would probably will be cheaper for long term ownership. and they smell great.
  22. academy has good baits and often go on sale under $2. they also sell the cotton cordel rattle trap for $1.75 bps has a cheap jerkbait that has worked good for me.
  23. the lakes around here are miserable on summer weekend daylight hours between the heat and the traffic and drunks. i go during daylight some during the week. no way around it the LM bite is just slow this time of year. current seems to over come that so i fish alot below dams and in creeks. mainly i night fish around lights and catch all kinds of fish. i also put out jugs for catfish. i go wade fish a freezing cold stocked trout stream. youll get goose bumps in 100deg heat.
  24. i use fast orange.rub it on dry and let it sit for a minute then rinse.
  25. all the time. heck i won a tourn. this year with 3 fish only bites i got in 8hrs.
