  1. yeah it think you they are telling you they are there and feeding but not totally into what your throwing.i would either have a weightless soft plastic ready for a follow up or throw a hollow body frog i work slower and could let sit.
  2. bass are just large sunfish. watch what a small school of sunfish does when a food size item hits the water. they charge in to investigate.
  3. hollow body frog or buzz bait. with a weightless white, Merthiolate, or junebug trick worm for a follow up
  4. my dad and i were on a hot stretch of grass where we caught about a dozen in 60yds. we had one of these sitting close by everytime we would pull a fish out of the water or the livewell he would go to squawking and would not quit till the fish was out of sight.
  5. i was the only one to post a spot.
  6. i was fishing in a creek yesterday. catching small spots on 4''worms with ultralite gear and having a blast. i caught 1 and noticed 2 dead large flying male fireants in his mouth. thought it was odd showed the guys in the boat then threw him back. a few fish later a spot around a 1lb threw up a teaspoon of the same ants in various stages of digestion onto my deck. ive never thought of bass keys in on something like swarming ants. very trout like to me i wish had had my fly rod and tackle box with my brim ants. wonder how well matching the hatch would have worked. and going by our success the zoom worm hatch was on as well
  7. ill admit i had not research filter quality yet just did a quick product comparison. http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-Fuel-Filter/Water-Separator-Kit/product/45681/ it had a cheaper no name off brand look and said 10 micron then i saw the first one linked and saw it was a "name brand" and 20 micron a said its got to be better haha
  8. gonna put one on my boat since i purchased bad gas and have to clean the system anyway. was thinking this one as its a 20 micron vs 10 like all the others ive found. http://www.academy.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_10051_13919_-1__?N=388844276 welcome info, opinions and suggestion on a unit. bear in mind bass pro and academy are the only close places for this kinda stuff and i want to do this saturday so i dont want to do web order unless completely necessary.
  9. i would be comparing and researching honda, yamaha, and suzuki. those are the only 3 i would think of placing on my boat.
  10. rivets have been trusted on bridges, planes and many other important things for decades. i have a 1975 monark jonboat with a riveted hull. no leaks ,zero! 38 years of hard use and if i forget the plug is in it will fill with rain water till it flows over the gunnels. solid rivets can be rebucked or replaced in your garage with a few tools
  11. .22-marlin model 60 bigger- marlin 336 in 30-30 or similar lever action centerfire.
  12. deer,turkey,hogs and squirrels
  13. how clean is the water at grand lake. even though you dont have gel coat that white can get stained. you want to keep lower unit out of the water when not in use. constantly submerged water will get by your seals eventually. also be sure you have a automatic bilge pump in case in gets swamped while your gone.
  14. also you could reprop your boat with a high bite prop.
  15. H2O XPRESS™ 5-1/2" Hollow-Body natural green
  16. talk to your friend and get some info on the creek. let him know your intentions and ask for a trip with him explaining his route.
  17. i like blackened bass. mix equal parts garlic and onion powder, lemon pepper, half amount of black pepper and 1/3 amount of red pepper. dry the fillet with a paper towel then rub olive oil on the fillet. spread your seasoning on the fillet and put in hot cast iron skillet. cook till you have a good crust on each side and its falling apart.
  18. try getting on plane then backing down. you might be able to go the speed you want but have it work better with a different hull angle

    The Frog

for hollow body frogs you can make them walk the dog with very small twitches. jerk hard for a splash popper type retrieve or real slowly for a drag retrieve. also dont be afraid to let that puppy sit. and dont forgot to squeaze the water out of the body every couple of cast.
  20. looking to upgrade my electronics soon. this little unit seems great almost to good to be true. if you own this unit please give me some feedback/reviews on how it works and the pros and cons to you. thank in advance.
  21. i have built decks on 2 boats. i used 1.5'' x 1/8'' aluminum angle and rivets. it is plenty stout. fastening al. 2x4 will be a pain. just go around the perimeter, riveting every 6'' and 2 in the corners and then span the gap. if it has flex put in a single column and you should be good to go.
  22. elaztech worm superglued on a shaky head
  23. thats just poor time management and decision making to me. my"panic box" is not just lures it lighter gear /line, lighter weights, smaller baits, slower presentation and more cast per area. with 8hrs+ of fishing including a hour of prime morning time im not panicked. especially if a had a good practice or previous luck on the lake. why would i automatically start slowly fish 1 good looking dock for 20 minutes with a 4'' worm, hoping for a dink keeper. while all my competitors cover lots of fresh water catching the most active fish that im am no longer able to have a shot at....
  24. i would say go aluminum with a jap powerplant. you really buy the outboard and getting a hull with it. it doesnt matter how fast or how pretty if you dont trust it to get out of trolling motor range of the landing. second thing to look at id bottom width not beam. the wider the better as thats where your stability is found.
  25. i use 12lb seagar leader on 30lb powerpro these heads in 3/16 http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-Round-Head-Pro-Jigheads/product/10204998/ cheapest quality head ive found. i have spent quite some time looking and with setups in the clear creek in my yard. what ive learned is with a sinking worm a standup head doesnt stand for long before it flops over. a ball head never really goes vertical but holds the worm off the bottom. all the time and is much less snag proof. i much prefer a worm with buoyancy as you can pause it and slight water currentd will wiggle that worm more subtle than you can ever do. i shake pause shake back to the boat and have many many fish nail it on the pause. i fish everywhere ecxept over rip-rap as those hole just eat shaky head and way in thick grass( i work edges and sparse grass with it). on traditional plastic worms i take a knife and make a cut on each side at about a 45 angle making additional bite to hold the worm. i have been slamming these on this lately but the tear up so easy where the worm slides on the hook im constantly biting 3/8'' off to make it hold again. its 1 or 2 fish and done for the worm its self.http://www.basspro.com/Zoom-Mag-Shakey-Head-Worms/product/10205886/ tried these today and really liked them. http://www.basspro.com/Strike-King-Super-Finesse-Worms/product/90833/ they just need a little super glue to hold the on the jig head. but i see the potential for 100 fish easily out of a bag. the big bites squirrel tail works but is a brim magnet and you lose that tail bulb so fast it maddening
