  1. 4 years old but shows the market. With the way the economy has stayed I doubt high end sales have picked up much since thenhttp://www.boattest.com/Resources/view_news.aspx?NewsID=4405#bass
  2. Go with the one with the widest beam if the is a difference. I believe having a the biggest outboard rated for the hull is a most. Besides speed it can actually be more fuel efficient.
  3. Hard to judge. The pros are are choosing the best sponsor or one that qualifies them for contegency money. What brands Area dealers carry are going to have a great deal of impact on what you see. I live 20 minutes from bass pro and can't throw a rock without hitting a tracker. Nitro 6 and 7 are very common. Beyond that it is pretty even. I guess the only number that really answers this is units sold per year.
  4. the I.D. sticker is no longer on the bottom of the pedal. It is a maxxum 65lb trust from 2000ish. I can't Remember exactly when we got it and it's on its second boat. I know 1999 to 2002 is the range. I need a new armature. While I'm in there I want to do new bearing, seals, and brushes. Is it stamped or stickered anywhere inside the foot or pedal assembly?
  5. We had just launched and were at the dock getting everything set. A guy was launching solo a nice big stratos. as his hold rope got taunt your heard the click of a carabiner, then the rope fell off into the water. There came a 20' boat right as us. We were able get our hands on the gunnel and push it back to the dock. The owner was very grateful. Being a smart*** I asked if finders keepers applied.
  6. Newbs are out in force. A few weekends ago as i was walking to my boat after parking I heard"sweety help me!". Looked to see a women in a truck with a nearly jackknifed trailer Behind her. I got her to pull up straight and then got into the water pretty straight. Then she asked for more help as this was the first trip out in there brand new pontoon. Her husband was about as good at driving a boat as she was at backing a trailer. He made close to six attemps to trailer but was using way to much steering input and would hit the trailer crooked every time. Finally he was fairly straight but the little outboard wouldn't push it on. So I just took my shoes and socks and waded out and hooked the strap on and winched it on for him. Then got to watch his wife do a sick burnout up the ramp.
  7. If it swims I want to land it. I often put out my catfish jugs and then go bass fish while they soak. I also won't hesitate to pick up a light rod and croppie jig to wear out a school of whites or croppie. I have gone chasing stripes busting shad on the surface in the middle of a tournament.
  8. What about building some outriggers to make it easy to stand up?
  9. Look for 598's on amazon. They discontinued the 598 & 798 for the 698. 598's are under $600.
  10. Do light and slow movements. Water has a delay to it but also carries a lot of momentum.
  11. i don't have much time on north alabama lakes to judge them. in the central part lake martin is bad. i have seen the lake white capping from boat wake. the clear water on the south end makes it a pleasure boat destination. lots of house boats,20'-50' cabin cruisers, cigarettes boats, pontoons and wake boats.
  12. the theory is. with the pressure on the eye. the line in the right location, and the quick jerk. you create a temporary cavity the clears the barb. supposed to not hurt too bad and not rip flesh out.
  13. i know have two cards and cant do both at the same time. what i am trying to get info on is which is more useful and what other people use most of the time.
  14. i have a 598 si. it has only one slot. i have watched videos about using humveiwer and google earth on you pc. seems amazing. i also would love to have a maps chip like lake master or navionics. so what would you do? record or have detailed maps? i know the bottom contour of my regular lakes fairly well. i figured saving and viewing mould be helpful for finding unique little features to fish. like wise i see a map chip as big advantage for new water. anyone flip back and forth?
  15. i laugh at people that say they aren't for hunting then show them these all with my custom 6.8. in one season. hard to see buttons at 275 yards lever actions were the "assault rifle" of the civil war, now they are iconic "hunting rifles". bolt actions were ground breaking military guns in WWI now the most used hunting rifle on there. post WWII we saw technology spill over and semi autos gain sporting ground. modern sporting rifles are simply a continuation of history.
  16. GO GET A COMPRESSION TEST!!! before you do anything,
  17. a lake fish can be anywhere, fished for by anyone and seen tons of lures. i still was able to locate and outsmart to catch it. a pond fish is confined and fishing pressure is limited. no real comparison to me.
  18. bluewater leds. green on deck, white in the hatches.
  19. i bit the bullet and did it. it works. puts off a good bit more smell the virgin plastic. i made about a 6 craws out of about 10 trick worms any more and i would carry the microwave out side.
  20. i got a kit with a few of these for christmas. i have only used the supplied plastisol to this point. can i melt down commercial worms and use them in these molds? http://www.jannsnetcraft.com/soft-plastic-lure-molds/440221.aspx#
  21. the 798 can has eithernet capability. which means you can link to another screen or external gps. it has 2 card slots vs. 1. if you dont need those you can get a 598 online for a good price. its like the 698 but with better screen. http://www.fishfinders.info/review-of-humminbird-698ci-hd-si i just got a 598si off amazon for $570.
  22. when i got my outboard home for the first time a changed it and freaked when it was milky. put fresh in to be sure. in a few trips i drained it an it was like new. after changing it several time over the 2 yars ive owned it i have not seen any signs of moisture. bottom end oil is cheap so no reason not to change it frequently.
