  1. i palm any baitcaster so i would stil be moving my hands after the cast if i had a lefthand retrieve.
  2. i used mothers powerball and polish to revive a toolbox that came on my truck worked great. for a hull i would go to harbor freight and get a large orbital buffer and use mothers on it. if you went cleaner, polish then wax it might be easier next time around.
  3. a little respect for other would be a start. my top 10 boats that have come the closest on plane are all bass boats. down here we have a infestation of pro imitators who think if they are in a hurry all the time act like a @$$#$%! and people will think they are good fisherman. they will come blasting right by you then kill it and run up to front deck drop the t.m. and start casting while the boats still going 10mph fish a few minutes and blast out of slew off to their next spot with no regard for anyone else in the area. slow down and have some common courtesy
  4. i have a 2002 pf 175 i converted to a bass layout. i think it is a little smaller beam than a true bass model. my 50 yammy 2-stroke gets me up to 34mph solo 33 2-up and around 31 3-up(all full gear and tank). with just me it will plain up insanely quick. when i did my conversotion i took it down to a bare hull. g3s are built like tanks. i believe the model your looking at has a all metal transom. owning this one has made me very yamaha/g3 loyal.
  5. so saturday i went out on the alabama river. while out we were checked by the game warden. in the chit-chat he said others where doing good throwing cranks on points, near creeks. as said in the title all the points are a soft mud bottom with no structure in murky water. since there is nothing to bang the bait into. what would be a good strategy gringing it against the bottom? burn it ? use a silent bait to sneak up on them and get a reaction bite?or just shut-up and fish?
  6. 5 reasons i buy a bait. its proven to me. i can get it for cheap. a friend recomended it. get a variety to fine tune a patern. learning something new.
  7. i use plano boxes and leave them in their bags. very handy. when fishing a certain plastic just grab it and throw it on the deck no need to go to the box every time your worm gets torn.
  8. M.L.F. really brought out those guys skills to me. no way i will ever be even remotely that good. i do think a few more years practice and the cutting edge gear i could scratch out a living in one of the the lower levels. gerald swindle if of the belief some guys get help from guides. who knows with that kind of help i might do better then i think.
  9. i went out on a river i have fish only a few times. found a awesome spot. it was a dirty creek meeting the cleaner main channel.the 2 colors and all the debris flushes in by recent rains were really swirling around on their way downstream. coming off the river into the creek its 40ft it rises to 15ft at the mouth for 15yds then drops back to 25ft for 40yds then varies between 7 and 15ft for aleast the 1/2 mile i cruised up it. there were large schools of bait cassually schooling on th surface out on the main channel. there were random bait popping frequently inthe current. i marked quite a few classic fish arches on the f.f. 2 hrs later we didnt get a bite. we moved on to try other spots. how long do you on average give a spot on new water? how long do you give a spot you feel is just perfect?
  10. last month i fished a lake that i had only a few hours a week before. the only fish i got were feeding on shad right below the dam while they were generating. on tourn day they were going to start generating 1hr before weigh-in. (which kinda made me think i could CMA easily if my other plans fell apart.) off to the web i went. fishing reports,maps,reports....... i gobbled them up and had all kinds of sure fire things to try...... or so i thought. i bounced all over the lake threw just everything in the boat once. at lunch i had a whoppin 14oz bass to show for it. headed for the dam. where i learned something important the bass dont start feeding instantly,it takes time. time i didnt have. i got in about 5 cast as the bass started feeding before my alarm on my phone let me know my time was up. at weight-in i talked to my buddies who won. they just beating the bank with a lure i really like and use often. all that to get to this. if i had fished like "me" with "my" lures i very well could have been in the money. instead i fished like some strangers off the net with bunch of lures im not that confident in, in places i had little confidence in. grab your favorite rods. tie on you favorite bait. find the stuff you like to fish them around on google maps and a topo map. go have fun. thats what fishing is supposed to be.
  11. i have never used the the alberto knot, because i dont think i cant tie it good everytime. i use the uni-to-uni like shown in the little books that come in a spool of power pro. %100 faith in it. i use long leaders, notice a little tick sometime as the knot goes out but no catching or screwing up. if you use a leader shorter than 2' you can leave it outside the tip. just a theory from the reading ive done on here you can fine tune your presentation. need a fast drop a very long, small dia., flouro leader would be a good choice. want slow that puppy down use a short, large dia. mono.
  12. i like to fish the finnesse worms weightless. working in a twitch-pause action. those 2/0 will be great for that.
  13. just remember you cant catch whats not there.
  14. most ponds dont get any pressure to speak of. where as most lake bass have seen every lure at one point in their lives.
  15. ive heard before that fish come in 2 body shapes and it tells the fishes habits short fat fish are lazy ambushers and longer skinny fish are cruising schoolers. it would stand to reason that your creek fish fall in the first group. my $.02 bigger fish would not feel secure in that skinny of water and move down stream.
  16. the only fish i have caught on it have been visibly feeding below a dam while they wre generating. if you fish in situations like this then might be woth it. if your just fishing normal banks with cover it will be the same as setting the money on fire.
  17. in that situation i would try to drop them in head first avoiding a side impact. there are several toothy saltwater species that are release by being thrown head first like a spear.
  18. does this lake have gar? they love to group up and pop the surface.i also have noticed that the bite is not good around them.
  19. i used contact cement on my boat when i recarpeted it in january. on other forum a guy did a water exposure test by gluing 2'' carpet squares to wood then submersing it in a bucket for a few days. contact cement held strong while carpet glue lost all hold. glue did re-adhere once dry though. i glued carpet to the wrong side of one peice. it was stuck so good i had to use a grinder to get it off. 4months in im completely happy.
  20. i dont see your wants/needs and your budget matching up to well. if your area is like mine 2k will get you a decent open alu. hull, tiller outboard and trailer. saving up some more coin would make your hunt alot easier
  21. there is a number of people who want the best of whatever.equally there are plenty of people who are not scared of being in debt. i dont understand spending that much but hey.............life,liberty and pursuit of happiness! i wouldnt have it any other way.
  22. something i like to use when just having fun is marabou jigs. they are not just for panfish. i have also caught largemouth, spots, catfish, stipers and hybrids. i tie a 1/16oz on the line with a Palomar knot leaving a 16-24'' tag end.then i tie a 1/8oz on the end of the tag line. i just cast them out and twitch them back like a jerkbait. the twitching usually sets the hook for you. they are very cheap so a lot of hangups wont break the bank.
  23. i back my drag off and use my hand to on the spool to pull when i need to pull hard. if there is no cover i will even chase with a trolling motor.
  24. fish with more experienced fishermen.
  25. of course they can. hook one Saturday, got the gills. one side had a 2'' ribbon of blood that was dripping off his tail. i thought he was going to die put him the live he went on his side. one hour later he was swimming around and fine. by weigh in you couldn't tell which one was him. it just water dilutes blood making it look like a lot more is coming out. saw a simple cut on a kayaker....looked like he was bleeding to death.
