  1. i did mine diy. used galvanized metal conduit L's, a little scrap metal and schedule 40 1 1/2/ pvc pipe. just drilled holes through the conduit on either side of my trailer rail and used bolts and scrap metal to clamp to my trailer.
  2. growing up our do it all boat was a 18ft wellcraft center console. had plenty a room for 5 for a play day on the water. pulled a tube like it wasnt there. it also fished well.
  3. i would stick to what has been working from the bank and just expand it to all the new water you have. dont be discouraged bybeing skunked. it happens to the best. save the offshore game for later. when you do decide to tackle it,dont forget a few marker buoys http://www.basspro.com/Tournament-Buoy/product/1595/ not sure if was covered in your safety course or not but the trim plays a big part in how your boat runs and handles. start with your trim low to get on plain then as you get up trim out. when you get to high with the trim it will porpoise or bounce up and down. trim down a little till it stops and you have found your sweet spot.
  4. pros carried a-rigs to far. had guys throwing double a-rigs in flw, just crazy. i feel the main reason for a-rig bans is image. hard to air a big bass being boated with 4 hooks in her head and side but none in his mouth and the pros just yanking them out.
  5. warranty on pro qualifier is one year. had a older one mess up and they wouldn't do squat. the mettle are good reels for the money and academy has been flawless for replacements. last week the lure on one of my ethos rod caught on my boat cover as i pulled it of. snapped 4'' or so off. walked into academy, handed it to a employ and went and got my new one of the shelf for trade, no questions asked.
  6. may take a few guesses to get the right one. it is a really a custom fit,to the vehicle deal. i run drop 6" on my dodge 2500 4x4,my dad runs flat on his 2x4 dodge 3500 and my brother in law runs up 8" on his kayak trailer behind a mazda 3 hatch back. single axle you don't notice much. ran to high a hitch with our dual axle utility trail awhile and ate the rear tires up. never really thought about the how the ball is mounted, but a locking pin is a good idea.
  7. my brother in law and i will be fishing guntersville monday though wednesday next week. we will be camping in g-ville state park. from our reading frogs around grass seem to be the ticket. anyone have advice, pointers or gps coordinates to share? we both would really like to catch a smallmouth. looking forward to checking one off the bucket list regardless.
  8. yep. two vehicles that can haul our yaks. we will normally float as far as 9 miles in a trip.we did 15 once by accident and we dead by the end. we like to pick routes with fun shoals and rapids as well. have some adventure besides just fishing. here is some footage of our float down the coosa river saturday.
  9. if have buddy so you can do floats trips and not have to paddle upstream in it, fishing in current is a lot of fun. in current i usually pick a bank, get side ways, and start casting to targets as they come. matching the time a certain lure takes with current speed.
  10. dont foget to run your motor till the treated gas can get into the whole system.
  11. i haven't done it. been to busy to do little projects like that.
  12. searchtempestdotcom is a craigslist search engine. lets you set price and range to see whats in the area. don't forget deep cycle battery and trolling motor.
  13. carolina skiffs are hard to sink too
  14. i get water on me in my kayak as well. there are little rubber rings that help the water drip off before coming down. they dont seem to do much. i have toyed with the idea of coating mine in neverwet. http://www.lowes.com/pd_509272-90-274232_0__?productId=50037074&Ntt=neverwet&pl=1&currentURL=%3FNtt%3Dneverwet&facetInfo=
  15. bold blue gill.
  16. i had a f-150 strip the threads and launch a plug out of the head. (aluminum head vs. steel plugs, plug wins) a mechanic friend of mine installed a helicoil type devise. he drilled the hole out, put a special fitting in, it was spiked on the outside and threaded for a plug on the inside. then he drove a special punch in it, it drove the spikes into the block. put a plug in,truck never missed a beat.
  17. go to tinboats.net. whole site just for that.
  18. put up a link. all i find is shirts and stickers.
  19. i fished zoom horny toads and the big ribbits back to back in a pond after i ran out of zooms. the toads have a quicker hyper frantic action to them. the ribbits were of a chug chug chug action.
  20. looks like a money pit to me. aside from the info in rhinos solid post. the trailer would likely to far gone. see how close the frame is the ground it either has no wheels on it so the hubs are in the dirt, tires out rotted and its has sunk in the ground likely hubs in the dirt or the leaf springs have collapsed. or any combo of those. if the motor runs without major issue might remove it and all components and put and a good, big jonboat hull.
  21. i tow my jon & 9.9 down. up causes extra leverage/stress on the transom. 50hp yamaha = transom saver.
  22. not doing any shoals/rapids i would go with the 12. the only advantage i see in 10 is better maneuverability is shoals and small water. my b.i.l. has a fs128t and a d10t. he got the 10fter after getting tired of the lack of maneuverability on some of the small creeks we run. on the coosa and tallapoosa river the bigger boat shines.
