  1. anyone try zoom speed craws for trailers? i think next time im out im going to give it a shot..
  2. i used to fish a pier near my house every weekend, i snagged a brand new cotton cordel lure, with 10 feet of line on it, my hook caught the line tie split ring, one in a million i thought, later that day i called my dad and told him i snagged a lure that was new he told me he lost his new black and chrome cotton cordel 2 days ago at that pier, i am still wondering what were the odds...
  3. bass pro quilifier! have several of them had them for over a year now and handle the abuse very well
  4. 40 lb power pro all the way, moss green, i use the shimano compre medium heavy crank rod and love it
  5. i use my swimbait rod, and it works great, i have an okuma big bait guide select 7'6" heavy fast swimbait rod, its about 130 bucks, well worth the money and you can use it as a swimbait rod also so its not isolated to one thing, id recommend it all day and its backed by a lifetime warranty, goes well with a curado 300e or 301e
  6. www.japantackle.com theyre expensive but have quality stuff including handles and knobs and what not to fit the reels you mentioned check them out pretty unique
  7. the 7' mh shimano compre crank rod is a d**n nice rod for the money just a suggestion
  8. i havent been throwing jigs like id like as i dont really have a rod that i really enjoy throwing them with, i do plan to throw bigger jigs and mess with lighter punching this summer, and i will be using this as a top water rod when im not throwing jigs, i am buying a 735 as it will handle my lighter baits as far as my heavier baits. these dobyns will be used for a long time as these are killer rods at this price point, im not a tournament angler, im lucky to get out once a week, many times just 2 times a month so anything more pricy would make me feel guilty as im not made of money haha. now the question is, what do you guys recommend, micro guides or standard guides. i cant feel these rods before i buy, and i have never felt a rod with micros let alone use them.... thanks for everyones input! its appreciated
  9. mainly 3/8, 1/2, and 3/4 oz but mainly 3/8 and 1/2 oz not including trailers, never weighed them but they are paca chunks and rage tails
  10. Hey thanks guys 735 it is! Now should I do a micro or standard
  11. im in the market for a dedicated jig rod, i like the savvy line, simply because i can afford it, and they are nice balanced and light rods and feels natural in my hand, i have a 704 savvy heavy/fast that i bought for jigs and plastics, but now im on the water more and realize id like to have a dedicated jig set up, im sick of switching from plastics to jigs on the same rod when different scenerios come up, the 704 seemed too heavy for my plastics but a little lighter for jigs, but im now getting used to it as i fish alot of plastics on this rod, i was looking into the 705 or the 735 for a jig rod. what do you guys think, i cant just go out and hold them, so im flying blind into how id like the mag heavy blank, or should i use the 704 as jig rod and buy a 703 for plastics? seems the mag heavys are better for jigs but again what do i know, thanks for the time!
  12. i like shimano, had an old convergence crank rod used it til the reel fell off...literally, d**n reel seat broke off before the blank broke, glued it and kept going. there are many great rods out there and i cant really go and hold them so im flying blind on selection.
  13. ive been using my medium fast and a medium heavy fast pflueger president casting rods for my cranks, definitely not the ideal set up as those were my first rods i bought while getting into the sport again, ive ventured away and own some dobyns savvy now which are night and day, now too bad for me they dont offer a crank line in the savvy, i cant afford the champions and champion extremes so thats a no go, i got some bass pro gift cards, i got 150 bucks and would like to pick up a couple jerk/rip baits while im at it so i dont have a balance left, i dont want to pay much more then 110 to 120 bucks for one. 2 rods stuck out to me, wright and mcgill rick clunn 7' medium heavy which ive been eye balling since the release, and the shimano compre 7' medium heavy mod fast, i dont care about color, i just want a nice rod thats strong and sensitive enough, its basically down to those 2 and would like to hear feedback on them, but im always open to other options, but has to be available through bass pro thanks guys hoping you guys can help
  14. i have an old convergence rod for light cranks it has served its life well, it was actually handed down to me from an avid fisherman, man it has miles and years on it, im actually looking at replacing it with the new compre line of rods when bps get them instock again, got gift cards burning holes in my pocket over here haha the blank outlived the the reel seat and cork, i fished it with no cork left on it and reel turning sideways and what not, quite interesting to say the least, strong rods
  15. i really enjoy my bps johnny morris carbon blacks or bps pro qualifiers, even more then my curado 300E and was less then half the price.
