If you pick your days and spots St Albans bay has a lot of options I use the kayak from the pier in the bay, the boat launch, and ether side of kilkare.
It is great fishing all year and you can find a spot in most wind.
I use this for my kayak and it works great. You might not need the GPS so you could save money and or get more res. or a color screen. Also the battery last for ever.

We like the dry ride of our Si's we still have 2' of ice right now.
And the weight works better for the kids and my girlfriend. You will enjoy and learn so much from the first few times. I thought i needed to upgrade right away but have put the money into gear and equipment witch has worked better for me.
