  1. thx for the tips. do u mind telling me a few good specific locations on the lake? i'm looking at a topograph map and a bird's eye view via google maps, and i really can't figure this lake out. I'm not familiar with such shallow waters (i usually fish lake stevens or lake washington, where most fish hold in water around 10 ft). Cause if i can't catch much this friday, i don't think i'll ever take the effort and gas money to go back in the future. What i got tied on are a flippin jig, a medium diving crankbait, a frog, and a texas-rigged worm. Thinking about plunking the flippin jig into the pads, searching the pad edges with the crankbait, throwing the frog deep into the pads, and using the worm for general searching. so yea, can you please tell me some SPECIFIC locations i can hit once i get on the lake? it'll help a bunch. (PM me if ur nervous about sharing the honey holes) thx
  2. Fishin there soon.... only been there once... wondering where the honey holes are there. thx!
  3. dude, don't waste your money on a "high end" BPS reel. for the money, you can get a really nice Daiwa or Shimano.
  4. wow, nice job. did you fish it over treefalls and other heavy underwater cover? what color did you use. i tend to use natural color buzzbaits (about 90% of the time), and i've heard that for buzzbaits, you should follow a color scheme different from what you would choose for, say, a crankbait. natural for murky and bright for clear.... but maybe it's a local thing???
  5. He's easily the biggest ********* i've ever seen in the sport of fishing. He doesn't even know how to fish... next time, see how he grips a spinning rod
  6. glenn, you live in WA right? it'll be a while till smallies here start spawning i went out on Lake Stevens and Lake Washington this weekend... didn't even get a darn bite. water's still in the mid 40's
  7. Unfriendly Incidents: #1- Canoers/Kayakers: Was out in the middle of a huge natural lake with the bass boat, but this time trolling for some deep water salmon. Was in the process of finding a good spot with the fishfinder when we make a very slight wake near a kayaker who happened to pass by. He yells out "HEY! NO WAKES!" (we're in the middle of a lake. no wakes? you got to be kidding me man). My dad yells "WELL crap YOU!" I yell "WE'RE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE F*CKIN LAKE SEARCHING FOR SALMON. GO PADDLE TO SHORE YOU B****". we were mad because the same day, we've already had around 10 kayakers/canoers telling us to stop making wakes (we were going around 5mph). what did they want us to do? take out the d*mn trolling motor? #2 - Skiers: Everybody has had those moments with roudy water-skiers and skiboats (most of the time involving slightly drunk frat boys). My fishing buddies always joke about shooting flare guns at the skiboats that make one too many trips near their boats. At times, i wish for a real gun. But i must admit, sometimes the extra wakes and waves get fish to bite... no joke especially with weightless senkos, the extra underwater comotion gives the senko that extra little wiggle that gets smallies to strike #3 - Dock owners: Was pitching jigs near this one promising boat dock when the owner came out with his dog and started throwing tennis balls like 10 ft away from our boat so his dog could fetch. but i knew that he wasn't REALLY out there for that... #4 - Racists: First of all, i'm asian. anyways, i was at this boat launch area when i was putting some of the trout i intended to feast on that day into an icebucket from the boat's livewell. i hear this caucasian gentleman behind me whispering to his son "go check how many fish that asian over there has" (legal limit 5, i had 3. i was fishing in a part of WA state that's known for having a disproportionate amount of KKK members). his little 5 yr old son comes up right next to me and looks into the icebucket. at that moment, i was furious that THAT ACTUALLY JUST HAPPENED. i turn around and stare right into the man's eyes. he turns around and walks away... #5- Perch: Whenever i'm searching for bass with finesse softplastics, these guys always steal the show!
  8. anybody know the water temp. nowadays in western washington lakes? I'm gonna be hitting the water for the first time this year next week either in Lake Stevens or Lake Washington, but i'm afraid it is way too d**n cold for me to catch anything besides trout..... i want my dose of bronze!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! can you tell this cold weather has driven me completely insane? If this continues, the bass are gonna spawn real late this year in western WA......... gonna have to store my carolina rig lizard until May...........
  9. When fishing for smallies, how often do you guys use spinning rigs compared to baitcast rigs? When i go smallie fishin, i opt for lures at max 1/4 ounce, and i find it real hard to throw a 1/4 oz lure with a baitcast outfit. It just bothers me how much more often i use my spinning rigs than my baitcast rig (which happens to be twice as expensive ).
  10. The accurist is a great reel. I have the 7.0:1 burner version, and i've tested it out on the lake a few times, and it's been treating me well. not sure yet about its durability, but seeing how it's a quantum (i've been using quantums for a while) it should be of high quality. Biased (shimano) opinions will now appear after me... :
  11. .... and want
  12. OK, i'm going to end this conversation. If you're going to get the best deal, you must shop smart at both stores, and then decide upon what to get. Also consider visiting ***.com . Many members of this forum frequently visit this online tackle store, and for good reasons. There is always free shipping on orders over 50$, and their selection on top-notch equipment is impressive. They frequently have unbeatable sales, and their prices are guaranteed lowest pricest (if they aren't, you can call them to complain and haggle the price.... it's true). If you visit these three sites/stores (and other stores that hold a good reputation), and purchase items during the spring time when most stores have awesomely huge sales, you're bound to get a heck of a deal on everything you need. END
  13. Just looking for an additive to protect my reels. About a week ago, i posted a thread about car wax on reels, but then i found out car wax has a ton of abrasive microparticles that scratch (better word - buff) the paint of anything you apply it on, making the finish of the reel look more lusterous. But i didn't like the idea of the "microscopic scratches" part of the whole deal, so it's a no go anyways (enough with that rant), I've been looking through past threads and people are saying KVD is water based and Real Magic is petrol based. Seeing how petrol (basically oil) is not miscible with water, shouldn't RM last longer on reel surfaces then KVD which is water based (meaning the main solvent used is water.... and seeing how water in water becomes..... water.... wouldn't it wash off really quickly????). I totally agree now that KVD is better with line conditioning, but i'm beginning to have second thoughts about its effectiveness on reels and rods surfaces. thank you, and your opinions will be much appreciated ;D
  14. A house without a pet (when I say pet, I mean dogs, cats don't qualify) is a depressing place. basically, cats suck
  15. lil question: how long do you suppose a decent baitcaster will last with regular maintenance? is there a certain point where things get too worn down or need spare parts?
