  1. The Pro Qualifier is a great reel. However, i bought a one at this years spring classic sale, and did the reel trade in program. First time i used it was in my first tournament of the year. After the 5th or 6th cast, the bearings went out of it. Making awful noises, hard to reel or cast. I mailed it back in, and now they are overnighting me a new one so i can have it by this saturdays tournament. All that being said, i think that in any reel you can get a lemon every now and then. Just like vehicles, women, etc..... Bottom line, the PQ is a great value.
  2. As somebody else said, i think Reaction Innovations coined the term "Beaver" when it comes to these baits. Now given RI's risque names and labels, and the fact that the Beavers come in Sweet and Kinky style, take another look at the bait and see if anything comes to mind. Now in terms of what the fish is computing it as, my guess would be as a craw/hellgramite hybrid.
  3. So it was waiting for me when i got home. Awesome feel, look, finish, everything. Wont really know alot till i get it on the water, but first impression was very positive. Very lightweight, great balance with a bass pro PQ on it. PM sent.
  4. I'll let you know later tonight. Ordered the exact casting rod, supposed to be delivered today. All the reviews on TW were great, i talked to the guys at 13, very good customer service with fast responses. I also got a 10% off coupon, so at 90 bucks, I am excited to try it out this spring.
  5. Anybody have experience using 12lb Yozuri Hybrid on a baitcaster like the PQ?
  6. So today im going to Dicks Sporting Goods to take a lot at the Abu Garcia Veritas casting and St. Croix Mojo Bass spinning rods. From What i've heard, the Veritas action runs a little heavy. Here is what im thinking so far, chime in with any advice, one way or the other. Putting the Bass Pro Qualifier on a 6'6 MH Veritas, spooling up with YO-Zuri Hybrid 12 lb. Putting the 6935 President on a 6'6 MH Veritas or Mojo Bass Spooled with a 10 or 20 lb braid, and use the yozuri hybrid as a leader. What do ye think?
  7. Appreciate all the help so far, thanks alot.
  8. Great Information, appreciate it. So i've been looking at both the Abu Veritas and St. Croix Mojo Bass, 6'6 mh, i think they both have a fast tip. That should do the trick. Is there an easy way of explaining soft versus fast tips? Both the Citica and PQ are in a medium retrieve, so that should complicate things less. maybe.
  9. My budget would be around 100 on the casting rod, and around 75 on the spinning rod. Thanks for the input so far, keep it coming.
  10. Ok Guys, here it goes. Just looking for some guidance/recommendations. I am fishing in my first tournament season this year, and hope to build a "catch all" arsenal on a budget with 4 rod and reels, using two baitcasters and two spinning reels. We fish mostly small waters, so casting a mile isnt necessary. Here is what i have so far. Casting 1) Shimano Citica 200e on a 6'6 MH Berkley Lightning Rod Shock, using 30 lb suffix 832. 2). Bass Pro Qualifier 6:4:1, no rod as of yet. Spinning 1) Pflueger Trion, 30 size, on a 6'6 medium action Lightning Rod, using 10lb mono. 2)Plueger President 35 size, no rod as of yet. So... any recommendations on what to pair up the two loner reels with, in terms of rods and line? I fish soft plastics,(worms, beavers, creatures on wacky,t-rig,jika rigs), -topwater, (frogs, spooks, sammies, torpedos) jigs( football, swim, 1/4-1/2 oz) -Cranks and Spinnerbaits occasionally. Just looking to be able to do this on a budget and with 4 combos, and I am willing to put the time in with each to feel confident with each setup. Any Help would be greatly appreciated!
  11. Hey guys, make sure you ask whoever is working the counter about the actual price. The Lady and the Dept. manager fella did an override for me to try and get all the things moved out for the new line of stuff. Most of the items were marked with a sticker at 5.00 or 4.50, they told me a dollar on all of the ones with those stickers. They told me they wanted last years stuff out fast, and i told them that the bass i fish for dont care how old the baits were. haha!
  12. Yea, i normally dont find very good deals, but was glad I did this time. They had a whole box of Rapala floaters, shad raps, DT, etc... for a dollar a piece. I was going to grab them all and resale on ebay, but i think i'll spread the wealth and let some other people get good deals as well.
  13. Hey guys, you might want to check your local walmart fishing section this week. When i went in they had three boxes full of stuff on the counter, i asked, the lady said a dollar a piece. She also said on the wall in the next aisle, all the clearance was last years stuff. Also, everything a dollar. Here is the breakdown of what i got. 2 bags paca chunk trailers 2 bags zoom super flukes 1 bag Kinami flash 2 bags Zoom finesse worms 2 bags Yamamoto Senkos 2 Rapala Husky Jerks 1 Rapala Shad Rap 1 Rapala Orig. floater 1 Strike King Premier Spinnerbait 1 Strike King Elite Bleeding Buzzbait All for 15 bucks. A dollar a piece. All the plastics were in the good colors, (green pumpkin, watermelon reds, etc...) I looked up the prices on the same items at Bass Pro, total came to 80.47. These are all great baits, and ones that i use often. The deals are out there. Few and Far between.
  14. Thanks for the replies. I dont see how the newer model has changed much from the last model (6700), so maybe i'll pick that one up. Guy wants 35 for it, i figure thats a fairly good deal.
  15. Hello all, trying to figure out what size new president spin reel i want to get. It will be going on a 6'6 m spinning rod. ITs between the 30 or the 35 size. I have an older trion 30 size on the same rod and really like the way it feels and balances. I also want to try and use braid on the new president i get. I should mention that i already bought in a 6935 reel, and put it on the rod and im not sure i like the way it balances. But i have a chance to pick up a 6730 president on the cheap. The 6935 is supposedly braid ready with the rubber strips on the spool. Any thoughts or comments? Thanks in advance.
