  2. Hey guys, I just joined two weeks ago and had asked for tips on how to pra ctice with my new baitcaster reals I bought. I HAVE NEVER USED ON UNTIL LAST WEEKEND. Last weekend I spent 1 1/2 hours getting birds nest out. After YA'LL told me how to set the brake and the tension, use the correct practice weight: I just practiced for an hour, resilts, 1 SMALL BIRDS NEST; GOT OUT WITH THE THUMB TRICK I SAW ON HERE. FIRST FEW CAST WERE 5 YARDS, BY THE END OF THE HOUR.....WAIT FOR IT............25 YARDS CONSTANTLY EVERY CAST AND.......NO FLIPPIN BIRDS NEST. THANK YOU GUYS SO MUCH........IT IS FUN CASTING THAT THING NOW JIM ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
  3. Hey guys, I am fishing again after a life changing injury. Before the injury I was a weekend warrior fisherman, not giving it alot of thought. Once it was taken from me, I missed it. Now that I am learning to fish with the injury i am ready to do it right. I have heard that Bass clubs are the way to go. There is a worker at Gander mountain that said he would take me out with a bunch of his buddies at the end of April, I am looking forward to this. I believe I would like to have more opportunities to fish so I am hoping that a Bass club will help. I am trying to find a Bass club near me, how do I do this. I live just over the mountain (Massanutten Ski Resort) from Charlottesville Va. I am a looking for a Bass club. ANy thoughts? Jim

  7. yeah, I showed it to my son after I watched it and we were like "WOW" we could've used that trick the other day
  8. Hoepfully before the season is out, hahaha. I want to use them this year ;D
  9. Thank you so much. Will it make a significant difference in helping me cast correctly, I hope so?
  10. I do believe I am doing it backwards. I set by brake to 9 or 10 then adjusted by spool control knob, so I should do it the other way? Jim
  11. kinda like the inside and outside of the elbow? Lets say that the creek has a large channel in it and the creek runs in the shape of an elbow, and the depths are 4 feet on the inside of the elbow, then drops off to 20 feet for a few yards, then climbs back to 4 feet at the outside of the elbow; do you fish both the inside and outside of the channel where the water changes or just the inside? Jim
  12. How slow should the lure drop? I have the break set at either 9 or 10 and i have the spool control snug and the 1/4 oz drops very very slowly. I guess my question is how fast should a 3/4 oz weight drop if the break and spool controll are set correctly. I am going to be switching from the 1/4 oz to the 3/4 oz weight as most have said start at the upper end of the rod rating. WHat do Ya'll think Jim
  13. What are they talking about when they say "Bass find some type of cover, i.e. tree limb, trash build up, tree stump on the inside curve or the twist of a creek bed to set up their home " What is the inside curve? Dont be telling me a curve ball to a left handed batter either, hahhaha Jim
  14. The lure weight is 1/4 to 3/4, line weight is 10 15 lb. Im not sure what the guy at Gander mountain spooled on it, it looks like 12lb Any thoughts
  15. It was a "crankbait" skeet rease rod that is all i know. How do I tell what it is rated for?
  16. Hey guysa, I just bought a boat load of gear including three baitcasting reals; Abu Garcia Revo SX HS and some Skeet Rease rods. I am wanting to practice, yesterday i had a 1/4 oz weight tied to it. The guy at Gander Mountain showed me to set the breaks so when i push the button that the weight just slowly drops down, I did this. It seemed either i pushed to hard with my thumb and the line just looped back at me, or i didnt push hard enough and "bam" next hour getting tangles out. He said that if I get backlash just pull it through the real and dont grab it. Well it seemed that there was always a loop under the line about half way through the spool. Is that just backlash or does it mean the real isnt spooled tied enough? Also, how long does it take to get the hang of this thing. Any Advise is appreciated. Jim
  17. I just purchased three Abu Garcia Revo HX HS bait caster, my first ever bait casters. So I practiced "a bit" yesterday in my yard for about 2 hours; 20 min casting, 1hr 40 min detangling line. Please tell me it gets better and the ratio will switch. HAHAH. I know its a learning experience but man oh man. Jim
  18. Hello guys, I am returning to fishing after a major injury destroyed nerves in my right arm. I have not fished in years but am ready to get back at it and need advise on what I need as far as rod and real setups. I want to purchase rod and real rigs, so i can throw just about every lure out there, what do I need? Someone suggested: 1- worm rod 2-cranking rod 3- Spinner rod 4- flipping rod 5- split shot rod what would ya'll suggest? Luckily I am able to get quality equipment so I am asking for advise on what to buy, and if there are any other rods iI need. I just bought a lot of lures from my local supplier (not mentioning names) but I haven't set them in the tackle box yet. I bought a Plano 3500 series box. I have read something about lure wraps, are the good tp use? Any help is appreciated from a guy who never thought he would be able to fish again. Jim
  19. So i dont need five different rigs?

I have heard I need a worm rig, a flipping rig, a cranking rig, a spinning rig, are there any other rigs that are wise to have? What type of real should go on the rigs? Any sugestions are greatly appreciated. Jim
