  1. All these knots will slip on spinnerbaits and buzzers. Get some shrink tube, cut a smal donut and shrink around the r bend. Garnet
  2. Check the manufacture of your vechiles they are all rated for max towing. Those 389 were light boats proably 3000lbs. The closer you get to this number the harder to tow. Garnet
  3. By keeping the loop on your reel as long as possible when the loop comes off it will be very small and easliy untangled, if the loop comes off early you will have 3 pieces of line twisting into a gaint mess, just cut and start over. Garnet
  4. I have had mine for 7-8 years and still use consitently. Super for getting better with fishfinder and how fish relate to struture. Also very good for species of fish. Lots of lakes I fish have all different species of fish so drop the camera down and you know. Garnet
  5. You should have the line pinned to the rod when the bait hits the water. I crank the reel to take the line off it's pinned position or manualy close bail. Don't crank handle when drag is slipping. Play the fish as much as possibly with rod length and wrist movement. You will still get the odd loop. Do not wait for the next cast (unless you are hookedup). Do not pull line off straight up the blank. Pull the line off as close to right angle as possible keeping that loop on the spool as long as possible. Garnet
  6. What kind of trolling motor? What kind of boat? What kind of pumps? Most likely to much $ to have somebody do it. Garnet
  7. I've seen termolclines on every fishfinder I've owned but I deal with a lot of Lake Trout lakes. Current will stop the stratfication and hard wind driven currents. It's not likely a 37 ft lake will devlope thermolclines, springs might kept the bottom layer colder. Again smallies are different than largies. Start at the level of thermolcline and work shallow. Smallies will be in open water waiting for Rainbows,Lake Trout and salmon to push bait up. So if theres no predtors and baitfish below the thermolcline skip this. Garnet
  8. I had the 389 Jav. in 1993 great ride, quick and I believe better in big water than my 20ft. today. Garnet
  9. If the cables are available. The new MinnKotas are so much better and relatively cheap I would not spend to many $. Garnet
  10. Broken cable look at the foot pedal for the cables. OMC trolling motors haven't been made for years. Garnet
  11. You didn't mention the lb test of your braid. For me 40 and up is baitcaster and 30 down spinning. Garnet
  12. My tourney partner was having troulbe with his gps/finder shutting down when the out board was cranked. He left the electronics on the threaded post and moved the motor cables to the round treminals and this cured his problem. I worked in a battery plant but never dealt with deep cyle batteries. It looks like the threaded post is closer to the strap that goes across the battery and the round post is in series so your electronics would still get full power when cranking. About $5 for a set of terminals so I'd try it. Garnet
  13. I would like to fish with Al Linder and buddies on one of those 2week day light to dark jumping from lake to lake fishing for everything. And KVD or Arron Martins practicing for something important that they need to include me in the thinking proccess. Garnet
  14. The young guys show how ordinary there skills are because they only have one thing to think about, fishing 24/7. They don't have houses, wives, investments, jobs,TV shows, employees, grass to cut and dozen other things to take your focus away from fishing. So I admire the guys that keep all lifes balls in the air and still catch fish when it counts. Garnet
  15. I like the Hersey Kiss with the flat bottom. Fluke calls them teardrop. If they land on there side I can feel them stand up, and then they don't role or drag every easy giving a little more feel. Garnet
  16. I see no reason to close a thread because anybody thinks that a better bait is available or that it has been disscussed before. That means about 100 senko copy's can't be talked about battery ? wquld be out, jigs and jon boats. Were the Banjo minnow failed was being available in kit and not available in bulk. Banjo minnow was the first high end swim bait that I seen and there a 100's available now that are 3x the price of banjo. Garnet
  17. You need to separte spinnerbaits for largies and smallies. Smallies is a need for speed and largies bump and bang and trash around. Garnet
  18. Make sure the plates are covered and theres a little slot inside the cap don't fill past the slot. Garnet
  19. Somebody's robbing you, it's a seal kit and should be lots less than $400. Garnet
  20. It's just a fact with schooling Smallies and yes tubes are the worst thats why I try to get a dropshot bite going. Leaving a hook and bait in a fish is just criminal, with care and a pair of offset sidecutters you can cut hooks very close. This is the best approach. Garnet
  21. You can run 2 tranducers from 1 unit with a switch from Lowrance it's a pain when you move to the front but cheaper than 2 units. Garnet
  22. It surprise me that in England the match anglers don't were sunglasses. This should be a market for somebody. Even in the most stained water and overcast conditions if you wear your glasses, your eyes will detect movement there fore giving away location. Garnet
  23. This week I can fish Tues.,Wed,Fri and Sun. and thats what I think of solunar tables. Garnet
  24. Tandums are a pain to push around the yard. And I'd never go back to single axle. Tandum with good trailer brakes life is sweet. Garnet
  25. The boat I had that ran best with no torgue fin, got a nice hack saw job and replaced the plate nice and smooth. Don't be afraid to try it one run will hurt nothing. Garnet
