  4. Tend to throw mostly black/blue. Not sure it works around where I am at. Usually see more of a green pumpkin or watermelon with orange tipped claws. No luck when I try to match the hatch.
  5. I lost my fishing partner this in Dec of 2021. He was my father in law and we fun fished and tournament fished together. Our last tourney we won. I will always have that memory. This spring I will be trying to fun fish and tournament fish with my wife. She loves fishing and loved fishing with her dad, but has never tournament fished. Looking forward to this new way of life!
  6. This lake still producing good smallmouth? I am trying to plan a trip soon to do some smallmouth fishing and this one was always fun, but haven't been down for 5-7 years now. Milford is good, but too hit or miss for me. Thanks
  7. I can send pics. Mechanical 7.5/10 Cosmetic 6.5/10 looking to unload. Great reel little reel. Has been cleaned recently, but I think there was too much grease in drive shaft bearing. Spool bearings are good. Handle is missing plastic nut cover and they are not available from Daiwa anymore. Cheap AliExpress CF handle would look good. $40TYD
  8. possibly old stock. Not old for you, but sat on the shelf or in the warehouse for too long... Over-stretched. once fluoro stretches to a certain point, the next hook set or snag could cause a break.
  9. Irod Fiber 744, 754, or 764. My first choice would be the 754. The Genesis 2 series is a bit lighter with better components, but built on the same blank.
  10. IROD 704 Genesis 2
  11. Irod 754 Magic Stick in either Air or Genesis Irod Genesis 2 713 Power Finesse I would look at a 4 power rod with a moderate fast to fast tip for the casting rod and a 3 power or M/MH spinning rod. Some might recommend a 2 power for the spinning rod. That might be fine, just consider the type of cover you typically fish around.
  12. Irod Genesis 2 Bub's Punch Rod is one bad ass stick. I don't own the Irod Air Bub's Sig Flip Rod, but it's on my list of must haves. You are already a Dobyn's guy and they make a bunch of solid rods capable of handling punching duties.
  13. You can catch bass on both. There will be more options in MH/H power in casting rods. Many brands make MH spinning rods and you can get spinning reels in 6.0+ gear ratios now. Use what you comfortable with. I have a Irod 713 spinning rod (Fred's Power Finesse) paired with a Daiwa Tatula 3000 https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/iROD_Genesis_II_Series_Spinning_Rods/descpage-IRGST.html Not my first choice for heavy cover, but I'm not afraid to throw 3/8oz and lighter t-rigs on it. I especially like it for throwing tubes. You want something you feel comfortable with so you can build confidence in it. I do recommend going with baitcasting setups because you will learn to become more accurate and be able to fish the heaviest cover.
