After that 3 to maybe 5 feet it's not like muddy it's just murky. A lot clearer than what I'm used to fishing. The lakes here in Norfolk and most of the ponds in Fred are pretty murky, like 1-2 ft of visibility if you're lucky.
We're fishing down river after the fredericksburg city docks, down town. Right down the street from the railroad tracks.
There are a lot of sea walls, some downed trees and about 10' of water almost every where. The water has about 3ft of visibility. Further down there are some big rocks. I haven't fished much further than that.
The only colors I use are white, chart, and black. Though my best buzz bait had a gold blade was purple, dark pink, and black, with a green and black chart head. Pops gave it to me and I can't find it any where. Bummer because it was the best buzz I ever had.
As for sizes, 1/4 and 3/8.
I've been using a uni knot to tie the two together but the other night, they kept snapping. I've been tying that knot all summer and it wasn't holding for some reason. I was doing it outside, at night, and the weather had dropped down to the 50s, could that have done anything?
He's new to Bass fishing but he likes the challenge of trying to do it like Squid and I do. He's not too keen of the idea of using live bait when he knows we'd rather use artificial.
I've picked out a couple bass here and there on the Rapp, and have a decent idea on what to use, I was just seeing if anyone else has some input.
Melted and molded, cooled then fished.
The plastic worm is a bait that can never be dissed.
Its colors, and shape, and size never end.
The longer in the water, the more fish for you friend.
There's your poetry Francho.
I hear all the time, head to the points, so I have a couple questions.
1. Why? Why the point specifically?
2. How do you approach it? I usually fish across it about 10-15 yards out. I also have fished 10-15 out and fished directly in front of the point outwards towards the middle of the lake, and also have tried fishing from the bank to the boat. What is the best way to fish it? If there is a best way.
3. How do you eliminate which points to fish? Do you stop at every turn and give it a couple casts or?
4. What baits do you use to approach said points? I've used cranks, spinners, and have also dragged plastics and jigs.
I'm not saying I haven't had any luck on points I'm just looking to get some intel. on how to fish them more productively.
I'll be fishing the Rapp. this weekend. We'll be putting in at the city docks, downtown Fred.
I was wondering if anyone has fished here, and if they have often, what baits have been most productive. I caught a few using rage tail craws, lizards on a c-rig, and brush hogs.
My buddy is back for leave from the airforce and I'm trying to get him to pull as many fish as possible out of the water. If anyone could help. I would appreciate it.
Take care all.
No promises on the Shenandoah, it sounds like it'd be a great time. I'll have to check with my buddies and see what they want to do.
I'll have to look for this Go Getter, I'll look on tackle warehouse
Nitro are you hitting Anna this weekend? I'll be in town, a buddy of mine is back from bootcamp so we'll be hitting the rapp along with squid, even though there's a cold front.
Finally caught a fish. Not too big, 1.5lb. Missed a couple others. Missed a fat girl on the top water frog. Talked to some guys that fish the tournaments around here, they said it's been tough lately. So I guess it's not just me.
I caught my fish on a black and blue fleck rage craw, my roommate had 2 get off of a june bug senko.
Nice blue bird day, and was out in the early evening so I wasn't expecting too much.
