  1. Tell me about it rip. Ive been cussing the wind for weeks. I still fish it everyday just because the bass are full of eggs. Its getting old though, everyday the wind is blowing 15-30. Today's forecast: Hazardous weather condition(s): Wind Advisory This Afternoon: Mostly sunny, with a high near 83. Breezy, with a south wind around 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Tonight: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 65. South wind between 5 and 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.
  2. 2 Seagulls and a few Mallards. One Mallard this year broke off after a short fight in the air. He took my brand new $25 swim bait, which he is still sporting around 2 months later.
  3. Thanks for the response. I will give it a shot. Now the hard decision. Curado CU50E or Pflueger Patriarch64? :-/
  4. I see there are some very good deals on "new" reels from businesses on eBay. What has your experiences been with buying reels sold as a new item on Ebay? I am just a little weary that they might be refurbished. When I buy a reel I want to make sure its brand new. Im just trying to decide if a 25% off discount is worth the risk.
  5. Buy some 50lb Power Pro braid and show that bass how to water ski back to you. ;D
  6. Document 1000 bass caught this year(currently at 124) Beat 7.1b personal best(currently 5.0 best this year) Win Lotto(construct my own ultimate 100 acre lake for Hawgs) Achieve 1 of the above( )
  7. Interesting post Bill I fish four 6-7 acre lakes that are all connected together by an underwater pipe. So its really around 25 acres. This time of year I fish the last daylight hour of everyday. I will do the same in the late spring and summer but also night fish the buzz bait. In the evening I catch 1-3lb fish like crazy. 10 fish in an hour is a really good evening with 3-4 per hour being the average during the evening. Catching a bass between 5-7lbs here is quite an accomplishment. It only seems to happen about once in about every 200 fish I catch. I cherish my sleep and get up only when I have to for the work week and like to sleep in on the weekends. However the small amount of times I have fished the early mornings I tend to catch bigger bass. I don't know if it is just luck but I have been have been very suspicious of what Bill has said above. One of the first times I fished the early morning I caught a 6 1/2lb bass within about 5 casts. I plan on trying to fish the morning more this year to see if this trend continues. Part of my problem is my lake is overpopulated but I cant do anything about it due to strict catch and release rules. 11InchBeard I would suggest calling over everyone you know that owns a fishing pole and hold a cash crappie tournament. Try the best you can to kill that crappie population. Also, start taking out some of the smaller bass. If money is available I would stock bluegill and shad once the crappie is controlled. Also get small boat, trolling motor, and a depth finder. Find some structure with your depth finder and start fishing it. If its just a muddy flat bottom outside the cat tails without any structure then make you own. After Christmas time most Home Depots will thank you for taking there left over Christmas trees. Tie some cinder blocks to them and throw about 5 down per spot. You can also make your own brush piles with the same method. Making rock piles with cinder blocks is also a cheap option. They are only about 2 bucks a piece. The big bass are going to get first pick of there hangout spot. Make them a nice home and pay them a visit.
  8. I just stocked up on 5" Senkos from Academy. All 5" & 7" Senkos and Swim Senkos are on sale for $4.99. I don't know if its nation wide or not but my local store in Houston has that price.
  9. I'm not a member but when I googled the club this topic came up. You can try emailing this guy. He hasn't been online in a long time but its worth a shot. http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?action=viewprofile;username=5F6B656D7E7E6D786D62630C0 http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1231769304
  10. Do some research on pondboss.com. Anything you want to know about ponds is already there. They are experts over there when it comes to pond management. They are more than willing to help you out too. I spent an entire work week last year trying to soak in information from there. ;D
  11. I just got my U2 sinking male bluegill in and guys this thing is awesome looking. The website pictures do not do this lure justice. I guess the light from the camera takes away from the color and detail of this lure. It almost looks like something out of a taxidermy. I will be giving this lure a fair trial amount of fishing time starting this evening.
  12. I have always been a believer of keeping confident that I'm going to catch fish. A positive attitude and confidence just seems to pay off for me. I don't really understand it but I surely do believe in it. I preach this to my old man because he tends to have a negative fishing outlook when things don't get jumping from the start. Especially when we fish Kona, HI for Blue Marlin without getting bit the first day. He thinks I'm crazy but I'm 97% sure I'm not. What do you guys think? Do you believe confidence at whatever kind of fishing you are doing is really that important?
  13. Get you one of these motors for the back Brian. He says in the comments he only has it quarter throttle. ;D
  14. I always night fish in the summer with black buzz baits. I mainly used Strike Kings Bleeding Buzz Bait but I will buy me some Cavitrons after reading this. I catch a lot of Catfish while bass fishing at night. It really ticks me off. I can't really see much and all I hear is a huge splash. My heart gets pumpin on the strike and then I get disappointed once I find out its another cat. I usually catch them in the 5-10lb range and they do fight. I got to where if I get a huge strike at night I will tell myself "probably another catfish" just to ease the disappointment. They also like them some black jitterbugs at night.
  15. I just ordered me the sinking U2 Male Bluegill. I can't wait to chunk it on the beds and see what happens.
