  1. After diver duck hunting out of it in January on Lake Ontario and hemlock with 45mph north winds I think I've been in some of the worst conditions a kayaker would want. Oh and on Kentucky lake when a tornado came threw last year that was fun.
  2. Ill go where ever I need for some big fish
  3. It's based out of Many, LA, with HQ at Cypress Bend Park. I believe we can launch anywhere on the lake with public access on either side Texas or Louisiana.
  4. Thanks Catt. I know it's a little ways away, kayak bass fishing is having the 100 challenge there in November for the top 100 challenge series finishers. It looks like I will be making the cut for the event as I'm in 35th of the 100 plus they are taking top finisher from each state and I'm number 1 there by a land slide for NY. Its a 22hr drive for me with a 1 in 100 chance at coming home with $10,000 so I'm looking at old reports for that time frame now and at navionics trying to plan.
  5. That area is loaded with pike. Frogs in the Lilly pads and slop will get ya some smaller pike then spinners and chatterbait or swimbait around all the laydowns.
  6. Google map search Lyndonville, New York. You will see a creek that runs right threw town. School is on the north side of the creek and a big parking lot on the other side of the creek that's the post office there's a boat launch there canoe and kayaks only. Follow the creek back and there's pike everywhere.
  7. Starting to look like I will be making a trip to Toledo bend the week of the 3rd-5th of November. What can I expect while there, any technique that shines that time of the year.
  8. Keitech is having a sale on most baits in certain colors. 50% off. Directly from www.keitechusa.com
  9. Seen in another post your from western New York. Try fishing oak orchard or johnsons creek tons of northerns in there. Looks like your in a canoe I can give ya a launch site on johnsons that will get you in for some all day pike action
  10. I'm also in WNY a lot of the weeds in the quarry's and reservoirs out in orleans county have died off significantly. Small mouth in the canal are gorging themselves on minnows ive been walking along the Erie Canal with a 2.8 keithech fat impact on a jig head crushing them like every 3rd or fourth cast. In johnsons creek and oak orchard pike also extremely active almost to the point of I'm gonna stop fishing the creeks because it's ALL I'm catching. Hulberton quarry's all the weeds have died off waters cooled from low 80s to the mid 60s in the morning and only reaching low 70s by mid day before cooling again.
  11. John were both having smallie withdrawal lets go fish the river.
  12. To many to pick just one but I could watch a hand full over and over and never get tired of it. Heat, tombstone, topgun, enemy at the gates, the lonesome dove series of that counts as a movie, 13 hours, the mechanic, white fang.
  13. Yeah I've lost a bunch of tungsten nail weights so far. I hook into the plastic some also. I just watched like every you tube video out there on the rig seems like there's a few different thoughts on hook point direction also. I've been rigging mine like Ike does in his video starting the point coming down from the top so the shank is next to the bait but then the line is in the way of the tail. Most the other videos say go the other way.
  14. I've been trying the neko rig a bit lately trying to get some pressured fish. I've been using mag trick worms and the regular sized ones. O ring and a wacky style hook both the weedless and the regular open style. Im losing tons of baits though the o ring is tight on the plastic but it is almost like they are bitting the weighted portion and my hooksets are just pulling the hook and o ring off as I usually bring the o ring up on the hook but the worm is gone. What could I be doing wrong. I've tried just lifting and reeling keeping pressure, straight up hook sets and sweeping to the side I can't seem to stick one. I've got one so far and he smacked it as soon as it hit the water so that doesn't help really.
  15. It will flex for sure. I wouldn't go a 1/4 think I was just using it as a reference. Personally I wouldn't use straight glass mat. I'd use a woven material like woven fiberglass, graphite, Kevlar, carbon fiber.
  16. Your basically building a boat at that point. 3 gallons of resin won't get you very far your going to want 60/40 resin to mat ratio in a perfect world. 1.5 oz of plain mat takes 5-7 layers depending on who is doing the lay up and rolling to achieve 1/4" of thickness in a hand lay up. little over a quart of resin to achieve 1sq foot and should weigh near a lb. that's just mat and resin in perfect lay up. Add your wood and everything else and many square feet. Not saying it cant be done but I would look into it a bit more. If you do decide to do it I would like to see progress pics.
  17. In making a fiberglass kayak? I've been a fiberglass fabricator for 5 years now climbed my way to the top of two companies in manufacturing doing it. Might want to add a few zeros to that price of materials if your gonna build a kayak from scratch. There's a reason why the Kevlar/glass/carbon fiber canoes cost as much as they do the stuff is not cheap.
  18. The model number is the cranking one just under live bait. I've got the blank and grip narrowed down at least for the build. I love the alps textouch that's on the rod I recieved from Gary in the warrior project build. That rod he built for me is by far my favorite.
  19. Think I found the one I'm gonna order the judge JDGCB70MH-CG seems everywhere has it listed as a live bait blank though.
  20. Thanks! I don't do any serious deep cranking in fact a barely crank at all but I need to start.

  22. Thats what kept me from getting it this last season. I'm in an ATAK 140 and do a lot of river fishing but the river I fish I have no need for a FF all it's good for is watertemp when 90% of the trip is 3' or less of water. Fushing more ore and more KBF events on bigger waters I want to upgrade than side imaging I've been looking at the lowrance 7ti.
  23. I'm wanting to upgrade again this year to a new unit with side scan. I just got the dragonfly 4 pro and as much as I like it I want a bigger screen and side scan on my kayak.
  24. Last year I saw a bat in the water struggling to get back in the air and it was getting hit like crazy by smaller bass it was just a matter of time before a bigger one came up and actually ate it. I'll probably add a few to my arsenal since I know a pike or musky will probably rob me of a couple.
  25. Agreed, I've got two gen 2s a S and SX , 2 gen 3s both STX and a gen 1 S. The 1 and 2s are still running strong even the SX that was seized solid over the winter rusted bearings was able to get freed and still casts and performs flawlessly it's just a little noisy. My two higher model gen 3s have been giving me fits not engaging after depressing the thumb bar. Easy fix from my understanding but still not as solid as my earlier models. I'm excited to try some of the gen 4s
