  1. people are against it mostly when its done in large quantities on a consistent basis. In such a case it can really hurt the bass population, mostly speaking on smaller bodies of water (small reservoirs, ponds etc) Secondly, especially this time of year (spawn) I see no justification for someone trying to keep a big female bass 5+ lber for a simple meal) If you go to a stream, river etc up north the same views can be said about trout fishing. While those up there hate the bass they will look down on anyone keeping trout. (vise versa in many other places, especially where there are trout being stocked and not wild) Moderation is key. Hope this helps, I know it was a bit of a rant.
  2. Drop shotting could work in all waters. Keeps the bait in the strike zone longer but can excel in clear water. Had to resort to DSing today on 2 lb test to get bit water clarity was about 30-40 ft down.
  3. Mike you are a boss! Keep that show going its a blast to watch. And great survey
  4. awesome fish. I am equally captivated by that last picture of the sunrise. Awesome.
  5. thanks for all the great comments Hopefully my next post will be fun with swim baits!
  6. September was frog heaven at my local lake. Water level has been pretty low allowing weed mats to fill nearly the entire shoreline with only a small window of a few weeks to toss a frog around before the level gets brought back up by the end of Oct. in preparation for trout stockings. With that said, prepared the frog battalion and went to work! frogging is definitely my favorite way to fish and a real nice change of pace on an extremely high pressured lake. Weapons of choice were r2s bullys 45-65 sizes. These are the pics that came out best out of the dozen or so, wish I had more pics but what can you do Hope you all enjoy!
  7. Rename it Chunks pond? or Hog Haven? Great looking fish. Past few weeks I've been tossing the frog so Hopefully you can land some 5+ like I have on it. They are a blast w/ that technique.
  8. yeah at first I thought it was a bass obviously, then thought it was a turtle and felt bad. Then saw it was a giant frog and was just mad. Hope that is the last one.
  9. pliers. yeah I tried my best not to touch it...it smelled. Popped the hook out and it went crazy hopping all over. Was hoping it would jump out of the boat but when it failed I had to grab it and toss it in. Yuck, not a catch I want to experience again...Next time maybe a bass will eat my frog. Tired of all the inaccurate blowups In other news, the bass in my avatar was from today prior to that. Still waiting to catch a monster but it was a great fighter for its size. Very healthy looking
  10. PB and a probable lake record! The hunt for a real frog fish continues.
  11. haha, frogging is hard enough at that lake so it wasn't cool catching that thinking I had a big bass. At least now I know there is the possibility of some frogs at that lake, though even the rangers and concession guy were surprised when I showed them the picture haha You are right, I was pretty grossed out trying to take the hook out then it decided to hop around the boat before I picked it up by a leg and threw it overboard.
  12. Went frogging today and also chased some shad boils. Biggest bust/surprise happened while frogging. First ever catch turned out to be a.....frog....giant frog I was expecting a beastly bass while tugging it through the weeds. Hooked into a few bass but only 1 other blowup besides this while frogging. At least I was matching the hatch with my frog color
  13. just wait til you have one in the middle of the night. Happened about 1.5 years ago here in socal...that was unsettling
  14. +1
  15. Says you are in socal? Bass are very pressured throughout the area but you will have good luck with sunfish this time of year. Small size 18 or 20 hook with a piece of worm, shrimp or mealworm on it. Under a bobber works or you can sight fish it fly-lined. While I was out this morning saw my fair share of bluegill throughout the weeds and a few biggies swimming right off the weed line. Hope this helps.
