  1. I make a trip to TRL every year in early April with some buddies and this year we moved to a new place (new to us) called Lazy Lee's Resort. Close to Coney Island and not far from Kimberling City. Great place and great owners!
  2. The weather for us a year ago was brutal. Colder than it's ever been for us on our annual trip to TRL. In fact, we had snow flurries on the water one day, came in just before noon and never went back out! We're heading down tomorrow morning, staying until Sunday. Weather reports appear to be way better for this week!!
  3. Here are a couple sources for reports that might help, the most recent report for each: Eric Prey (Focused Fishing) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T3ArtfMxzsQ Pete Wenners https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j6an-Jh2ckE Good luck!
  4. This I agree with, unfortunately I can only get there about once a year. My annual trip this year is April 7-12. Can't wait!
  5. Excellent feedback to both questions Wayne P., thank you! I will definitely get the XTM 9 DI 25 T, but will keep the transom mount transducer in the event we decide to move the unit to the console down the line. I searched for the XTM 9 DI 25 T and of course found it on the Humminbird site for $199... But also found it at Walmart for $98.41. Looks identical to the one on the HB site. Here's the link: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Humminbird-Trolling-Motor-Mount-Transducer-XTM-9-DI-25-T/20449484 At a $100 difference I just want to be sure it is, in fact, the same before I order it. (Yes, I'm paranoid ) Thanks again!!
  6. Hey all, Just received my Helix 5 DI - GPS unit. When I talked with the folks at Humminbird and told them I would be mounting the transducer on the trolling motor, the only thing they told me I would need was the Trolling Motor Transducer Adapter, #AD-XTM-9. Nothing was said about needing a different transducer. Am I going to be OK with using the transducer supplied with the unit and the adapter? Also, earlier in the post (the post title actually ) was asking about Lakemaster vs. Navionics. Since I would be fishing mainly MO lakes, including Table Rock, would the Lakemaster be a quality option for the price? Thanks!!
  7. Ditto what Quillback said, Ozark Anglers is the best I have found when it comes to information on Table Rock. In fact, a number of guides post on there and are very generous in helping out the rest of us. I only get there once a year, this year our trip is 5/16-5/20, we're staying at a place in Aunts Creek. Interesting take by Hooligan, I would have thought this unseasonably warm weather would have triggered the spawn much earlier this year, creating a lot more fish on a post-spawn pattern by mid-May. My preference leans toward split shotting a centipede or fish doctor (green pumpkin, watermelon green), swimming 5" single-tail grubs (green pumpkin, watermelon seed, smoke/black flake or clear/silver & black flake) and spinner baits. Have also had luck with dragging or hopping a shakey head jig with a 5" or 6" finesse worm.
  8. I think you can say that about many teams with a few players on their roster who have had an injury in the past. With Waino out last year and the other injuries we had, it still turned out OK.
  9. It also seems like many of the houses in Joplin were on slabs and didn't have a basement. When the sirens go off here in St. Louis we head to the basement. Of course, as others have noted, when an EF5 hits a densely populated area it's going to be catastrophic, but being in a basement has to help some. What occurred in Joplin, as well as in other areas of Missouri and other states previously, is truly heartbreaking. Prayers go out to all those affected.
  10. Definitely do your research, and especially on the surgeons in your area. This is one of the best articles I've found on what to look for in a surgeon: http://www.urmc.rochester.edu/eye-institute/lasik/about-us/what-to-look-for.cfm Also, everyone has financial limits, but this isn't the time to be looking for a bargain. Good luck! Tom
  11. I do two vacations: one is a fishing trip with some buddies to Table Rock Lake; the other is the family vacation to the Fort Walton Beach area of Florida. We usually go with some other families, and several of the guys do a deep-sea fishing outing one day. The rest of the time, it's ice cold beverages by the pool or beach all day, every day!
  12. Soda... or for some, sodee
  13. I would disagree with the use of the word "most". There are certain areas which are not nice, and in fact can be very bad, and they give the rest of the area a bad rap. However, I suppose you can say that about many medium- to large-size cities. Heck, probably about a lot of small cities, too. Just my opinion as a life-long resident of the city.
  14. I've never seen it at either Bass Pro or Cabela's, but haven't looked for quite some time. I bought mine online. Tom
  15. As of 7:00am this morning the lake was at 935.03 and they were releasing 68,000 cfs, both of which I believe are records. 937 is an 'emergency elevation status' and would cause them to have to use the spillway for the excess. Let's hope that doesn't happen. The corps has cancelled tournaments on Table Rock until at least May 1st. The water patrol is asking boaters to stay off the lake at least through this weekend due to the vast amounts of debris floating on the lake... and dangerously just under the surface. If you go this weekend, please be extra careful. Good luck! Tom
