  1. For you only, don't get this line, cause that doesn't sound good.
  2. For medium cranks....going to be close call. The winch is the best deep cranker I've ever used. I use mine on a 7'6" ft BPS cranking stick for <70 bucks, and its all the rod I can ask for. They stay pinned. Don't know about the crucial cranking rod. I usually use a faster reel on my shallow and medium depths, just because you can wear yourself out in this heat with a winch, and its lower gearing.
  3. I love this stuff. It casts so far, that you have to watch the overcast. Caught 13 bass this afternoon on a dropshot, with about an 8 ft splice to 8lb trilene 100%( mainline was 8lb nano). This stuff is so sensitive, it just transmits everything. I felt each fish grab the bait and start to swim. None of the fish hit the bait, it was very subtle, but you knew what was going on. Even when they were coming at me(slack) you still knew it. No stretch in this stuff, like a brick wall at the hookset. For bottom contact, and reaching out there on schooling fish, this is the stuff.
  4. I'm serious. Went out with my kid today, and caught 2 and what can I say....wow! Really excited about this rod. The carbonlite with a core 50, and 20lb Tatsu is just amazing. Worry about how it will hold up, but there's no doubt about the sensitivity of this rod. They are on to something with these microguides. I think the light rod weight, nice tip, and multiple contact points give it an edge over anything I've used(as far as feel and bite detection). Now, will it take my abuse? Thats a good question, but this is definately the best Rod in its price range.
  5. Guy at BPS was telling me that you get longer casts, and that they improve accuracy.. Whatever! Well, needless to say, I'm a believer. Got a carbonlite 7ft MH, and its amazing with those little guides. Innovation of the year IMO. Oh, and that rod just put my GLX in the back-up role. Crazy, maybe, but there it is.
  6. I just got a carbonlite and I hope it doesn't happen to me. I worry about the cheap price, cause you get what you pay for, but dang this rod felt good. Got home and compared it to my GLX's,IMX's, and Cumaras, and the Carbonlite is going to win-out if it performs past the true test. It really feels superior! Hope it lasts.
  7. How do you fish that thing?
  8. I have one, and it does get strikes, but with 2 trebles, it doesn't have a good hook-up ratio.
  9. This time of the year, I just wait for the fish to school, then I manage quite well.
  10. Robo has a hook with a plastic keeper thats works really good. It comes in different grades of wire. I flip with the heavy 4-0, but the light wire is great for drop shotting. The light wire hooks really get em,too, so have some plier ready. You lose a little action, but its really weedless, and your worm doesn't slide down, with the keeper. You will get tears with some bites, and you might have to pinch some off the front of the worm(after a bite), but you won't lose as many worms. I would love for Owner to come out with one with a 90 degree eye, and their center pin keeper, now that would be a great hook(that thing hardly ever rips baits.
  11. MY Rules to color selection. 1.Something that stands out(chartreuse or bubblegum, even wtrmln red glitter)- great in muddy water). 2. Something that they can sillouette(bass look up-its where their eyes are, and things that block out the sun, they can define their edges and dimensions, better). Its the reason I think they see dark lures better at night, or in murky water. Then, my favorite reason. 3."Invisibility". Match the environment, its what nature would do. Critters survive by blending in, and so should your bait. Put you bait over the boat and in about 6-8 inches of water. If you can't see it(depending on certain clarities, of course), then its all good. I know it sounds crazy, but don't worry about it, the bass will see it fine. The prey they are hunting is trying to blend, and are much better at it than you can be. Think about these three approaches, and you'll figure it out.
  12. Well, did it just look good?
  13. Stress levels are high, esp for a struggling/hooked/bleeding fish, right now. Some fish will be shallow, right now, but most are going to be deep, unless they are actively feeding(even that is rare in the daytime).
  14. I don't think this happens, but I do think they fish in places that are better managed/stocked, than I get to fish.
  15. Yeah, what caught your eye? New Lures, Tips? C'mon!
  16. Agree, but what does that mean? Impact breakage or steady pressure breakage, and why the difference?
  17. I see this now on lines, whats the distinction?
  18. Yeah, I'd be digging trying to find some. Sounds like that pond has too many small fish.
  19. If you want it to walk the dog better, cut one side a 1/4 inch shorter, this will give the longer side more drag, and give it nice side-to-side action.
  20. I like a moderate wind, but not from the east. Psychological, or not, an east wind just stinks.
  21. I have no clue, mostly concentrate on those 1-2 ft bass. My equipment probably couldn't handle them if they were any bigger.
  22. Your lake just needs a power plant.
  23. There have been a few times where I just got tired of catching them, and just had to quit.
  24. Couple questions; What type of spring lock are you using? How do you keep your nails that long?
  25. I find that Summer is the best crawfish bite, here. Deep football heads, and river bends are great with a craw immitation. Baits with craw action like speedcraws, may immitate fleeing blue gill; moreso, than craws IMO. Either way, they bite em all year long, if you can get under the ice.
