  1. Beyonce and the Dixie Chicks have taken social and political positions that don't represent those typical of country music fans.
  2. You should be proud of your team. They lost key players that should have ended their season long before the WS, yet they continued to win. They ran out of gas at the end, but their tenacity in game 7 showed their heart. They played like champions even though they, "ran out of time" as Francona put it. Well done.
  3. Congratulations Cubs. It was a great series and a memorable game 7. I am happy for you C&G. The pressure to perform when it is all on the line is what causes mistakes. It happens every year. What also happens is baseball at its finest, with the best teams, and the best players making world class plays. Conspiracy theories are quite popular though...
  4. I am sorry for your loss. My wife and I have 40+ years. She is the best thing that has ever happened to me, and I would be lost without her. I will keep you in my prayers.
  5. I have enjoyed this Series. I think it may be Chicago's year...heaven help us! With that said, I still will keep my gambling money in my pocket. I would not be at all surprised if the Indians win it. Should be fun to watch!
  6. I am sorry for your loss C&G.
  7. I don't know who wins this thing, but it sure is fun to watch. Great baseball!
  8. Not hardly. This is two really good teams. I never thought I'd be able to include the Cubs in that statement.
  9. Losing a loved one is tough. I would give a lot to go fishing with my pop or my brother again. Some of my mom's fried chicken and a piece of pie made with a crust made of lard would also make me happy. Life is short. Remember the good times, and make the best of today. That is the best we can do. I'm sorry for your loss.
  10. I think I will keep my money in my pocket instead of betting on the outcome of this Series! I am a National League fan and don't know the tribe well. I have seen many Cubs games and when they are on their game they are as good as it gets. That's hard for a Cardinal fan to admit...
  11. Can the Cubs do it finally? Will Cleveland have the champions of both baseball and basketball? Is this all a sign of the apocalypse?
  12. Letting him start with that finger was a dumb idea, but it seems everything they do works right now. We'll see if the cubbies can hold up their end....
  13. I agree Dwight. I think it would to be good for baseball. I really don't care who wins it this year, as long as it isn't the Dodgers.
  14. I'm watching. I don't have a dog in the hunt, so am just enjoying good baseball. I would not rule out the Blue Jays yet... In the national league I find myself in the unusual position of cheering for the Cubs. Living in the St Louis area this is heresy, but I can't help hoping they finally win one. I may regret this though. Even as losers they can be insufferable!
  15. I think we've answered the bars question. The answer for peeing off a boat is simple, but not cheap: Talons. The mounting brackets are perfect for standing on with the outboard to lean against. Works even for old guys!
  16. Nice fish! Carrying a scale not something most of us want to do. A 10 pounder is a lot easier to catch without one! Weighed or not, congrats on the PB.
  17. I don't advocate indiscriminate shooting of clowns, but I am not opposed to a good beating. FWIW, I would not use any ammo in a self-defense gun that was named in any way that might cause someone to believe I was looking to use it.
  18. I guess we could just make this thread a sticky! Happy Birthday RW.
  19. Like most of the other experienced guys I don't get many backlashes. Pitching a light bait or a spinnerbait in the wind will cause a little fluffing of the line, but not a big deal. I get careless occasionally and catch something on the back cast. That will test your backlash clearing skills! With a proper setup of your reel, and the line, rod and bait sized correctly, along with a couple years of experience will eliminate most of your issues. Be patient and enjoy the process.
  20. That is one of the reasons dealing with a local guy is a good idea. Having dealer with an FFL that you can trust is also a good thing if you ever need to have a gun from out of state transferred to you. Enjoy your new gun.
  21. I buy most of my guns from a local guy. He knows that I do my research and know availability and price of the gun at the big brick and mortar stores, and internet gun stores. He also knows I prefer to do business with him. Tell him you've been looking for a while. He knows very well what Cabela's is charging. You don't have to tell him. He probably will come down a bit, and give you a better price on ammo. You will likely spend far more on ammo over time than the cost of the gun.
  22. Abraham Lincoln is attributed with saying, "Most folks are as happy as they make up their minds to be." A new location won't change that. Good luck.
  23. I didn't comment earlier to see how this worked out. Based on the tone of the thread, I am guessing the in-laws were not anymore looking forward to living with you than you were to have them. I've been around long enough to know that family can be a real challenge. They are family nonetheless, and as such require us to do the best we can to help. Good luck.
  24. Yep. The bass (or dog) responds instinctively. Good answer Molay1292.
  25. I don't have any larger spinning reels. A little too heavy of line, and generally speaking, the extra noise is from me saying unpleasant things about the issues I'm having with it. I am not a fan of braid, but if I had to use heavy line on a spinning reel, it would be braid with a copolymer leader.
