  1. I've used them for years and never had a problem.
  2. It gives me no pleasure to do this :-[ I agree. I will still root for whoever plays them.
  3. I have an 8'6" spinning rod for salmon and surf casting, and 2-6' light rods that are mostly used for crappie and bluegill, that are 2 piece and I like them just fine. I've never had any trouble with them coming apart and if there is any loss of sensitivity it is not noticeable. On a related note, I was window shopping on on Tackle warehouse's site and noticed that the Diawa Steeze 8' flipping rod was 2 piece; 665$ retail.
  4. If the Pro Qualifier spinning combos are anything like the baitcast this is a fine choice. I use a President 1730 (Pflueger) reel and a 6'6" MF Bass pro Extreme rod. Not the lightest combo around, but a nice setup for the money IMHO. Good luck.
  5. 1300BC ;D 8-) Now that is funny. It may also be true.
  6. I'm curious also. I looked all over their web site and couldn't find find a clear answer. It seems they are designed here but where they are built is not mentioned. There is contact information on their site.
  7. I like this thread a lot. I think I agree with needemp: There are times when a very specific lure-with size, speed, action, depth, color, soft, hard, seasoned or not, and probably several other variables to define-is the one. My trouble is I can spend way too much looking for that one, instead of keying on the 3 or 4 techniques I know work for me. Then again sometimes I spend way too much time experimenting within the confines of proven techniques instead of looking for that one bait that may be outside of my favorites. :-? : So my philosophy today (it may be different next week) is to have a lot of what works for me and a little of everything else. I just wish I knew what, "a little" "a lot " and "everything else" meant exactly? :-/
  8. Fair enough. 8-) I'll let you know. The way the weather is it may be a little while, but that's a deal.
  9. Preacher they do have an image to maintain. :-?
  10. I'm a big fan of Trilene XL, and probably use it more than I should because of its manageable nature. Next season I am going to try some fluorocarbon and fluoro hybrids and give braid one more chance. Thanks for the review. I appreciate it.
  11. Paca chunks and craws are my current favorites.
  12. A friend gave me a couple of rolls. It was on clearance. I'm not familiar with this line. I went to their web site, and the line is still produced. So, I have 600 yrds of 10#. Do I put it on a baitcaster, use it for Carolina rig leaders, or give it as a Christmas gift? :
  13. A very generous offer.
  14. I agree with RW. BPS will go to the lowest bidder to have a product made, then slap their logo on it and sell it for more. I can't justify paying more for a product than its worth, only because of a logo. I would make that same argument regarding most brand names. To dismiss all bps products as inferior because they have their products made by other companies does not make sense to me. If the specified standard is met, and that standard meets the wants/needs of the consumer, the lowest bidder makes sense. That is the principle that drives the free market. The price versus value discussion is always interesting to me. There is sometimes a fine line between being "penny wise and dollar foolish" on one side and "I paid more so it has to be better" on the other. If I had the money I would be an enthusiastic collector of high end equipment and tackle. I do not, so I try very carefully to get the best bang for my buck, and I think Basspro allows me to do that in many cases.
  15. Frogtog you're way too young to be this cynical. Most of us take a few more years to see through that dark a glass. ;D
  16. Baldwin. It is about 25 minutes from my home. I used to fish it a lot, esp during the winter. I don't enjoy the cold much anymore and my health is unpredictable. The fishing can be fantastic though; cold, sleet, snow, rain, wind are not bad things on that lake.
  17. YES. Unequivocally, without a doubt it is abnormal, unless you're a fisherman. ;D For a fisherman not so much.
  18. I have an 18' aluminum boat with an 80lb MK Fortrex. Two weeks ago I camped and fished 2 1/2 days without charging my batteries. It was very windy and I stubbornly fished windy spots most of the weekend. I still had plenty of battery left when done. The digital units use far less power than the multi speed units. I have not had any experience with 36v systems. Good luck.
  19. Way to go Glenn. Rob thank you for the reply.
  20. The Kinami version will be 4' 8'' long and sell for 225$ ;D
  21. BPS matched a Cabelas price on a MK trolling motor a few months back even though the unit I wanted was out of stock at Cabelas. I called and explained that to the appropriate BPS dept. manager. He verified the price online, confirmed he had one (only one), and held it two days for me to pick up. I saved 125$ The St. Louis, Mo store is the one I am talking about. I have had great customer service there.
  22. I have 3 bps Extreme reels, 2 Pro Qualifier reels, 4 Extreme rods, 1 pro Qualifier rod, a couple of tackle bags, 12 rod socks, and about 10 pounds of bps plastics (mostly stick-os). I find much of their stuff to be a very good value. Just my .02
  23. All this talk of iced up rod guides and level winds on reels is depressing me. I've been there and done that, but as I get older I'm less inclined to fish in freezing conditions. The local power plant lake usually tempts into a trip or two into a trip or two before winter is done though. :
  24. +1 I don't do all that much traveling but it works fine everywhere I've been. 8-)
  25. x2.... agreed Me too. That would be great. I often find myself in those "dire situations" where I have to pick up the motor a bit to get out of trouble. A cable control is the only thing that will work in this spot and the reason I took an older wireless unit off my boat.
