  1. It always starts this way. First the big rotating spiral light, then the abductions, then the anal probing...I'm just glad it has started in Norway this time. Most of the time it is in one of the Southwestern states. Hasn't happened here in the Midwest for several years now.
  2. I wonder if they have changed since you last ordered? The site says they have a plastic insert.
  3. Traditional Crig is: 1. Sliding weight on main line 2. Bead/bead-clacker/two beads-one bead is standard 3. Swivel 4. Leader 5. Hook
  4. I'm sure if you watched Glenn do it, it would look as easy as it sounds. It just takes practice. I've worked hard this year to improve my pitching. I still struggle a bit with lighter presentations. Start with something in the 1/2 -3/4oz range till you get the hang of it would be my suggestion. Good luck.
  5. After reading your post I checked the prices because I knew the Lake Insight was not that much more on mine. It is $50 on the HDS-5. The other units have Insight USA which must be a more sophisticated program, based on the $200 price tag. I didn't notice any difference when fishing with the 7 on my friends boat. So, for $50 on the 5, I think it is a great deal. For the others I don't know.
  6. In addition to not having the free movement of a sliding weight, you don't have the noise of weight against bead/beads or clacker. I think that is a part of why a Crig works as well as it does.
  7. I looked around before buying this set at Wal-Mart.The packaging was different; but made by the same company. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_104363_225010006_225000000_225010000_225-10-6
  8. First I have seen from this writer. A well written and informative article. Thanks for the link.
  9. Im considering the 5 for my kayak this spring, yeah I know, on a kayak ;D. How is it to use regarding simplicity, Im all for reading the manual but I dont want to goto MIT to learn the thing. Once through the manual and you're good to go for most everything you need. Adjusting sensitivity, speed, zoom, bottom lock, split screens, way points, and map use are all fairly straight forward. With that said, it is a lot smarter than I am, so it has capabilities that I'm still figuring out. I am enjoying the learning process. It's another cool toy to play with. As far as using good electronics on a kayak, why not? I have an older aluminum boat that I have re-furbished. Some would say putting high end equipment on an inexpensive boat doesn't make sense. My answer to that is nonsense. I enjoy my boat and having good equipment makes me happy and improves my fishing. Isn't that what it's all about?
  10. Jack, I can't advise you between 7 and 8. The 7 is a great unit. It is the biggest I have seen. In my opinion the lake Insight is well worth the money. I have it on my HDS-5. Kirby
  11. LOL. good one bro. That was the first thing that came to mind when I saw this thread, Didn't Newman have room full of mail that he just couldn't get to? ;DAnd they thought they were writing comedy. :
  12. An excellent video Glenn.
  13. Paul I would add one to your list: High visibility above the water and low in the water.
  14. I have two of the reels and I really like them.
  15. Just when I decide to go with all Pro Qualifier reels, they come out with this. : Both rod and reel look like a nice deal. I will also be interested to see what the early reviews are.
  16. When you're frying up some fish, slice a couple of potatoes about a 1/4' thick-no need to peel. Dip them in the same mixture as you're using on the fish and add to hot oil. Peel an onion and do the same. It will make your tongue jump up and slap the roof of your mouth. Like the others have said, as far as oil is concerned, the big jug at Walmart is the way to go.
  17. Nice boat Gman 8-)
  18. What a mess. Even here in the Midwest where people see that kind of weather once in a while, those conditions would create havoc. Sure is pertty though.
  19. When Bantum1, the Shimano rep was asked that question about some of their reels, his response was the market wasn't big enough to justify the cost of manufacturing LH reels in all models. I would guess that is the case with Ardent as well. The selection of LH reels is getting better, but still limited for those of us who use the correct hand to reel with.
  20. I have one PQ, a 7' MXF that is is my light jig and plastic rod. It is a great rod for the money in my opinion. I use it more than any of my other baitcast setups. I have a PQ reel on it and it is just slightly tip heavy. It is a nice combo. 8-)
  21. I originally posted on the thread started by Bantum1, so I'll add this comment: Glenn you have nothing to apologize for in my opinion. You have been up front about the arrangement from the beginning. It's unfortunate, but that is business. Thank you for providing a great forum. I appreciate it.
  22. I also hate to see you go. It was an excellent service you provided. Thanks, and good luck.
  23. Thanks for the heads up. I have two and plan on adding a couple more. I might have to add a slower speed...
