  1. 12lbs. Looks like 8 of those pounds are tumors though. That is one seriously lumpy looking fish.
  2. Very true. Good point.
  3. Academy has the ETHOS rods for right at 60 dollars. IMO they preform every bit as good as the rods in the mid hundred dollar range do. I prefer them to my Powell Endurance rods. The sensitivity between the two seems to be about the same to me. Like others said. Read the articles. I was in the same boat you are, when I started bass fishing 6 years ago. I had to learn it all on my own. This site and these forums are what taught me how to bass fish. Soak up all the information you can from here.
  4. 7ft MH Abu Veritas. 7ft MH Abu Veritas. 6ft 6in M H20 Express Ethos. All baitcasters.
  5. Soft plastics go in gallon ziploc bags in the packaging sorted by type. I keep my cranks, lipless and lipped, in plano boxes organized by depth. Buzzbaits I keep in falcon buzzbait boxes. Organized by weight. Jigs are kept in plano boxes organized by style and weight. Hooks and terminal tackle are kept in plano boxes. All the trays are stored in a bps soft bag, a enormous Diawa duffle bag, or stacked on shelves in my closet. I generally sort through everything after I get home from fishing. I also keep lures and tackle for other types of fish organized the same way. There seems to be quite a bit fewer trays for them though.
  6. The .50cal was sold to one of my friends earlier this year. The .338 and my .308 are currently in a safe in my friends house down in Auburn. We are in the process of moving right now and I wanted them in a safe place until I can get my gun safe bolted to the floor of our apartment. When I go pick them up I will get you some pictures. The friend letting me store them at his house is the same one that bought the .50 from me. So it shouldn't be a problem.
  7. Most anything you would use from a boat. Bank fishing is just boat fishing in reverse. As for lures it depends on structure, cover, and what have you. Me I fish a lot of cranks, frogs, soft plastics (Texas and wacky rigged), and jigs from the bank. Ain't nothing wrong with fishing from the bank the 3 biggest bass I have caught were from the bank. 2 10lbers and 9lber.
  8. Well that makes sense. Thanks for the info.
  9. I've been paying 6 bucks a round for .338 Lapua Magnum. Least until we started reloading them. So cost per round isn't anywhere near that bad. Thanks for the advice.
  10. Just traded a old Matthews in for down payment on a rifle. They have two rifles I like. One is a Marlin 30-06 2008 model. The other is either a Browning or a Weatherby Vanguard 7mm Rem Mag. I'm completely on the fence as to which one I like the best. Both are scoped and are the same price at 340 dollars. I only intend to get one season out of the scope. It will get something better on it next spring. Brand really makes no difference to me on this purchase. I will probably rework most of the rifle after this season is over. I got rifles for long range shooting already so that's not that big of an issue. I just don't want to drag a 3000 dollar rifle plus 1000 dollar scope in a boat. Then trek to our new hunting grounds through the marsh to where we are setting up camp. I'm sure the rifle will be up for the challenge. I would just be on pins and needles the whole time. So it boils down to which of these calibers will be good for intermediate range deer (between 200 to say 400yards)? I honestly don't see myself popping a deer at 400 yards in the tangles of woods down here, but want to cover my bases. I also want to use it occasionally for hogs. So that's a factor too. Any input fellas?
  11. Well just shot the "All bow" thing to hell. I just traded a Matthews Conquest 2 for a Weatherby Vanguard 7mm. Looks like I'm gonna have to rifle hunt a few days this year. Drat.
  12. I'm just curious as to what the "sporting use" exception he received is for. I definitely understand lack of a practical application for it. Heavens knows I can't think of one.
  13. That's the best I can think of as far as hunting goes. Either that or shoot whales with it. Maybe lob shells at passing animals 10 miles away. Kind of like an artillery piece.
  14. My inlaws buy a lot of our groceries for us. They do the same for my sister in laws. That's on the hush hush though.
  15. Around 250 a month for my wife son and myself. That's not factoring in toiletries and cleaning stuff. Add another 30 for toiletries and cleaning supplies.
  16. This rifle weighs in between 80-120lbs. The rounds average 40 dollars a piece. Said round produces around 32000 ft lbs of energy. I have no clue what I would do with one, but I freaking want one.
  17. I can relate. I've just been through a patch of it myself. Just be patient **** will buff out. Besides seriously good stuff seems to happen at the end of it. Oh, and screw that *****! Tell her to tick up a rope!
  18. I was laying in my bed trying to fall asleep last night. I heard a loud thump out back. Figured it was someone depositing something in the dumpster at the top of the hill. Still kinda put me on edge though. I go back to my laying and the dang door knob to our room starts rattling. I flew up grabbed the Glock and racked it. I'm about to turn someone inside out. Didn't hear a sound from the hall or stairs. I bust through the door in a shooters crouch. Still no sound or movement. Creep down the stairs and survey the downstairs not a dang thing. Both doors are still dead bolted shut. Not a thing to be seen or heard. Son it took two more hours for me to fall asleep after that. Ain't hear a dang sound after that. Had the dog not perked at the rattle of the door knob, I wouldn't have given it another thought. Didn't help matters that I watched some creepy dang movie before I went to bed either.
  19. Either that or explode when I'm driving it.
  20. We've been through a lot. I helped him get up through the company we used to work for. I thought him the electrical knowledge he needed to distinguish himself from the other people we worked with. Boss sold the company, I went with another electrical contractor, he stayed on as maintenance man. We've stayed really close since all that happened. I think I am lucky to have a friend like him.
  21. My homie just took a new job making 6 figures a year. He and his wife are getting 2 new vehicles. So they are giving me his wrangler. Its a 94 with 120,000 miles. Extended axles, new tires, new shocks and springs, soft top and bikini top, 6in to 8in lift(I don't remember which) Thule overhead rack, Stainless front bumper(built and welded by me), diamond plate dashboard cover(built by him, welded by me, installed by him), six I terior 12VDC outlets. Entire vehicle was just inspected and any and everything was fixed that was wrong or going wrong 4 months ago. Original owner was a couple in their sixties that babied this jeep. It was garage kept. My buddy babied the hell out of it too. It has never been redlined to my knowledge. All this for the low cost of free!
  22. Beard itches? Dude, wash your filthy beard! :D
  23. I wish I had when I was younger. Oh well. I vote go for it. Me? I ain't shaving my beard for no one.
  24. Hostel was terrible. Seeing that was by far the biggest waste of money ever. It wasn't scary, suspensful, nothing. We went and saw it opening night. The reviews I had read before seeing it, said there was a chainsaw battle. There was A chainsaw. As in singular. I waited that whole movie for a battle. The ending was the only redeeming part. That was straight hardcore as all hell. It was the biggest let down, as far as movies go, ever. I had such high expectations for it.Even the gore was sub par. At least for what I expected it to be.
  25. I've been a fan of his since White Zombie. That man is a musical, film writing, and directing genius. Ain't seen Lords of Salem. I liked the other three though.
