  1. That can happen and will with every rod company, only some of them charge a replacement fee. Years ago I had 3 Loomis IMX rods in a row do this to me. They charged me $50 a piece, Abu charged you nothing. Dont see anything to complain about.
  2. I fished 1oz jigs the past 2 days with mine. I broke off about 20 jigs and I popped em pretty hard trying to free the jigs, the rods held up just fine. Rods do get damaged during shipping from time to time. I recall a rod company losing nearly and entire shipping container of rods from shipping. Talk about major bummer, stuff happens when shipping.
  3. The lakes in California fluctuate up to a couple hundred ft a year. The weeds are no big deal, bass love weeds. The fish will come back from the pillaging. No standing timber? Is it now laying down? Rocks and grass are huge in Clear Lake California, we also have tules(I think easterners call them reeds). You can also put in some wood or other cover.
  4. I used to use co-poly's alot. But have not used em in a few years now. I use braid on a few rods , Big Game on a few, and fluoro on most. I just dont have a need for it anymore. Fluorocarbon was not real good or affordable years ago, but that has changed. The 2 brands I used were YoZuri, the other Fluorclear by P Line. I really preferred the Pline. Only thing with that is I had to change it often, just didnt last long.
  5. Thats the one I was thinking of.
  6. The local fisheries biologists should be able to help ya out. THats how I do it. They are state or county employee's and usually eager to talk about it.
  7. I find the 703CB glass to be a great and versatile rod, but some like em longer. I believe there is a longer Powell CB glass rod on sale on the Powell site, and maybe at TW.
  8. Personally I use the S for flippin(punching) and pitchin. The STX and Premiers can be found on all my other rods.
  9. The smallest one I throw is 6in and right at 2oz. I cant think of any with a bigger profile and lighter.
  10. The key is to find out what the predominant species is in the body of water you are fishing. Also their seasonal coloring.
  11. Yeah baby, the Gman smoked em today.
  12. Got a funny feeling he wont be selling his new reels for a long time.
  13. That Powell does a great job at cranks and spinnerbaits Don't know about the Veritas, but I am more and more intrigued the more I hear about them. Ive been very impressed with them. The one I recommended Ive been flippin 3lb fish into the boat with it. Maybe not a good idea, but it has not been an issue. In a tournament those fish will be netted.
  14. I know both company owners Andre Moore(heard he sold) and Bub Tosh with Paycheck baits. Its the same body, with better paint and a different knocker I believe is the deal. I have so many Vixens that Ive yet to get the Repo Man.
