  1. That job looks like a giant pain in the ass.
  2. But the original trophy season on Erie was not set up with tournaments in mind, it just evolved into that.
  3. There was an old lady on one of our lakes that would see you coming down the stretch of docks and she would come out on her dock and start fishing. Once you went around hers and were a few docks away, she would go back in the cottage. She did that for years. No matter what kind of conversation you would try to spark up, she would not say a word.
  4. 5" mostly for me although I'll drop to 3" and 4" on occasion.
  5. No such thing as the best, only a very long list of great ones. Some of mine covering a few genres................ Criss Oliva Buckethead John Petrucci Chris Caffery Alex Skolnick Warren Haynes Ron Locurto Davy Knowles Pat Martino
  6. Oh, that was a serious question? lol
  7. And it is such a silly looking rig. And since that picture was taken I have gone to a shorter drop, a heavier weight and o-rings on the bait to I can really snap the weeds off when I need to.
  8. I would dare guess that well over 50% of my Senko fish the last few years have been on.............................. 3) Wacky on a dropshot Amazing how thick of weeds this rig can be thrown into as well, even with an open hook.
  9. I was just there Sunday volunteering to take cub scouts out fishing from 8:00 til noon. Fish were pretty aggressive on Senko's around weeds and I caught 50+ fish and the scouts with little fishing experience did OK too. Only a couple fish over two pounds though, most were 11-14 inches. Avon Anglers had their Father's Day tournament there as well, and it only took around 10-11 pounds to win, and low 7 pounds to cash. I was watching everyone around me hoisting fish all day as well. Larger fish will be the issue. Water temp was 72 degrees and the south end had a brown algae bloom thing going on, while the north end bloom was more green and to a lesser degree.
  10. Been doing that with perch for a couple years. Next time before cooking, drizzle a little maple syrup over it. You can thank me later.
  11. I'd be willing to bet many (certainly not all) of your bigger bass over the years have been caught within three days of a new or full moon. And with that said the highest activity levels during both those moons are within an hour or two of noon.
  12. Split ring only works well with a jig with a horizontal eye. Have you tried bending flexing it open with a pair of needlenose? Did it just break? I have tried bending heavy Mustad jig hooks to fit molds before and 9 times out of ten they just break.
  13. I also like the short 4" drop as opposed to the Jfranco long tag end method. The weight of the hook will allow the bait to drop straight down in the bed and make the illusion that it is feeding in there, and the weight will also cause a ruckus that will annoy the bass. I use no less than a 1/4 ounce though and sometimes 1/2 ounce. I don't want that weight moving as I dance the bait around.
  14. Ooops. Not in. lol
  15. In NY we would likely need a permit to take a crap on shore, as well as a full environmental impact report.
  16. I don't use braid on too many rigs, but I do use straight 50 pound braid on my chatterbait rod with a 7' MH/F rod. Be warned though, once you fish a chatterbait with braid you may not be able to feel any other baits vibrate ever again. lol
  17. My 7' MH/F's are mostly rigged with 17lb flouro (my brand is not important lol) and serve as my jig/T-rig/bladebait/lipless crank/spoon/bubba-shot/spinnerbait/spider grub/swim jig/hard swimbait rods. I do have one rigged up with 50 braid and that is my chatterbait rod.
  18. I used to have a '63 Evinrude 40hp motor on my first boat and the marina told me those old motors are highly inefficient spitting out nearly 40% of the fuel unburned through the exhaust. I used to have an oil slick around me if I idled in one spot for any length of time. I suspect newer ones are better though. lol
