  1. Had it several times. When I get it, I can curl a cement block, but unable to pick up anything of any weight palm down without severe pain. The last time I had it bad the "skipping" motion just about brought me to my knees, and there was a dock bite.
  2. I might take the cover off my boat this weekend for the first time in nearly four weeks. Then again, I might not. The luck part is whether or not the cat has dragged any dead critters up in there or not. lol
  3. Any chance during that conversation did he mention the word "Flashabou"? lol The papers would have to be dug out of someones collection of old relics.

  5. I think you would rip the lips off a small bass long before straightening hooks.
  6. Had this one run across the scales one time................
  7. Those are things that affect every aspect of life.
  8. Fortunately, I was able to pick the one day last week you weren't there to keep the steady harassment going on those fish. lol Spent an hour and a half on the lake for a 10 incher then hit one of the secret spots and got 25 or so in the next few hours. Best five were a 5-13, 4-9, 4-2 and a pair of 4's. The sheer numbers of fish seen swimming around was silly.
  9. Yeah, the second and third week of May is traditionally prime for numbers and size. We could only scrounge up one fish between the tube and dropshot, all our fish came on spoons and bladebaits.
  10. I have been dragging for smallmouth with 8 pound Vanish for over 15 years. Say what you will, but I have never seen a reason to change.
  11. My dad and I were out there on Sunday as well. I thought our fishing was rather slow. When we ran across small pods of fish you couldn't catch them fast enough, but ended as fast as it started each time. Proves to me we just weren't on good fish, they were definitely hungry when we found a few. Our best five went 4-9, 4-8, 4-6, 4-2 and a 4-0. Sounds good for anywhere else, but for Erie that is rather dismal. lol None of them were even close to the 20" minimum length for right now. Caught a couple decent ones (and a few walleye) off Woodlawn Bar but the rest came down between Myers and 18 Mile Cr. We lost quite a few also, no excuses there. I have not been to Erie during the spring in several years, but 10-15 years ago I darn near lived on that lake during May.
  12. Whatever lure you happen to be using in a critical moment during a tournament..........................is the lure most likely to be thrown by a bass.
  13. Looks like the wind took care of it today, at least everything you can see on the web cam. Might be June before I hit the water though. lol
  14. Last year I discovered if I fished about a 1/3rd of what I normally would, I could save a bunch of money. That saved money quickly got shuffled to something else though. lol
  15. I've always done reasonably well on Ebay. I feel that because of the larger audience, things generally sell higher than a smaller market, most times more than offsetting the seller fees. It's been years since I've sold something there and was disappointed on how little it sold for. I ALWAYS start my auctions at 99¢ with no reserve, no matter how much I want for it. Reserves and high start bids are a turn-off for buyers. Get a lot of players in the game early and things always sell for what they are worth, if not more.
  16. There are two ways you could come out of this, sitting around feeling sorry for yourself, and the opposite. He definitely took a hard turn right into the opposite and never looked back! Very good news!
  17. Primus in Rochester a few months back. I try to see Les any time he is nearby. Hoping Duo de Twang swings by close.
  18. Natural gas and forced air furnace. I cut and split a bunch of wood every year, but not a stick of it is used to heat with.
  19. About 1989 lol
  20. They made a 5600 as well. My first few were that size, then I discovered the smaller 3600, then I discovered the even smaller 1600. I still have and use about a dozen of the 1600 round reels. I'd still buy them, but they seemed to have gone from "cheap usable reels" to "expensive collectors item" on Ebay. Reels I could buy for $30 in near new condition have jumped to $70+ in most cases. Very solid reel in its time.
  21. Black or stainless? I've been eyeballin' the SR9c in stainless for my next one, although I have not had one in my hands yet to see how it feels.
  22. I have never paid any attention to lure weight ratings on rods and have never lost sleep over it.
  23. This storm was a larger version of a situation we encounter much of the time here. When we have lake effect snow warnings here, they generally cover several counties. We all know not everyone in those counties will get the predicted snow totals, BUT we also know some places will. Forecasters know the potential is there, just can't pinpoint exactly where due to a little wind shift here and there. So I think they throw out the warnings in a little broader area to compensate for those shifts, especially if a major metro area could be involved. I personally feel weather forecasting has been good the past few years. Most of the time they are spot on, but sometimes they do blow it as well.
