  1. Back in the late 90's, during the beginning of the Senko era, I caught over 100 largemouth one day on Honeoye Lake over the course of a long sun-up to sun-down day. If anyone knows Honeoye, those fish weren't too awfully impressive though. Mostly 11-14 inchers. Have had a few days with Lake Erie smallmouth where I numbered in the 60-80 range. Last year on Sodus Bay I caught right around 60 largemouth in a club tournament, ended up winning it.
  2. I'd like to think I could catch 37 or 38 fish on the Spidey pole. lol
  3. I think that's what it comes down for me as well. Perhaps the biggest reason I have bought more expensive gear is getting a little more longevity out of it, not necessarily the extra sensitivity. To be honest, there are several techniques/presentations I do with both a Premier and a LTB interchangeably and I really can't tell much of a difference between the two. A couple of those techniques are dropshotting and fishing T-rigs, things most feel are quite sensitivity dependent. I only buy the higher priced equipment when decent deals come along, I would never buy it at regular price. Just can't justify the cost difference to lack of performance (for me) difference. I find it funny when looking on the decks of boats of guys in my club that are ALWAYS near the top in every tournament, and their gear is garbage in many peoples eyes. Mixed matched low end rods, old reels, crap line, yet week after week they continue to kick most people butts.
  4. Some of my best fishing in the past was done on $30 rods from Walmart. I feel I could still probably scrape up some fish using them.
  5. I like 17 for T-rigging and 10 for wacky.
  6. I have a 7'MH/M St. Croix LTB I use for mid to deep cranks. Works great for that. I have used it for squarebills and didn't like it when it came to snapping the bait from weeds. Seemed a little too soft for that and didn't clear weeds like my Avid 7' M/F. Perhaps a Premier, Mojo or Avid would be a little less soft and be better in that department, I don't know?
  7. I leave the back seat in because I need a pipe wrench to get it out anymore. Those nice old Ranger deck holes that like to swell over time. I leave the front on in all the time also. I like a front pedestal, lots of guys fish without one though.
  8. Probably because he is in the middle of the two year process researching and developing the new SK KVD Sexy Sunscreen. It will double as a fish attractant too. lol
  9. Vanish is the only FC I have used over the past 10+ years. With that said, most people absolutely hate it. I have just been lucky and never got a bad spool I guess.
  10. Yes, of course. The best pizza's I ever had was Uncle Tony's in Batavia back when he was on East Main Street. This was 15+ years ago. Nothing compared. I am not even sure they do pizza anymore, last I knew it was turned into a bar/restaurant and moved locations. Next best was Nino's in Attica. We even lived in the second floor apartment next door right after my wife and I were married. That only lasted a month, we had to get out of there! lol
  11. My favorite is round, but will consider others.
  12. The difference is about six bucks. lol Seriously though, I don't know. I have one of those molds, but not sure which one.
  13. If that 4-12 holds for the month, I'll pitch in a sweet prize. It's the kind of guy I am. lol
  14. Always on Spooks
  15. I would go with a 6'6" medium. That rod can cover a lot of techniques. Stout enough to cover some heavier presentations but subtle enough to handle many finesse applications. EDIT: After re-reading your post I guess I just assumed a casting rod. If you are talking spinning I would go with the medium light 6'6". I have four Premiers of that length and action and have used them for everything from light duty dropshotting with 6lb flouro to skipping heavy cover with 30 pound braid. They are a very durable rod.
  16. Most things mesh together pretty well. We are avid gardeners (no, not the rods lol) and that just gets worked in when there is a free minute or two. I pretty much gave up hunting years ago, that can be the best fishing of the year. The only thing that puts fishing on the back burner is the maple syrup season, you gotta be ready when the trees are. There is no way around it. Fortunately that season is generally at the tail end of the icefishing season (and keeps me off crappy late ice) and just before boating season starts.
  17. I'd have to agree. Nothing but cheese would get you pretty bound up. lol Besides, everything tastes better wrapped with bacon, even bacon.
  18. I can say without a doubt, that once the maple buds open I start catching bass. The main reason for this, is at that time I am done making syrup and the boat is able to be launched. lol Sounds like a Silver Maple outside your window. They generally bud first of all the maples.
  19. Be sure to let me know when the St. Croix sell off begins.
  20. The trailer brakes are not electric, they are hydraulic, working off the piston in the coupler. They only work when the trailer is pushing against the back of the truck while stopping. The brake wire in the plug is for the brake bypass, so you can back the trailer up without the brakes coming on. This is usually hooked to the reverse light circuit on the truck.
  21. I rarely peg. No real good reason, I just don't.
  22. I still have a bunch of Premiers, maybe a dozen or 14 or so, mixed in with several Avids and Legend Tx's. Four of them are the 7' MH/F casting rods. I have used this rod for jigs, t-rigs, bubbashots, spoons, bladebaits, deep cranks, spinnerbaits, chatterbaits and probably a few other other things I am not thinking about, with excellent results. As stated, they are very durable. I could be very happy using only Premiers. Never seen/owned the split grip Premier though, so I can't comment on that.
  23. I'm kinda with you. There are only a couple presentations that I really like braid for, everything else I have dabbled with braid but keep going back to FC because it is just more comfortable for me. Some of the reasons are as you stated, but I just like the feel of FC better.
