  1. Raining pretty good here right now. We are trimming out a small remodeling job we have going on, decided to work a little longer yesterday because our cutting operation is outside and we knew what it was going to do today. Gonna have to bring the EZ Up tent today for what little we have to finish up cutting wise.
  2. Is that the rod you sold me? lol That got turned into my Silver Buddy/Bubba Shot rod.
  3. A 7' MH Fast rod is the most versatile rod you have. I use all mine (six of them maybe) for nearly everything..................except spinnerbaits. lol
  4. Uh-Oh I know what happened to the last guy that asked that question.
  5. It's the only flouro I have used for the last 12 years, and most of my rods have flouro on them. I'm due to get one of those bad spools.
  6. Around here I consider anything over 9 inches a really good one.
  7. Tie one on and try it. If you like it, keep doing it. If you don't like it, stop doing it.
  8. A few years ago I bought a couple HD Humminbird graphs, one of which was a side imaging unit.. She found out about 4 months later when she was in the boat and said "I don't remember these". This year I bought a Power Pole, and it was home about a week when she first noticed it and said "That thing is just weird". She never gets upset over any of my purchases. She knows anything big, I mull over for quite some time to make sure I am making a good purchase, and I usually look for deals that can't be passed up. She has no idea what I have for rods/reels/gear, even though she sees me fish with it. We dated for over 7 years before we got married 17 years ago. She had an idea what she was getting in to. lol
  9. My long handled net has also served as a push pole and lure retriever many times lol
  10. I'll half deploy it so you don't break any rods on it. lol
  11. I have four different brands on four different rods right now, and could get by with any one of them.
  12. Sometimes companies ran wiring conduit where the foam is going, to make wiring easier. After having a pole for a month or two now, I'm glad I got the plate. When drifting along at a good clip, and suddenly deploying the pole, it puts a ton of stress on the plate. And the way the plate is designed, it flexes and absorbs all that stress. To me, having it mounted solidly to the transom, bad things might happen, at least with a glass hull. Not sure what you have though.
  13. Within that foam, do you know if there are any wires, or anything else that could be damaged?
  14. I use a large rubber net myself, and even prefer to net my own fish even with someone else in the boat. You develop a routine, and it becomes easy/natural after a while. I have had countless fish become unhooked upon entering the net, and most of those would have been lost.
  15. Not sure I've done that yet, but usually once a year I set the hook without engaging the reel. 9 times out of 10 that ends up in a mess. lol
  16. First boat was a '63 Crestliner closed bow that I opened up into a fishing boat. About 2 or 3 years with that then bought a 1988 Stratos Fish-n-Ski. Ran that for a few years (never again will I have a Fish-n-Ski) and bought a 1990 Stratos 201. Ran that for 4 years then bought the boat I have now, a 1998 Ranger 481VS. I've had it for nearly 10 years now and hope to have it for a few more, it's been a great boat.
  17. It doesn't here. Their teeth are shaped much like the shears I cut the line with. All depends where they are hooked though. I've landed a couple big pike on 2 pound test while ice fishing, but the line was no where near the teeth. If the line is going through the teeth, you're done.
  18. Find a hat that looks like a hawk?
  19. If we had more open water smallmouth spinnerbaiting opportunity here, I would. A fried of mine, who is very good at that, does the treble trailer hook thing, and also uses a ball bearing swivel on that trailer hook too.
  20. Gotcha. Sorry about that.
  21. Be sure to check out ALL those links. They are all not just trailers.
  22. I keep them all in their original packaging and put all the packages in a very small one compartment Plano box. If they don't all fit in that box, then I have too many hooks.
  23. Braid is horrible when it comes to bite-offs, and it doesn't matter if it is 20 pound braid or 65 pound braid. Heavy flouro is what many use to help against the toothies, whether it be straight flouro or a leader.
  24. I know a guy that it wouldn't surprise me if he had this on his bedroom wall.
