The last I knew he was still unresponsive, but I believe it is still induced. This is from another mutual friend shortly after the accident..... From what I have heard is he is rough shape. He has a broken pelvis and neck, collapsed lung, and some other internal injuries (Liver/kidney I believe). The real concern though is his head injury. The have him heavily sedated and are monitoring the swelling on his brain. They need to get that under control before they put his pelvis back together. Everything I have heard they keep talking about recovery time, so in the end I think it's still positive and a good chance of recovery but it sounds like it will be a long road.

I've been using Vanish for nearly all of those 15 years and am still waiting for my first bad spool. For whatever reason I have always had great luck with the line and continue to use it. I must be doing something wrong. I do take great comfort knowing if/when they discontinue the line, I can use anything else with better results. lol

My dad and I went to Conesus today. Water was pretty muddy in some areas and nicely stained in others. No big debris floating around which we were worried about. Water temp 45-48. No numbers and size was so-so. My biggest was a 4-10 and my dad's was a 5-5. Everything caught in less than six feet of water. I had the front wheels of my truck a couple feet into the water to float the boat. Water is high and the ramp must be even more gradual near the top than midway down.

I launched just after daybreak and was loaded up and gone by 9:15 because I had other stuff I wanted to do today. Caught a bakers dozen of smallmouth and a giant pike. Best five smallmouth just under 21 pounds. The big girls are chewing.

Nope, never broke 7 pounds on a smallie. Many 6's, but no 7's.

Honeoye was doing OK today. 1 big perch 2 18-20 inch walleye 8 largemouth 39 smallmouth I wish I didn't waste the first two and a half hours this morning fishing for largemouth. Most of the smallies came in an hour and a half's time. It was ridiculous.

Used to use triple grips, but settled on short shank round bend Eagle Claws in size #4 for 1/2 ounce baits. Oh yeah, hook needs to be black nickle too, because if I put a bronze hook away one day, it is rusty the next. I usually find a deal somewhere that puts hook cost at about 6¢ to 8¢ apiece. Certainly was not my idea of cutting the hook eye for installation. I read somewhere on the net (so it must be true) that if you do this, then dig the hooks into a post and pull with very heavy line, the line will break WAY before that cut in the hook eye ever becomes a problem. I've done it this way ever since. Only ever had one hook come off the lure, and that was after the smallmouth was safely in the net, but doing a death roll gaining a lot of leverage because the hooks were tangled in the net I use 17 lb flouro with a 7' MH casting rod with these, and have been known to boat flip 4 1/2+ pound fish into the boat in a non-tournament situation. Got a last second invite to hit Lake Erie with a buddy yesterday. Actually had to string up a couple rods before I rushed out the door, everything was already stripped down for the winter. He has been doing quite well the last few weeks with multiple 100+ fish days and even catching 88 on Saturday..............then I get in the boat with him. lol We only caught 19 yesterday. I did squat for size, but my buddy got a nice 6.1 and several in the 4's. No complaints from me though! Surface temp is still a balmy 47.5º, which isn't necessarily a good thing for us WNY'ers heading into winter.

I went to school for four years for electronics. Never worked a day in the field. lol Got out of college and stepped right into the building trades with my dad. Soon after we formed our own business and did OK for ourselves for 25+ years. Some jobs inside, some outside. A few years ago I started working for the USPS part time as a rural carrier. My dad is looking to retire and I am not sure I want to finish out my days as a carpenter. The USPS job is now responsible for more than half my income, so I guess both jobs are part time now. The mail suits me well also, half the day inside sorting and half the day enjoying the outdoors (kinda).

This is a technique I've really grown to love the last several years. My personal preference is a 7' MH casting rig with 17 pound flouro. Once a fish is hooked, the finessey part goes out the window and the fish comes in the boat. lol A couple bladebait fish from today.................

Out of laziness, I ran the same Vanish on most of my flouro rods this year as I did last year. A couple spinning reels I did change, and one casting. No ill effects.

I have only bought a couple bags of these, but they do hand pour quite nicely. The 4" Darter has all but replaced dragging a tube for me the last few years. I am dragging a darter 75% of the time and a tube 25% anymore. I don't know if I stumbled onto something, or if a lot of people do the same thing, but I like to rig them on a heavy open hook football jighead for dragging. 1/2 ounce is the lightest I use, and do use 3/4 ounce if the winds are up, or I want to get to the bottom quick in deeper water (25' plus). I have played around with many different color schemes, but always come back to a green pumpkin or a dark watermelon in confidence situations. The smaller 3.5" version I occasionally dropshot and have had decent success.
