I have been using Neko Rig for a couple of months with good success. I use it instead of a Shaky Head in weedy areas. Where the Shaky Head tends to dig into the weeds the Neko Rig lifts up and out of the weeds and is surprisingly weedless. I have not tried using screw or nails, I have been adding a drop of super glue to Lunker City Wacky Weights. I have settled on using O-rings and Gamakatsu Weedless Finesse Hooks and Zoom Trick Worms.
These are outstanding lures. Very versatile and every bit as good as described in the Bassmaster article. They now have a plastic version for $17.95, not sure if its as good as the wooden one but even at $24.95 they are worth every penny.
Mann's Sting Ray Grub in 3 inch avocado on 1/4 jighead with Smelly Jelly Bass Feast. I have also had good success fishing the Sting Ray Grub on a 1/8 Scrounger Head.
I have had great success using a Yamamoto Hula Grub on a Bass Stalker jig head as my drop shot weight. I use a Yamamoto Shad Shape Worm as my drop shot bait about 12 inches above the jig. I usually rig the Shad Shape worm texposed. I have actually picked up a few doubles with this setup.
I have had decent success dropshotting the 3" Gulp Alive Minnows for bass especially during tough bite times. They will catch about anything that swims particularly catfish. The 1" size is deadly on Crappie, Bluegill, Yellow and White Perch.
