  1. I looked at the Duckett rods again and the one with a wonky guide had a chip in the epoxy/coat on just that one guide. The dozen or so other rods I checked out were fine. They're probably the lightest rods I've ever held. I might have to pick one up at some point. The 7'3" MH was a bit lighter and better balanced than my 6'8" MXF Mojo Bass.
  2. This all I've seen: http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CFPageC?storeId=10151&catalogId=10001&langId=-1&appID=206
  3. Do they typically do rod trade-ins?
  4. What were the sales like in the past? Everything on sale, or just select stuff and BPS gear? If there are sales on Abu Garcia and Shimano I'll definitely make the 4 hour trek to Harrisburg for it
  5. I did have them take off the alarm/protection tags so I could tell and I still thought it felt heavier than the Vendetta, personally. I've got the MBC68MXF and like it a lot, they're definitely well made rods and St. Croix seems like a good company. That Kistler Carbon Steel rod is intriguing, but the pics on their site don't show the rod with the correct handle, plus they're discontinued?
  6. 1. Abu Garcia Vendetta - 6'9" MHF - $80 2. St. Croix Mojo Bass - 7' MHF - $85 3. Quantum KVD Signature (not Tour) - 7' MHF - $80 The St. Croix is that price because I have a coupon for Dick's, but the rod actually feels a bit tip heavy to me. I like how light the Vendettas are, but not sold on the reel screw-down. And I don't live close enough to a BPS to check out those KVD rods, but I'm intrigued and might trek to Harrisburg at the end of the month and could check one out at that time. Just curious to know what folks think. Could be tempted by other rods, too.
  7. I just got a pack of Chigger Toads at Dick's last week. I had never seen them before then. Definitely curious about these new ones!
  8. Never fished one, but when I was looking at them in the store they felt really light for the size. However, I noticed one of the micro guides was loose.
  9. Sayers/Bald Eagle SP definitely has a lot of traffic in the summer. I've only fished from shore there once, so I'd still be willing to check that out. I'm up for any place if I can get my friend to go. I'll have to point him to this thread. Never been to Curwensville.
  10. I have a St. Croix MBC66MHF and I love it for all kinds of stuff, from T-rigs to jigs and some topwater stuff. I haven't tried it on cranks yet, but was thinking about using it for shallow square bills and lipless. Anyone think that's a fair idea?
  11. I might be into this, if my friend who has a boat is interested What about Glendale Lake? That might be better for folks with smaller boats. I haven't fished there in years, though.
  12. I picked up some CXX to try this year on a couple baitcasters. I'm planning to try Hybrid and maybe the Vicious as well. But, I want to know how copolymers are for topwater... how is the buoyancy of these lines compared to nylon mono? Does it sink like fluorocarbon?
  13. Scumfrog and Spro. I caught a lot of bass on a regular chartreuse scumfrog late this past summer, and then tried a green Spro Bronzeye and a brown Spro Bronzeye Jr. The Spro's are really nice, I like the action a lot. I just wish they weren't ten bucks a pop.
  14. I looked at both rods at Cabelas yesterday and I thought the Vendetta felt a little better in my hand. The reel seat screw down on the Veritas feels bulky because that's where my index finger rests. I know that's because the reel seats right on the blank, so I guess that's part of the trade off for added sensitivity? Both rods were really light, which was nice. The only gripe about the Vendetta was it only had 8 guides (including the tip), but I'm not totally sure that's a big deal. Anyway, that's my review.
