  1. I saw 68 degrees just south of your pocket. I never made it around the corner to go check it out. I had mixed results last week. Chatterbaits one day, flashy head spinner w/small Houdini swimming fluke one day, & wacky worm another day. I had one day I saw multiple bass blow up/come out the water busting 1.5" shad and couldn't buy a bite with anything. I think I remember you talking about a 1/8 rattle trap, that might have been perfect, but didn't have anything that small. I tried 1/4 oz without success. Main lake fog was really bad quite a few days. My buddy had to idle back to LaNann from Clear Creek. He cut straight across the lake because of people running by GPS not able to see 50 yards ahead.
  2. Any reports? Awfully quiet in here.
  3. Tornado hit a couple miles from the camp. The path showed it traveled NE from LaNann just past the new subdivision . The video I saw showed snapped trees on the north side of Hwy 1215 where that new metal barndominium is located and the pad for a new place had been fixed up. Hope everyone in the area made it through unscathed. Ronnie
  4. Hope you get over those issues and get to set the hook soon. I'll probably be headed up tomorrow with my dog. The wife said she needs a break! Not sure how much fishing I'll do, but I hope to get out a little. Looks like rain for the next few days. Might fire up a shallow bite.
  5. Awfully quiet in here. I had to actually scroll down to find the thread!
  6. We might be tucking tail and heading up there tomorrow, depending on the next couple of Francine updates. I'm thinking my grass might be tall enough to hide a deer or two.
  7. Really sad event. The mother that died had just retired. A friend of mine was good friends with her. At my place on San Miguel, it was thundering 15-30 minutes prior to the high winds. Prayers for all involved. BTW, I have no fishing report. Tore my bicep tendon and had surgery 4/25 to repair. So, I'll be reportless for a bit.
  8. I've been using the 3/0- 3/16. In the fall when the shad and bass moved into my little cove, I had problems hooking the fish because my swimbait was too bulky. I switched to the keitech swing impact and hook-up ratio went up.
  9. It was nice meeting and talking with you Blaster. I caught 2 keepers after I talked to you that day. Both on the flashy head swimmer with a 3.5" keitek swimbait. The next day, I fished what i call 5 fingers, the cove just south of Cozy Point. Caught 1 keeper in there and missed another. Fished near Rocky Branch and caught another keeper, both on the owner flashy swimmer. I fished after the hard rain, I think was last Saturday. It was still drizzling off and on. Caught 4 keepers, and missed another 3. A couple were on white chatterbait and the rest were on the owner flashy swimmer. I mainly concentrated on shallow water. The bouy situation sucks not only in San Miguel, but also the single buoy lane just out of San Miguel headed north. Can't wait to get back up to try them again.
  10. Spent a few days at the camp last week. Made a 2 hour trip out after lunch on Monday after the weather warmed up. I caught 8 with the biggest around 2.75 and the others anywhere from 10-15" long. All caught in 14-20 fow on carolina rigged flukes in San Miguel. Surprisingly there was just a light breeze and beautiful weather. After those 29 and 31 degree mornings, the sunny 65 degrees felt great. It's getting to be the time for those big girls to show up. Water temp was upper 50's. Ronnie
  11. Good luck. I’m just down the cove from that launch.
  12. Headed up in a couple days for a week. I've been chompin at the bit while offshore reading all the reports of fish being caught. I'm definitely anxious.
  13. Caught 12 Monday. Rattle traps, watermelon seed lizard & weightless fluke basically dead sticking it. 58 degrees water temp at Blue Lake. Some of the fish I caught were like me, fatties! ? About to try them again.
  14. Spent a couple hours fishing midlake. Caught 3. Biggest almost 5 lbs. had a 3 lb catfish choke a chatterbait. The 5 lber was a fatty. 3-5’ fow over some grass. About to get restored try them again before the rain.
  15. Aug 23, went out between rain storms fishing a drop off from a 10’ flat to 25-30’. I had 3 bites. Missed the first bite on a Carolina rigged fluke. The next bite on the c-rig was 6.5. Fished a while with no bites so I repositioned on the drop in 15-17’ and casted a big crankbait. Caught another at 6.25. Then the wife called and said AC unit was having issues. Pendleton bridge got covered with rain, so I headed back in. Main lake 1215 area.
  16. Headed up this afternoon. Bringing my boat to Toledo Fiberglass to have new electronics installed plus Mega 360. I’ll be playing with them and trying to fine tune them. Hope to have a report later in the week.
  17. I drove through that mess yesterday headed home. I spent a number of days at the camp. My best luck was around North Toledo state park. Friday a friend and I boated 17 with 7 keepers. Spot remover Jackhammer, suspending jerk bait, and black/blur flake yum dinger with a light weight. The next couple days we’re slower, but same lure arsenal. I did catch a 3 lber on a white perch jig on 4 lb test! That was fun.
  18. I saw some pvc structures for that just south of the Blue Lake chute. Maybe when they do clear cuts around the lake, water samples should be taken of the runoff. I don’t know how true it is, but I was told the land is sprayed so undergrowth doesn’t spring up immediately. Now that may be total bs.
  19. Kinda quiet up in here. I imagine it'll liven up pretty soon. I'll be headed up probably Monday for the warm up during the coming week. Last time up (early January) I caught on a number of things. Football jig & carolina rig trick worm throwing on an 11' flat that dropped off to 25'. I caught a few in at the entrance to a spawning pocket where the temp got up to 61 degrees(I imagine it's not that warm now). I also went to battle with what I thought was going to be a fat female on my jackhammer, only to find out it was a choupique that probably went 7+ lbs. Luckily I was able to get the lure back after two hard runs under the boat that I thought would snap my rod. I also caught a few fishing brush piles in my cove on tx rigged trick worms.
  20. Probably head up tomorrow to do some work and fish the warm up during the week.
  21. 107 heat index is painfully hot. I caught a 14” Kentucky, 2 dink kentuckies, on a drop off that goes from 8-35’ Carolina rigged trick worm. Had a few thump my dropshot, but no hook ups. After that big full moon and getting on the water at 730, my expectations weren’t to high. I may have to bite the bullet and try some night fishing.
  22. I agree with all three of these colors plus watermelon red magic. Watermelon seed flukes with chartreuse tails on a Carolina rig is always on my deck too.
  23. Fished Tuesday and half a day Wednesday in San Miguel. Tuesday I caught 15 with 5 that would’ve been keepers. Nothing over 3 lbs. Majority in chatterbait, a few on a crawfish yozuri rattling vibe, and a couple on senior like bait. Wednesday I had 10 with 5 would be keepers with 2 of them close to 4 lbs. All of these on chatterbaits. Temps were up to 57 degrees.
  24. I made the same choice 10 years ago when we got the camp up there. Occasionally I miss the time BS’n with buddies in the blind, but lack of birds makes the choice that much easier.
  25. Supposed to head up either Monday or Tuesday. Hope to get some fishing in. Got to start working on the tree that Laura knocked over, but I'm going to take my time. Cooler weather will make work a little more bearable. Thanks for the reports Bass Fanatic.
