  1. All persons, except those listed below, must purchase the proper licenses before fishing. Resident or non-resident landowners, their spouses, their children and grandchildren and the spouses of such children and grandchildren, or the landowner's parents, resident or non-resident, do not need a license to hunt, trap or fish within the boundaries of their own lands and inland waters. Residents under 16 years of age (also do not need a trout license). Tenants, on the land they rent and occupy, are not required to have a license, but must have the written permission of the landowner. Guests fishing in individually owned private ponds. Non-resident children under 12 (except in designated stocked trout waters) when accompanied by a properly licensed adult. Legally blind persons. Any Indian who "habitually" resides on an Indian reservation or a member of the Virginia recognized tribes who resides in the Commonwealth is not required to have a license; however, such Indian must have on his person an identification card or paper signed by the chief of his tribe, a valid tribal identification card, written confirmation through a central tribal registry, or certification from a tribal office. Stockholders owning 50 percent or more of the stock of any domestic corporation owning land in Virginia, his or her spouse and children and minor grandchildren, resident or nonresident, to hunt, trap and fish within the boundaries of lands and inlands waters owned by the domestic corporation. Persons 65 years of age or older do not need a saltwater license.
  2. awesome shots. hope to get out there this summer.
  3. the clarity is the best around here given the conditions, it just never seems to get murky although there is a slight green tint... take a walk to the fishing pier, you can see a pretty good ways dowthe guy in the shack will rent you whatever you want, be it just a motor, extra motor, extra battery, oars, etc. he has live bait too but you have to buy that
  4. its definitely electric only. i havent been this year so i cant very well comment on the fishing, although the levels are way up from last summer. any scouting for cover you did while the water is down will pay off right now as it is virtually free of woods under the surface. the water is quite clear, id say clear to 4-5'.
  5. follow the prey in ponds like that i like to throw a junebug finesse worm up to the bank and then bump it down, especially under wax myrtles... we have tons of ponds like that around where i live, and that always seems to be where the fish are
  6. awesome fish. did you put her on a scale? i really need to put a couple bucks toward one.
  7. we went out to woodhaven in new kent this evening and got beat up. one bass and one fat crappie. dullsville. cant wait for the warmer weather.
  8. ive been slaying em on the 6" zoom junebug lizards and a 1/8 worm weight. ill pitch them into a bed of wax myrtle roots and then down the shore.
  9. well dang thats still close to a month off. i have noticed some bigger fish cruising around in the shallows near cover... but all the fish ive caught have been in at least 5 feet of water
  10. which dogwoods :-? cornus kousa flowers about a month after cornus florida.
  11. those were at a private mill pond in new kent, i can barely get in. pretty soon im gonna have access and a boat on woodhaven, after that i wont mind showing a few people around.
  12. thanks man. show me where to catch 4 more and you can keep the money ;D i didnt mention the 20 odd dinks i caught... the first picture should tell you a lot about what i consider a "good" fish, haha. thats about as good as it gets for me. hell with it, id rather catch dinks than waste sunlight at work 8-)
  13. thanks! i was so excited to get it in the net that i shook for probably 5 minutes afterwards.
  14. healthy looking fish yall!
  15. would have been happy with just this and a s-load of fries but then i pulled in this trophy biggest fish of my short life!
  16. i got the same treatment... went home and worked on the boat and grilled a steak to make myself feel better
  17. we straight smacked em on a 5 acre mill pond this afternoon... 47 degrees with a slight algal tint but very clear overall
  18. another vote for clore brothers on the rappahannock. close by and great fishing (and swimming).
  19. 68 and sunny here in the 804... gotta make hay while the suns shining. i dont care if we dont catch anything, i just gotta get out.
  20. so excited... i noticed the other day that it was still light at 5:45... that only means one thing: the days are getting longer! in the eyes of the eternal optimist, december 24th is the real first day of spring ;D
  21. eh, i wish i could tell you. we dunked my buddy's mastercraft in and idled around for a bit to see if it got any safer but of course it didnt. ive only lived here for about 6 years so i dont know a lot about the james, especially in the winter but as we were putting around i thought that it would be an excellent place to fish. it really reminds me of the rappahannock west of fredericksburg, which has excellent fishing with slightly lower water levels. killer smallie habitat. id go in with minnows.
  22. sorry bigbarge, didnt realize you were running the DSi. hastily skimmed over that. that is a really nice model. fishfinder tech is going through the roof. i just bought a box full of working mark 5xs for $150... several years old but still. to treat myself, i recently upgraded to an eagle fishfinder 480 combo GPS and fishfinder. $230 shipped from BPS all due respect to andy williams, THIS is the most wonderful time of the year... clearance fishing equipment!
  23. yes a jon boat can be put in at that landing... thats probably as big of a boat as you would want to put in without excellent local knowledge we were going to go wakeboarding with some guys that wanted to put in at watkins... big mistake, but the habitat looked outstanding water is flat enough, with lots of grass beds and boulders just below the surface
  24. dont install, return in a week when the 2011s come out, then buy on clearance i plan on getting a similar model.
