  1. I am surprised to see that there has been next to no posts on the newest model Shimano Stradic Ci4+ Spinning Reel. I truly do not need another spinning reel but was curious why no Shimano guys have posted up on the new model?
  2. I love my Daiwa Pixy/Pixzilla reels they are amazing reels so fun to fish with. When I let my friends cast them they can not believe how well they work. I usually use them for throwing 1/4 dartheads with a Little Dipper from Reaction Innovations. I understand that the newer Daiwa SV105 is an amazing reel but I do not have any history with them. If you have issues with casting runovers/back lashing I would go with something from the Daiwa SV line and I think the smallest reel would be the Daiwa SV105 which you can find on a fishing forum for around $200.00 I have seen them cheaper than that.
  3. I would find it hard to believe that there is a more sensitive blank than the NRX line. I love both my NRX852SJR & NRX822DSR they are crazy sensitive. If I could only choose 1 I would choose the 852SJR I believe it to be more versitile. Truly though if I had it to do over again I would go with a longer NRX spinning rod like the NRX Medium 872S JWR 7'3" or NRX 7'6" Medium 902S JWR 7'6" I have other spinning rods that are 7'6" and I love them and they cast a mile.
  4. I just bought a new one and boy does it look sweet. I have many old green supremes and love them I hope this will be a step above the old one.
  5. I have used a G loomis MBR853Cfor the last 12 years. I fish with 1/4 to 1oz jigs. I live in California and sometimes fish as deep as 65 feet with a 1/2 oz jig or preferable a 3/4 oz jig and man is this rod sensitive. I am sure the GLX would be a step up but for the price the IMX is the rod for me.
  6. There is no other knot to use other than a palomar knot. That is unless you like to :'( cry and cuss a lot. I have never broken off in all of my years of fishing light line at the knot.
  7. I would go with the G Loomis 853c in IMX. I love this rod it is the ultimate multipurpose rod for me. It is a a awesome buzzbait rod and is deadly to use with jigs. I love it for spinnerbaits it is just a great rod in general. I have had two of them for 12 years or so and they are still catching fish. I love to throw spinnerbaits at night and man can you feel that colorado blade thump.
  8. I like the floroclear by P-Line for my drop shotting rod split shot, texas rig all with 10lb test if I can get away with the heavier line. It spools up nice and for 10 lb test and that is saying something. I use the 12lb for 3/8 jigs on my spin caster also. I have used it for years but I do not like the eight it brakes to easy for me. I am using power pro braid with a leader most of the time now though. When you catch them in 60ft this sure helps with the odds of hooking and landing the fish and it just makes any rod more sensitive and when you are fishing tournaments you need every advantage you can get.
  9. I can not wait to get my hands on one of these reels. Shop around on the internet because I have seen them for 95.00 plus 5.00 for shipping compared to the 139.99 I think that they are going for. Right now I am focusing on upgrading my baitcasters . Good luck shopping and keep your lines tight.
  10. I like the pflueger supreme 8030 it only weighs 7.4 oz and will hold 6/160 which is perfect for me. I have used braid on it and that works great also. It is smooth and for the price I do not believe there is a better reel. That is just my opinion though. You can get them used off of the internet or new for under 100.00. I have gotten them for as cheap as 50.00. The same reel accept a small step the 9030xt is a great reel also. I own 6 or 7 of these reels and they are so light and smooth in your hands. When you hold a reel in your hand all day you will want the lightest, best priced reel go with the Pflueger. It is almost as light as the steez though I am sure the steez must be a nicer reel though. But if price is what is most important and it is for me also go with the pflueger supreme.
  11. I have a few avids and they get the job done. I have a cranking rod and it works great for both cranking and topwater. They make for a nice spinnerbait rod also. If you want to get more feel with your rod use braid with a a mono or fluorocarbon leader and it will make a world of difference whether you are drop shotting in 60ft or throwing a jig etc you will be impressed with the difference. My favorite all around rod is a G loomis MBR843C that rod can be used in so many different ways and can be found used for less than the 180.00 you spent and is still covered by the warranty. I will never buy new again probably because there are much better deals found over the internet with this being one of the sights. Enjoy your new rod it will work fine. I have some friends who have won a lot of money over the years using much cheaper rods than this . In closing just get out there and enjoy the great outdoors and take a kid fishing.
  12. :DMan I am hoping to get my hands on one of these reels. I hear that they are awesome. I have left an ad in the classifieds looking for one of these guys in the right hand model. I have had no luck so far will someone please feel sorry for me and help me out. The new ones have to be off the graph expensive so I am looking for a well taken care of used one hopefully with the drag upgrade and bearings also but if not that is ok. I am also looking for a td-z103 or TD-Z103 type R. I will probably have about as much luck as the people looking for Elvis. 8-) I am hoping someone will come along and help a guy out :'( with a good deal. I Have a brand new pflueger partriarch xt and a brand new pflueger partriarch 7.1 lp. Both reels are new in box . You can email me if there is anyone out there who is willing to swap me or I will pay cash if the price is right. trentgreer@att.net .by the way what pound braid did you use on your reel when using the frog and it hold enough 65lb power pro or is that to heavy of line for this reel.
