  1. This is very true. Don't know how many times something has caught my eye that wasn't a lure, but after looking around a little I find a bait nearby. It's almost like you just get a feeling that there is a bait there.
  2. I love the #5 shad rap for cold water bass fishing, have not had the same success with the Flicker Shad. The Flicker Shad Shallow has been a very good bait for me in the winter months though. The #7 is a bit larger and cast better than a #5 shad rap. They also have rattles, a plus in our stained water, are considerably cheaper, and more durable.
  3. Jerkbaits and flatsided cranks are my 2 main baits of choice during the winter months and account for lots of big fish into the 7lb range. I'm also in the group that my numbers go way down in winter, but size goes way up.
  4. YUM Craw Papi 3.75"
  5. Not anything I'm really looking forward to fishing more other than an A-rig. Only real reason for that is Kansas is going from allowing 2 hooks on the rig, to allowing 5 on January 1st. So I'll be actually able to utilize it quite a bit more effectively now and pretty excited to do so.
  6. I have a lot of success with the 1/4oz RES right after the shad spawn. Fish it over the top of submerged grass, stop and go on shallow, wind blown flats, or over rip rap. The bites I've had on them are pretty violent.
  7. Flatheads eat next to nothing during the winter months. Lots of video evidence of baits bouncing through large winter congregations, even hitting them in the face/mouth and they don't even flinch. When they do eat, it's normally something small. I'd be shocked if they're preying on the smallmouth at all until the water warms up.
  8. Welcome!
  9. Welcome!
  10. I like to watch people who are more down to business. I don't need a lot of B-roll filler, that's not why I watch. I don't care where you got gas at on the way to the lake, what you had to eat on the way there or on the way home. Fish care is a big one, can't watch people who treat the fish poorly. People who like to bend the rules I can't watch either. Not interested in watching someone trying to play the victim when "COPS CALLED FOR FISHING??", when they were clearly trespassing and breaking the law. I watch several local guys with small channels as well as several members videos, River Certified, PigPatrolTV (actually was on his channel once, funny guy and enjoyed fishing with him), Greg Blanchard, Kristine Fischer, Kayak Catfish, NDYakAngler, and several pros (Brian Latimer is one of my favorites to watch). I watch way more Youtube than I do regular TV.
  11. I got out this past Saturday. Numbers were crazy, well over 50 fish. No monsters, 17.75" was biggest. Pretty wild to have the non-stop action in the kayak like that this time of year.
  12. I hooked one a couple years ago on a jigging spoon that came off at the boat, I was pretty disappointed. It was orange/black/silver, pretty cool looking fish.
  13. Oh man, the salty crunch on a PB&J when you add chips to it is *chef's kiss* That's country boy cuisine. I've got to work 10pm-6am tomorrow night also, but they're paying me really well for it. Hard to turn it down.
  14. I bought my first JDM Zillion probably 5 years ago (a 9.1 with the green accents). It's a very exciting day when those packages show up at the house.
  15. That tube craw is a bait that gets me so many big bites, and for some reason I fish it so sparingly.
  16. I made myself a PB&J with sour cream and onion chips on it before I came to work and hoping my wife brings me home a plate to eat when I get off work tonight ?
  17. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! I'm working tonight so I missed out on the Thanksgiving dinner this year ?‍♂️
  18. I use a St. Croix Legend Tournament 6' 10" ML/XF. It's been my Ned rod for several years now.
  19. I have at least 2 dozen Duo jerkbaits, you won't be disappointed.
  20. Duo Realis makes a black jerkbait in the 120SP size called "Midnight Black II". I may or may not have one with quite a few teeth marks on it. Low light conditions and dark water seems to be prime times for it but I'll break it out at times when I just want a big target for them also. https://duo-international.com/products/realis-jerkbait-120sp/
  21. $.50 a bait IS pretty cheap anymore ?‍♂️
  22. Nobody says you can't straight retrieve glide baits. Try burning one on a straight retrieve, that's how I fish them at times, including in current, and the smallmouth will crush them. Faster sinking baits like the Savage Gear Gear Glide or 6th Sense Speed Glide are good options for it.
  23. I've tried a lot of hooks for weightless (wacky), senkos, I settled on the ones I use now that are made by Eagle Claw. Best wacky rig hooks I've used and it's not even close. Since I'm sure nobody would believe Eagle Claw can make a top shelf hook, they do make the same hook in the Trokar lineup. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Trokar_Neko_Weedless_Hook_6pk/descpage-TNWH.html
  24. I've caught some big ones on Beetle Spins right after ice out. I'd check out the new Z-man micros. I've been playing with the micro TRDs and catching a little bit of everything on them.
  25. Fish Monkey 1/2 finger Wooly Gloves are what I wear when it's cold, below 30* or so. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Fish_Monkey_Wooly_Half_Fingered_Gloves/descpage-FMWHFG.html
