The 6' 8" medium St. Croix Mojo is also my rod of choice for shakey head fishing and I don't miss any more bites than anyone else with it. I've got it paired with a 2500 Shimano Symetre with 8lb Stren original. It's a great combo for less than what you'd spend on a GLX rod by itself. That leaves lots of money left over to buy shakey heads and the baits you'll be fishing on them ;D.

My boat sits outside year round, I try to blow the water lines out as good as possible and let it drain out really good before heading home. Mainly my boat is a 16' aluminum semi V jon boat so I'm not really worried about hurting it! ;D

Engineer-this was at La Cygne lake in Linn County, KS about 45 minutes south of Kansas City. This Lake and Wolf Creek are both powerplant lakes but I prefer La Cygne because it's about 30 minutes closer and on Wolf Creek if the wind gets higher than 20mph they page you off the lake and you have to wear a lifejacket the entire time you're on the water. La Cygne also produces bass up to and somtimes surpassing 10lbs, something that is very rare in Kansas. BassinBob-Normally the water temps range from low 60's at the outlet (what we call the hothole) to the mid 40's at the ends of the lake. There is a river that runs into the lake that freezes up most of the time but sometimes you can catch fish up to the edge of the ice. They haven't been generating nearly as much lately so the water temps were down quite a bit. Almost all the fish we caught came in water temps between 55 at the outlet to below 45 at the rock banks we were catching lots of our fish off of.

Went to one of the local powerplant lakes today. Fish were biting pretty good but mostly small fish. I got one of my biggest ones on a texas rigged zoom magnum finesse worm. My buddy wasn't getting quite the numbers but he did get big bass of the day on an X-rap and big fish of the day, a 7.29lb wiper that ate an Excalibur XR50 rattlebait, All and all it was a pretty good day.

Something about them just flat out catches fish. There are cheaper baits out there that I catch plenty of fish with but they are another tool in the toolbox. The new Excalibur squarebill is a very close look alike and it catches fish really well too, they just don't have the selection of colors. The pointers outfish any other jerkbait day in and day out for me.

I've had a couple two piece rods that come apart on the cast every once in awhile. That drives me crazy, I wouldn't use a 2 piece for anything but catfishing.

I have one of the Skeet Reese crankbait rods and like it really well. I bought it to replace a St. Croix Glass crankbait rod that got into an unfortunate accident :'( . I was going to buy another one but I decided to get the Skeet Reese rods because they were about 20 dollars cheaper.

Bags of brush hogs always seem to have a couple bent baits, I've never had a problem catching fish on them though.

I'm sure there are plenty of members on here that would love to catch "just a bunch of dinks" right now! Looks like a good day on the water!

A friend of mine has decided to try his hand at airbrushing baits. I know nothing about it and he's looking for advice. I've told him trial and error will probably get him to being able to paint basic patterns but he will have to be patient. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The Cumara is lighter and my experience with Shimano rods if you break one they'll take it back at any Shimano dealer in exchange for the same rod. I prefer St. Croix though, made in the USA hits a spot with me too.

Got my loot from A Jay today. I have to say he outdid himself. Not only was the outside of the box wrapped, but everything inside the box was wrapped and there was a card. I hope what he got me is cheaper around there because I would have been over the 25 dollars to buy this stuff around here! This is everything still in the package as it was recieved. and this is everything out of the packages with slight modification to the baits. Happy holidays all and a big thank you to A jay!

This fish was back in July but I just now finally figured out how to post pictures on here. I was fishing a small community lake with a friend of mine flipping a baby brush hog under the docks. Got a solid thump and set hard and thought it was good bass until it was peeling drag out towards deeper water. A fun fight anyways. It was just over 14lbs.

about an hour to one of the powerplant lakes, going to brave the cold this morning. Hopefully the fishing will be better today than the hunting was yesterday. Well the fishing wasn't great for me but somebody was catching fish she caught a bunch of those and a pretty nice one of these I fished a jigging spoon a lot and I kept snagging big shad that were everywhere and a few of these It was good to get out on the water though.

I do it with my big baitfeeder spinning reels I use for blue cats. I don't see how it could be anything but good for them. My spinning gear for bass never gets a break. I fish all winter long and they get used even more in the winter when I'm using smaller baits and slower retrieves.

Sounds like a good explanation to me.

I took an easy up that got crushed by a downpour back to them this summer. I didn't have a reciept and they let me go grab a new one and trade it in, not questions asked. I would say it's worth a try at least, worst they can do is say no and you still have a broken rod.

I've been to Lake Comendero twice. About 20 miles from the lake they stopped and picked up heavily armed police officers that stay with you all week at the lodge and drive around in a boat on the lake to keep an eye out on people. One of the other groups that was down there got stopped at gunpoint and had all the beer and pop raided from their coolers. The same thing happened to me on the second trip. A guy came running down the hill out of the trees with an AK strapped acrossed his chest yelling for "Cervezas!" Neither one of us drank while we were down there on the water so he just took our few pops we had brought to drink with lunch and went back up the hill. It was a pretty crazy experience.

I was still at work until 4am. Hopefully will be again tonight, need that Christmas money!

If you don't mind waiting for them to die and let the needles fall off that is a good way to get a jumpstart on fish holding on them. At the same time the more needles there is the more moss can grow on them and attract food for the bass. I'm sure the decomposing needles act just like decomposing water plants and deplete the oxygen and that may repel some of the bass as well.

My DryPlus will will not keep me dry after a couple hrs downpour. Kelley Neither will mine. It's ok as long as it's not pouring but if it is my arms and chest are going to get wet. They are a good windbreaker though.

They grow moss on them pretty quick and start attracting small yearling bluegills and other small fish, crawdads, and other invertebrates quickly as well. Until the needles are gone or thinned out and they bass can get to them there isn't much reason for them to hang around them unless there is nothing else in that area.
